I’m struggling here in Phoenix, temps high, humidity low, which is causing some problems, i.e. slow growth, older leaves crisping. Had them under a pergola for a while, and they seemed to be stretching, so put them in full sun, but then the leaves started turning, so returned them to under the pergola. Any suggestions, insight, heat stress (100+), ph issues (7.3), water (reverse osmosis), nutes (low dose fox farm). ???

I grow in hot and dry weather! Took a while to figure it out! First off, the bags are the wrong color! They are not full! And they are probably too small! If you start a thread, I will do my best to help you out! Phoenix is a little warmer than where I am, but not much! I don’t think your plants look too bad for growing in that hell hole! I just came through a July where the average high was probably 108°. Between 100° and 118. And I am getting a little long in the tooth also! Take her easy!

So when do you think they'll be done?

Long time yet. Still light weight and very white pistils on Blood Milk and Sky. Lots of time left although it's going down to 50f at night now, high 70's is as warm as she goes.

Granddaddy Purple Ultraviolet and Hawaiian Puff x God are both purple. Should be pretty once they get changing which they will because that's still 6-8 weeks out.

That's NOT what I wanted to hear/read. 😉
Feel like a Mother Hen trying to protect her youngins from the big bad wolf, and it's a losing battle.

I would try a lighter colored bag. Also how much are you watering her? I also use the grow bags and when it gets that hot here in So-Cal I water mine in the morning and the evening. And somehow you need to figure out a way to get her some shade for a bit during the day. Would definitely help. But she does look pretty good all things considered.

Thanks! Yea made the black bag mistake, and don’t think I can switch to white at this point. I’m not very experienced at all, but do read and try and follow those things that are not too difficult and are doable given my circumstances. Any hot weather help would be appreciated.

Thanks! I’m waiting to water until I see some wilt, and that seems to be every other day, far less than what you’re doing. I’ve been wondering if I’m watering too little, but the soil seems moist to the touch, and the water meter, for what it’s worth, still show moisture in the soil, so wait for the wilt. Yes, I’ve moved them back under the pergola, so they’re getting early morning and late afternoon sun and dappled sun the rest of the day. Try to increase the humidity by putting water in the reservoir below the plants.

And when you’re growing in the heat like that, your main objective is to keep the route zone, cool! And while the plants are small, most of that happens through evaporation! I use at least 30 gallon bags! But you still have to let the plant dry Back to a certain extent, so it can breathe! it is a bit of a delicate balance! In larger pots, you can water around the outer, third of the pot without watering the plant! Just to keep things, cool! And I never take mine out Of the sun! If you care for the route zone, the top half will take care of itself! But that’s a rough place to grow! You’re not gonna get trees! And neither do I! If you let the pot dry out too much, then the soil temperature rises! The roots don’t like that! If you keep the soil to wet the roots, don’t like that either! L O L! You’ll be doing some juggling!

I'm in Tucson , all my plants as far as tomatoes...peppers everything....cooked dead fried
I built a green house but if you want to go minimal I'd use a sun shade .... They are cheap on dhgate

Cut that sun exposure down and they will still grow

I took mine out of direct sunlight all day to a more shaded area and it helped them I was cooking mine at one point I don’t know if it would help yours or if you can move them ???

I can say the grassroots fabric pots are tan and have a liner. Me and my wife did a experiment with ac infinity 25gallon pots and 20gallon grassroots fabric pots. So far I will say they're pretty close in the amount of vegetation. Tomorrow we will pull the rest 3 more pots but I found it way easier to water the grassroots pots because it just doesn't run out the sides.😉 I also am running 30gallon grassroots fabric pots vs ac infinity 25gallon fabric pots for my cannabis.

I never noticed detrimental effects from heat but we go through two or three sun heat waves. Most often in the July month. But not to suggest August lets up much. Its forecasted to be cool for a week and then get hot again due to humidity on top of already high numbers. I hate muggy weather.

I did not look up symptoms shown here, but it was intensely hot when I noticed these unusual looking leaves. A couple small/medium branches had leaves that looked like this (posted image).

The one tree that did that seemed to normalize itself. I made a guess that it was due to excessive sun and heat. About a week ago. I really don't know. And forget some aspects of plant reading to track illness or sickness or stress.

Does that look like a symptom of heat stress? I never seen it before. Or I just forgot seeing it before.

I'm amazed that there's still moisture in the soil at that temperature. I have one of mine in a 20 gallon, give her 2-3 gallons of water a day, and the soil is bone dry by 5pm. Same with the one I have in ground as well. Over watering never crosses my mind in July and August. So yeah that's interesting to me.

These fotos are un related. Just a few rando images.

I really should buy another good 35mm camera. The S phones used to take better pictures. Granted I have dropped them all before. I may of upset some sensitive electronics in this one because a lot of the pictures blow.
