Now I know it's not ideal but could I successfully dry my buds somewhat out of doors? Would be in an open ended barn in an empty stall. The barn is empty and it is reasonably dark all day.
Totally you can. It’s just that airflow had to be mitigated if it’s too much. As well as low hanging humidity, if it’s over 60% for a few days you should definitely trim before hoist. If you have any slat crates you can use they Do great. And varmints will abscond with nugs so take measures

I was at Lowe's the other day getting 2 x 70 dollar tables for my nursery greenhouse. I was totally gonna pay for one. I went to the self checkout but when I scanned it, it said I needed to wait for assistance for some reason. I was like fuck that, I'm not paying for BOTH of these. So I carted my 8' tables outside and pretended to look at vegetable starts for a few minutes before casually waltzing to my car with two free tables.. You won't catch me dead stealing from a mom & pop, but these big corps can fucking suck it..

I was planning on a rough trim before hanging them. The stalls are lined up in a way that should limit the air flow to a reasonable amount. I am a gadgetless grower no PH or humidity meter 🫣 I usually just grow vegetables which are pretty easy. I may have to move at any time unfortunately, other wise I may be less flippant about this 🤷‍♀️
I wasnt going to garden this season because of the potential move but fuck that I scratched this patch of earth clean and made it a garden with my own two hands. My father likes to call me a guerrilla gardener, not sure if thats a compliment or not but I am both cheap and ingenuitive so usually I make things work. 😅

PIcture of the barn with considered drying area circled. Also my little garden who could in the fore ground

Other picture is the garden who could when it couldn't and one of my helpers Tallulah (goes by NuNu){or NarNar if shes being evil}
Also T-Nar Nar, D-Noony, Barnoonicle, Blarney

Beautiful a frame trellis rig.

Super handy, you gonna throw plastic on it? Or leave it open. Nice little slice you picked to place them too.

Badass man!

All that stuff is for my veggies beans and peas. Pepper house will get a plastic roof. They don't enjoy getting rained on. All that stuff was pulled out of burn piles. I even found a bucket of rusty nails 😅 I bought a few bags of soil/compost and a couple feet of wire mesh to make a sifter so I could fix up the dirt but everything else is salvaged.

I love that Tree wen the extra mile and typed 'out of doors'.

This brings up a good discussion, what do you all think about drying at a higher temp / lower humidity than the traditional wisdom? SharkMouseFarms is a huge proponent of starting at 72F / 55%. They claim it speeds up dry in a safe way (terpene profile) while reducing chance of mold and other complications from extended drying sessions.

Well sometimes I do t have a choice in the matter, last summer was a tough one here, it was 81 days of over 100f true, and stupid high eh even with a dehumidifier and window unit in the lung room.
You can try to mitigate it the best you can. But we ain’t no match for momma. She was salty .
But as far as opening up terp profile, I always prolonged to dry, would even take plants on the hang, into the bathroom on the bi monthly every 3rd Thursday, shower day , let them get a rh spike to slow that moisture
Draw and get that terp profile into gear a bit.
Sometimes I have to do some dumb or unorthodox shit to offset this hell scape in summer.

One day, this state will somehow force me to run both a dehumidifier and humidifier in the same room together.
