Some advice from a formerly employed mechanic, always keep your tools, and save anything that isn’t broken that can be reused, ie nuts and bolts, washers, brake hardware, that stuff can save your ass in a pinch. Some people are gonna hate on this next statement, but tools and skills will make you money and build your confidence. Toolboxes worth more than the vehicle you drive to work aren’t going to do anything for you besides set you back every payday. I’ve seen mechanics have their wives car repossessed rather than miss a payment on a $50,000 snap on with a matching hutch. As long as your toolbox locks and doesn’t tip over when you have the top drawer open all of the way, you’ll be fine. I’d rather have 30k worth of tools in my thousand dollar remline, than a thousand dollars worth of tools in a thirty thousand dollar snap on.
