Hey, my first grow. Should I harvest now?

I found this: a good way to tell us
When most of the pistils begin to change color, they will indicate when the plant is ready.

50 - 70% color: Too young to harvest.
70 - 90% color: Ideal time to harvest.
90 - 100% color: The plant may be overripe by this point, so it's crucial to harvest at this stage

Mine has definitely reached the 70-90% closer to 100 each day that passes.

Shall I harvest now??
First grow should i harvest now

I'm not sure what pistil color indicates. I go by trichome development. Once the bud trichomes are all at least cloudy, you've reached maximum THC. I like to see at least 5-10% amber on the bud trichomes.

Hey. Thanks for the reply. IL be honest your talking to someone who is still learning and doesn't know much about these plants yet. 🥹 How do I check what you mentioned and where would you say my stage is from this picture?

Yeah, there's a lot to learn, and even more information to sort through. I can't tell from your pic how mature your trikes are. I use a little wifi microscope to get a close look. Something like this.

Wow 😲 I will look at investing in a microscope for future. I don't have anything that will zoom in that far now. Is there a way to tell with the naked eye whether mine is ready ?

You'll need to get a microscope... you can get em for like 40 bucks on amazon..

You can also get a cheap jewelers loupe .. that should help you see good enough.. but you won't be able to take pics

Looking good. Pistils are receding and she's swelling up. I'd aim for 100% cloudy trichomes but that never completely happens as you'll have some still clear and some amber. So cut when there are no clear left if possible, mostly cloudy but a few heads will be amber.

Have you got anymore pics? They're looking frosty. Probably in the window now or very soon.

Thank you for the advice.
I have ordered a digital microscope. I will upload some pictures of the trichomes in a couple of days 😊

go on aliexpress buy a 2$ microscope with the phone clip.use the phones camera and zoom to get 150X if you have one of those new fancy phones image will be better than a 500$ microscope.

A bit hard to see but looks like not there yet, as still some clear it appears. In person can you tell/see the difference between clear and cloudy with the microscope?

To me it's looks mostly cloudy and one or two spots of amber throughout.
I will try and take some clearer shots later to post.

I'm reading alot of information that says it's now personal preference- some wait for more amber and others cut when all cloudy, so I'm confused at what to do 😭🤔😬

I like it white with only a few spots of amber. The reason is because I want high thc. But also, I understand that degradation and the buds process still continues in the cure jars. After 6mo-1 year, white pistol harvested buds are basically all amber. I have always harvested white/cloudy trichomes so I cannot comment on how well Beyond harvest window trichomes change after long curing.

“white pistol” - white trichome
Your comment doesn't help me without any context. Only a very small percentage of pistols are still white.

And going by what I found online in my original message that is a good sign:

Ok thanks alot 😊🙌
My instinct says it's ready.
So I think I'm just going to cut tonight, dry and cure.
Plus this is only my first grow so if it wasn't great can always change it up next time.

Yes sir, those trichomes will definitely amber up for you in cure. And if you are like me and can’t smoke ounces a month, you’ll have jars for months in cure and they will turn over time.

I have a gelato that has been curing for a long time over a year. It used to be a buzzy day smoke with balanced effects. Now, it gets me a little more narcotic effect. So I typically use all my longest cured buds for evening smoke. Fresher earlier harvested buds for day smoke.
