Or does defeat the purpose of the spirit of competition? I was thinking I could “while lurking” just follow along a week or two behind doing my soil and plant.

That’s my favorite spot in the store

Last season I tried Jobes Organic tomato and vegetable granules in the garden in addition to my other amendments and…… WOW so I figured hey… why not try it with some canna… yeah… that was the cali blues outdoor run… as well as the previous Frostette before the one I just chopped,
Worked like a charm, stuff is great and it’s cheap, for a 12 gallon pot I used all my normal amendments plus 5tbs of the jobes.

Gotta say it did awesome on the canna
When I’m looking at organic amendments my only question is would I put this in my food garden, and what’s the NPK, gotta say the stuff is a great addition, I also used the TRU brand organic tomato and vegetable granules and had the same results on the other half of the garden

This 4lb bag is 8 bucks on Amazon even has cal mag and sulfur in it

And figuring the Gaia Green bloom is 2-8-4 and also 4 lbs but $30 on average, and this is 2-5-3 it’s just about a direct replacement (I used both 😜) ran it through veg as well as my flower mix

I know it’s coming so….

Kinda making me wanna test a full run using only Alaska fish fert for veg and up potting into the jobes amended soil 2 weeks before flower with nothing else added just to see how it’s do with just some mater neuts lol

Hahaha “I used both” that made me laugh : )😆 I like your style! I have seen this every year in the store for years! Always just figured it was another run of the mill mater feed. I’ll pick some up for sure! I got a bunch of the Jacks 20-20-20 after I saw you guys chatting it up : ) I trust the recommendations here whole heartedly.

not going to lie, I was getting a little agitated out there this morning because im fighting the solo seedling game hard right now lol! I channel It into “I will sell this house today!” Energy BWAHAHAHA!!!!

From my understanding, mixes with balanced npk is good for one and done, but recycling and reamending high amounts of excess phosphorus can cause lockouts that most often time are misdiagnosed as calmag def or ph lockout? Any thoughts @Mikedin

that has some good NPK and some cal mag too.

That one I’m not sure but it’s similar to the Gaia green 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 and I re-amend that soil some is on its 3rd cycle now with no lockouts or defs. But that’s with organic amendments, normally I stay mostly balanced the whole run, some I push hard like clones of strains I’ve ran before and think they can do more, and use something like flower fuel for weeks 3-7 then switch back to plain water for the last week-2 or as needed

I’ve found it the plant is really healthy unless you do something That throws it way off it can handle most imbalances through the rhizosphere if kept healthy and active.

I’ve read both sides of leaving excess neuts on the table at the end of a grow, but if you look at something like a no till, living soil bed, their GOAL is to never deplete nutrients in the soil and always have everything balanced and available and let the plant take as it needs. But I think that is 100% credited as a bonus to organics, if you were using synthetics in that situation that’s when a lockout would occur as the plant would no choice, but to uptake the P-K or leave the N- and the cal and mag (lockout) but also the PH is a major factor with synthetics but thanks to the rhizosphere we keep active in the soil we don’t need to worry about PH.

Thanks for the response, I had been reading and follow the no-till route (kind of in me recycling and re-amending too), just wanted to make sure and possibly let newer growers be aware that it could be an issue instead just calmag and ph

Absolutely! Yeah maybe I’ve just never left that much behind that it would affect the next grow but I tend to do my amending and up pot to final pot about 2 weeks before flip (or more) then flower top dress around week 2 of flower so I’m running low on neuts by week 6-7 and letting them eat up excess P and K as they bulk and ripen

Jeremy from build-a-soil has been on the top of my watch list on YouTube follow along with a few of his 10x10 series grows he runs living soil beds, living soil pots, earth boxes etc all at once and shows you the differences between them all, great resource and great guy he’s been hittin up all my insta posts lately lol

Totally similar though process, I just changed my mix a little to slight drop the P to be on the safe side combing Down to Earth 333 and Palm Tree mixes. Awesome on the macros and micros imo

This will be my third year growing organic in EarthBoxes in a 3x3. I'm currently wrapping up my 7th cycle in a row and these are by far the easiest grows I have ever done, and I started out growing outside when I lived on a dairy farm in the 90's.

This is how my soil looked right before flower:

I won't grow any other way now. Yields and taste are both FANTASTIC!! The only downside is you must be able to tolerate worms and predator beetles in your house. They are both vital parts of this style.

Is the thought that this applies to indoor grows? Seeing lots of comments re smaller container sizes and mix quantities that are pretty different than what I do which is 35 to 50 gallon bags or beds with living soil. Been doing that for several years successfully.
I probably would not participate but would certainly follow on this as it is IMO the direction we all need to head for quality & sustainability reasons.

I think you could apply this to the right outdoor grow : )

I had some 7gal fabric pots I tried outside this summer… I dont what to talk about it🤣 it wasn’t the pot size rather circumstances out of my control (no i didnt go to jail) hahahaha!

And the stuff smells like the devils ass too... 😂 HAS TO BE GOOD. I tried it for a bit, seemed to work out good, not sure why my dog likes to roll in that shitty stentch.
