They look so healthy and happy. Good job. They're all so big except the tammys and the mexi red. Are you still spraying them often?
I havent sprayed any peaceblasters for any fungi. And ive only put citric acid on 2 so far. Biggs and OJ x BB2

Im very happy with the garden so far :)

The tammys and Mexi Red went out in early June i believe. Theyre my only one's i successfully kept smaller. Smaller def being a relative term.

Theres not much for scale in the photos, those plants are still over 6ft tall lol. Even the Mexi red cross

I stopped bug spraying probably a month or so ago. I did decide to do one last spraying as flower is starting a few days ago, but it was just horticultural oils and lower/larger fan leaves only. Ill probably do one more to help drive away any mites that have hatched since some time tomorrow

I haven't sprayed the tops of the plants or colas for any bugs, there's a mantis or spider claiming damn near every main cola 😍

there are a lot of old heads who talk about 2 main regions for growing giant sativas. NorCal and Southern Appalachia.

All those famous, old 1970s skunks everyone wishes they still had? Those all originated from my neck of the woods from Nevil's strains while NorCal came up on Jack's. Or so some legend has it anyway.

Personally im expecting my half columbian plants to thrive as they are now, all the way through flower, rain or shine. Im not even going to use citric acid on em. They should be just fine without it. Just about every famous sativa from this area was a columbian cross. The columbian is famous specifically for thriving in exactly the environment i live in. It just takes too long to flower on its own, so you gotta grow crosses.

Steve Earle has a song about brewin moonshine planting seed from columbia and mexico right here in these very mountain hollers after vietnam. And as far as i know, thats how all those legendary skunky sativas came to be. Copperhead Rd specifically is not far of a drive. Like 30 minutes toward knoxville lol.

We also never owned any slaves way on back in the day, none of the families from here including mine. We were all way too poor and way too Irish for that. Nor did we where we came from, fought way too hard for way too many hundreds of years against that kind of shit for all that nonsense. So we can still even get away with being publicly prideful in our southern heritage these days. 🀣 πŸ€™

These three neglected duplicates are on their way outside next to the graboid mutant. They should pretty much stretch and go right into flower I think.

OJ x BB2 ( because for some reason I don't like the plant lol)

Biggs, and peaceblaster #2

Had to rearrange my tent, the mystery sativa has decided it belongs to her now apparently

Freshly fed. Cuttings tomorrow, and Into flower some time in next week or two for tent and closet both.

Gonna be a beautiful (and stinky) September over here.

Forecast says 80s and sunny during day. 60s and clear overnight for next week. Couldn't have better timing for that 😍

Mystery Sativa. Gonna be a very nice yielder. Excellent structure. Excellent stink. Lots of frost. My fastest flowering plant so far πŸ€” now she's going into flower, she has a serious old-school green crack vibe about her.

OJ x BB 2 or 3. She never got labeled. I already have a clone of 3 though, and 2 doesnt interest me much at all.

Here's an update on the OJ x BB graboid.

Her issue was definitely a hyper sensitivity to LED lights. She's coming back around fast. Gave her a good dose of GH micro the other day. Took it just fine under the sun.

Tomorrow clones.

Sunday....
Shit

Ok, now, I don't want to be a downer but, you sir are in an illegal state right?
When all of them are in bloom, how in the world are you going to keep it secret?
My closest neighbor is like 350 yards away. And lots of ridgelines. You smell pot in the fall here, you just do, and theres no way to tell what direction its coming from by wind, thats for sure.

You can also buy clones and seeds of "thc-a" strains *wink wink nudge nudge* in the headshops and hemp dispensaries here lol.

until i harvest, and cure the thc-a into delta 9, im not breaking any laws in Tennessee, hemp has been protected here for private cultivation since WWII

@cpurola you are breaking more cannabis cultivation laws then i am if you want to be technical about it 🀣 🀣 πŸ’šI'm actually not breaking a single one in my state. Not yet. I don't even care if an entire county police department is cataloguing every word on my journal. I haven't broken a single Tennessee law.

Unlike growers in medical and recreational states. I can cultivate as much hemp as i want to here, there is no plant count rule with hemp. And it's not considered marijuana until that thc-a transitions into Delta-9 in over-legal levels. That's after harvest lol.

Tennessee is the new cannabis wild west. Betcha didn't expect my answer to be "because growing weed here is even more legal than it is there"... even though marijuana is indeed against the law here lmfao.

