It was probably me. I use them, and have a metal baking pan that I use as a drip tray, so I can pull a tray at a time for chores.

I use neodymium (rare earth) magnets. They are like 10x as powerful as ceramic disc magnets. The size I use is somewhere between 1/2”-3/4”, it’s metric, I think.

The new magnets still aren't strong enough BUT after testing them on a baking sheet I pulled an 8 x 12" sheet of tin from my solder bag I use to protect wood when I'm soldering and they sure stick to it. I don't think there's enough metal in the wire shelves so thinking of siliconeing tin down to the shelves and then the magets in the solo cups should hold. It's an extra step and more $ but not much.

First time grower. GG #4. Coco perlite mix with mild nutes. Spider farmer lights. Small closet grow. I understand and know my plants are too leggy. This one is 20 days old and is starting to develop stringy little hairs on the leaves. It can't be pistils already right?18-6 since they popped. Is it flowering already or is that just an indicator it's female?

I’d focus on your root zone temperature and also make sure that your soil isn’t over saturated with water. If the ground under your seedlings not warm enough it’ll keep the root zone from thriving, and over saturated soil will also slow down root growth.

I wonder if you could get thin fender washers roughly the same size as bottom of solo cup? Then you could arrange the solo cups on the wire shelf, mark their locations, then remove and caulk the fender washer to the wire rack at that location. Magnet in cup should be attracted to washer, which is permanently affixed to wire rack.
