My first attempt at growing and I need help - what's wrong with my plant?!?!?

The strain that I was told that I bought as a clone was "DeathStar". From what I have found online about this strain - it sounds like it originated in central Ohio (where I am) and there seems to be some drama around it, but it also seems to have most people saying that the flowering time is 10+ weeks, so that pushed my decision to go ahead and switch the light schedule.

I guess we will know if that is accurate in due time!

Thanks!

So middle of January

Hey, next time you chop a plant like that and it’s split don’t ever just take it off of there. Try to zip strip it back together dude like you can literally cut the head off a plant and then reattach it and zip strip that shit and you don’t have to use rooting hormone or any of that you just need to make sure that the inner bark is making clean contact with itself.

Thanks everyone!

@Captspaulding I have seen the posts here where people have zip tied and taped plants back together - its amazing that they can recover from that! When my branch popped off of the main trunk, it was a clean detachment right from the "node" on the trunk. I tried to figure out a way to re-attach it, but with where it was and how it popped out... I figured that I would cut my losses and try to clone it. I probably would have done more harm than good trying to MacGyver something together..... LOL

For the record, the branch that I put into a rapid rooter a week ago is still somewhat showing signs of life, but she is looking pretty sorry right now. I did finally put a plastic dome over it to give it a fighting chance.

Yeah, the resilience that cannabis plant has absolutely incredible sometimes really you know? if you’re like into LST and that’s the way you prefer to train your plants because it’s one of the ways that I prefer to do it if I’m gonna be doing manifolds all over the place I will generally pre-zip strip the high stress points on a plant to make sure that they don’t split ahead of time Because I would prefer to not have any stress during late veg, early flower, but for the last two weeks of a plants lifecycle I will drill the stems at the very bottom by the medium in a few spots just to stress the plant and coax it natural defenses out, which is producing resin. 2 Weeks is not nearly enough time for plants to produce a healthy viable seed that Late in growth So you end up dodging that bullet too But other than that zip strips are fucking solid to your toolbox with this shit

That reminds me.... manifolding was one of the things I wanted to do some reading about tonight since I can't be in there messing with the plant during light out.... 🤪

@RootFarmer Yeah, I bought the clone back in August....before I knew anything about growing. It was supposed to be just a fun house plant that I left outside for two weeks - that must had triggered the initial flower stage. Since that time, I now have two tents running in my dedicated grow lab extra bedroom.... LMAO

@MisterDunk Right?!?!? I will be doing some reading on that too!

But I think that @Captspaulding is secretly trying to sabotage my 1st grow. I am over here judo choppin limbs off of my plant on my own, unintentionally.... and he is over here planting the idea of introducing power tools to the equation?!?!? Pure evil, man! 😇

Manifolds are awesome, just know that you don’t always have to go for symmetry when you do this sometimes you can just go with the plant with the natural growth traits of the plant and kind of let it go its own way but no matter what at the end of the day you can always make these things do whatever the hell you want

Thanks for that. You mean like a cannabansai? Lol I've considered that. I have a cutting like that. It was taking forever to root so I stuck it into my microcomposting experiment. It finally rooted and revegged, then it got left in the dark for about 24+ hrs and started to flower again. It's revegging again right now. A string of stupid stoner fuck ups. 🤣
Anyway, there's an easy way to keep a plant from blooming regardless of length of light exposure if you're interested.

@Captspaulding GTFO! Last week I was talking to my wife about attempting to train a plant to grow like a double helix with the branches trained horizontally. This one reminded me of what I've seen in my head for a long time. I saw a training method here once that might make it doable. You think we could get cannabis topiary into the Olympics?🤔

@Captspaulding 🤣 IDK who is in who's head but it's freaking me out a little. Salicylic acid will inhibit flowering if that is your ultimate goal. A white Willow bark tea will do the trick or you could get some Chitosan S.A. spray from Home Depot.

Very interesting!

"HOC₆H₄COOH. A colorless , bitter-tasting solid, it is a precursor to and a metabolite of acetylsalicylic acid. It is a plant hormone, and has been listed by the EPA Toxic Substances Control Act Chemical Substance Inventory as an experimental teratogen."

@Smokeshow IDK about all that lol but it might explain why this lady I knew when I was young would sometimes add a pinch of crushed up aspirin when she watered her house plants.

Just a quick update for tonight. She has officially completed day three of flower successfully! She was feeling pretty light tonight, but I will check her when the lights come on in the morning...she has been getting water every three days, but I think we are getting close to bumping that up soon.

Here she is just before lights out this evening...

And.....I found her first 7 fingered leaf!

Just a quick update for today, the first one in November!

I believe that today is "Day 7" of light change. She has really "puffed up" this past week. She will be getting RO water w/ CalMag in the morning. I will check the runoff ppm because "just the tips" of the leaves got a little crispy. I will get a good idea of what's happening based on those results.

I really hope that I don't screw this up!

The clone from when I topped her is growing like crazy, so I repotted her from a 1 gal to a 5 gal. I used the same FFHF soil and I dusted the root ball with Great White powder. (Man, that smell really sticks to ya....) LOL

I forgot to add my 1/2 time project this afternoon. I got both tents vented to the roof vent.

Luckily, the bedroom that I am set up in is the room that has the attic access, so I installed a quick disconnect dryer vent through the access panel to the attic. On the top side. I ran a couple of feet of flexible duct, then hard lined it right to the roof vent. My hope is that any odor is pumped outside. We are rural, so outside doesn't matter... the only person that I am worried about smelling anything is my wife. She is playing along nicely right now, but if I stink the house up.......I guess my next move would be to build a "tent room" in the barn... LOL

I used the AC infinity backflow dampers on the "in" side of the "y" and then used 3m zip tie sickies to hang everything up. If it would need to come down for any reason, everything is "quick disconnect" so in theory, it should be easy. Everything appears to be working well and now my "lung room" should only be pulling in fresh air.
