Hi all,

First time coco grower having tarnished leaves.

Nutes: cana coco AB , rhizotonic and cannazym
Feed ph: 5.8-6.2
Coco: plagron coco in fabric pots 12L/3G
light: 3 x migro 4x4 aray
humidity: 60%
Temperature: 28C/82F

Feeding/watering about every three days and coco is still quite wet even then.

strains: tangerine sugar, butterscotch gelato, blue dream

Some have almost no tarnishing others alot. Leaves also are quite light green.

Thanks so much!

Lol welcome to coco. this pretty much looks like everyones first time

Any tips you have? Will this impact future growth? Have never experienced this in soil.

theres quite a few issues going on here. It would take me a long time to explain everything so instead I would strongly recommend you visit a website called
cocoforcannabis.com You'll be able to read everything you need to understand about growing in coco. It will serve you well.

in the meantime whats in your nutrient mix ? especially the amount of calmag ? whats total EC ? where is your water coming from ?
are those pots sitting on the ground ? is your coco buffered ?
have you been watering with just water ?
lets start there. 🤪
and add a half dose of calmag to the next feed in the meantime, which should be a daily occurence
and finally the plant will be fine but you need to correct a few things sooner rather than later

With coco you fertigate daily.

You also have to rinse and buffer your coco with cal mag (depending on brand, i do it regardless of what it says on the bag) or else any calmag you feed it will be leeched by the media, or worse, the media will leech it from your plant.

Being your ph is good, im gonna say its simply hungry.

Coco is amazing, my first coco run taught me more about growing than all of them. Its very rewarding but also muchbmore involved. You have to monitor ec, ph, and ensure adequate runoff. If you do that the yield simply cannot be beat

Yeah could just need to up nutes and not supplement camg. Ive never run canna coco nutes before so I dont know. I use soft water nutes and still suplement camg. could almost guarantee his total EC is too low. and feeding every 3 days aint helping

Ok I'll start feeding daily now. The medium I use is https://www.plagron.com/en/hobby/products/cocos-premium , it shows as fully buffered on the description. I've followed canna guidelines for feeding but I didn't know I had to feed daily (even when still very wet????). In soil I offcourse don't do that. I'll read up on calmag as I'm not using that right now. I only use: coco AB, cannazym and rhizotonic as instructed for this stage on the coco for cannabis sheet on the canna website.
Thanks for the replies!!

yes keep at it brother. youll get there, feed every day to about 15% run off and keep testing the EC of your run off coz it can run high on ya pretty quick and burn your plants if you dont watch it

THAT is the whole key right there.... Keep at it, don't give up, I've seen people who do coco and their plants come out so beautiful.

I also notice that once people get it down, and learn it, they become experts at all aspects of growing for the most part, because the learning curve is a bit steeper than DWC and other methods in my opinion.

I have a lot to learn about soil growing but one day Ill get into it when they legalize and I can grow outdoors.
hydroponics is one of those with great power comes great responsibility type deals but once you learn how to keep it in balance its pretty easy.

You can treat coco like soil, but if you go that route you’re depending on microbes to balance the media ph.

My first time and I am using coco as well. I just learned if you prebuffer your coco with cal-mag and always feed with 150ppm of cal mag in RO water. I feel this is the main difficulty with coco but I am new and I dont know much. I did study cocoforcannabis.com and I am constantly watching videos and learning. I havent had any major issues yet *knockonwood*

Here are my plants today. Just started Week 6 of Veg. Lollipopped yesterday going to wait for them to recover then flipping to flower.

Im using 70/30 coco pearlite mix. Id say the hardest part is figuring out how much water / nuts your plants need and listening to them while adjusting.

Big thanks to this forum as well. A lot of help on here!

I just wanted to follow up that my plants nutrients solution before drain has:
-EC 1.7
-ppm 1350

On the canna chart is says EC+ 0.9 and EC total 1.5. Can anyone please explain?

I'm using tap water that starts with a high EC (ppm) value. I can also use water from a deep water well which has very low EC but I haven't had a water lab done so I don't know what other stuff is in it. Do you guys advise that I use the well water?

Thanks!!

1.7 is very high for early veg but if your starting with high water then your actual nutrient content is very low
Ideally you want your water to be low EC otherwise theres not much room in the total EC for your nutrients.
well water is probably a big gamble too. its not recommended.
if it was me i would go and buy a few big bottles of distilled water and make up a 1.2-1.3 EC mix for now to get your plant back to good health for a while and then sort out your plan going forward.
a small rain water tank is a great option if thats a possibility or a r/o filter. youll always have a good water supply then.
just out of curiosity what is the EC of your tap water ??? Im not convinced you cant use it because your plant looks underfed