You can legally grow more cannabis flower privately in my state, then anywhere else on the planet. No legal plant counts, no legal height restrictions. Nothing like that. my 12ft limit was just so the UPS driver doesn't see them because i don't feel like making new "friends". That plants also already 13ft now. Will prob be about 16ft tall and 20ft wide at harvest.

Tennessee: Hypocrisy at it's finest.

So, I was looking at the Graboid plant and the overhead shot.... I think I see a resemblence to the duck variety.

Frisian Duck

I can definitely see it too, but her lead fingers aren't fused where they join the leaf stem.

A lot of those leaves were on there when she was moved outside, and finished growing outside, they're a bit wonky. Her newest leaves are still tiny, but look almost fully reverted so we'll see what she really looks like soon.

The LED sensitivity isn't surprising. These ones been sunlight grown in The Ozarks for several generations.

My black ice x sunset s1 has the exact same LED sensitivity and root stunting though. But not as bad. She's coming around slowly. This one's roots still haven't fully filled the 12oz container. Haven't even hit the bottom yet

Tammy 2 makes her clone debut finally. This one takes forever to root. Over a month in Coco/perlite. Can I already tell looking at the three outside she's the winner of the bunch though.

Hey, I also have a tri leaf seedling going, Northern Lights auto. It's carried from the second to now the 4th set of true leaves. Pretty stunted, the shoots are already forming and barely any internodal space. It looks likes it carrying to 5th.

I e chosen this as one of my colodial silver victims. Do you think there's any genetic predisposition for tri-leaf? It'd be awesome if it could be bred out.

Do you know of anyone doing genetic work? Links to papers? I wonder if they have isolated say duck foot, tri leaf , creeper .

Busy weekend. I'll get to messages

i have a creeper pheno out there. If by creeper you mean those plants who's side branches grow horizontally and at the same rate as the main shoot. Peaceblaster #1, the giant is a creeper pheno. That's definitely stabilizable. That as far as i understand, is just a thing some sativas do lol. It's def something i look for.

Duck foot has been stabilized into reliable seed in a strain called Frisian Duck like cpurolla mentioned.

Im not sure on trifoliates, i assume so, but the problem with tricots is they often just fully revrt after several nodes, or fully revert leaving one fasciated shoot that eventually terminates in crested growth and reverts as well. Or if flowered will form a cristata in the main flower of the branch. It's more of a novelty then anything.

No actually, I've looked into what you're talking about, though that would be somewhat useful for what I have in mind...it's not creeper it's actually "vine"

I have frankengraft visions, for fun like.
Though, I have heard Hops is a viable rootstock option, could just use that.

Do you have any direct experience with grafts? There's possiblity that some aspects of rootstock affect scion. I would love to see quantified data.
Example: tomatoes grafted in tobacco roots make nicotine laced tomatoes cuz it's produced in roots.
Idk where what is produced, I'm assuming the noids are def in bud, but terps? Would they possibly flow to scion?

Ive made some grafted clone mothers to keep under a legal plant count before. That's the only time ive ever implemented grafting with cannabis. Only viable course ive ever come up with for it. The scions break free even after hardening often too. Viable as far as makes sense for a specific purpose. I have Had a vine pheno before, one of the sisters of the mother of my peaceblaster (Moonsocket/glue dream cookies) was a vine pheno. I consider them almost a nuisance. They are difficult to take care of if you are not expecting it to happen. I supposed you could rig up some cool setups with them hops/gourde style, but if i can, i like to see what individual phenotypes actually want to do as a full plant before i make any decision what to actually do with them, if anything.

I let trifoliates do what they do. As far as the vine phenos go, for my purposes, i would just do the same i did for the one i've had. Cull it because i don't want to deal with a plant that wants to grow like that lmao.

I can get down with a creeper pheno, you dont really have to defoliate or top them, and at worst you just end up yo-yoing them, or side trellising them in pb1's case, but they definitely out yield plants with normal node spacing and lateral branching, thats for sure. Even indoors if you prune them properly.

I imagine the same would be true, and then some with a vine pheno, i just dont wanna fuss with having to grow something like that. Im glad i dont grow hops or gourdes personally. I've grown them before 🀣

"polyploidism"

That's a cristata formed at the end of a fasciated branch, thats the mutation i was talking about being common in trifoliate seedlings if they revert. i kinda consider them umbrella'd under trifoliate reverts.... somewhat.

Yea ive had every mutation on that page at least 1 time lol.

A crested san pedro is the same mutation as a cristata forming at the end of a fasciated branch, cannabis just isn't a perennial. A cactus is, so it hangs around longer.
