I am new to hydroponics I have a question about mixing nutrients. I have a SuperSonics 16 reservoir and I got lotus nutrients for it. I am about to start my first grow in it. I’ve always used liquid nutrients in soil. But my question is it says I need 1 tsp per 5 gallons I am planning on mixing it in a 5 gallon bucket. Would it be better to mix the total amount in the 5 gallon bucket and top the rest of the reservoir with water? Or make multiple buckets of it? Any help would be appreciated.

sorry brother, switch to general hydroponics and i can help you out... don't think lotus nutes are of any use for cannabis . i would assume 1 tsp per 5 gallons would barely register on a tds pen (which you def need; along with a ph pen). i would suggest gh as its relatively easy for beginners & somewhat forgiving

I just bought these nutes so I would like to try and figure it out before I buy a new kind.

oops my bad, i had never heard of lotus nutes... i thought you were talking the lotus plant🤔

If it were me, I would fill 5 empty gallon jugs and mix the nutes individually in each jug and then pour it in the 5 gallon bucket.
I feel mixing 1 gallon is easier then 5 so I trust everything being blended better when I mix smaller parts.

I've seen 1 member on here that uses Lotus faithfully, unfortunately I don't think I've seen him on in awhile.

I'll see if he happens to still come on here or at the very least, find a thread where he talks about it.

Dont really understand what you want.use a jewler scale and mix how much you want.
If plant wants more use less water if she wants less use more water.
Or are you asking if you can make 100L and let it sit.answer is yes but algea will grow you will need to sterilise it every few days

If I was to switch to general hydroponics which ones would I need and what would be the best mix for it?

i would start with the 3 part flora series along w/ cal-magic, superthrive (careful with the superthrive, i only use 1 or 2 drops/gal) and silica, here are pics of exactly what i use. the jury is still out on the orca, i've never used it before (as often as i flush, i'm not sure if the mycorrhiza can get established, the hi-brix molasses is to feed the little suckers). check out gh website and they have a bunch of feed charts you can download for free

here's their basic feed chart i think i would start with. i use a very aggressive mix - up to 1400ppm. i wouldn't recommend starting out that aggressive . oh, and i almost forgot some rapid start (some say it's crap, but my girls roots seem to love it)

one other thing, it must be added in a very specific order, here is how i add:
silica 1st to fresh water, then calmagic {if not using silica then calmagic 1st}
then micro (blood)
then veg (green)
bloom next (pink)
other gh additives {if using}
then orca
hi-brix
rapid start
& lastly, 1 drop/gal superthrive
sounds complicated but it's a breez if you line the parts up in order until u learn the recipe
i'm not saying i'm right but my results should speak for themselves
if possible, always leave a little extra room in res in case you overshoot your numbers {ask me how i know this}😆
if i remember anything i'll come back and let you known
finally: ***i'm not responsible if you nuke your shites***

Why would you switch from dry nutes to wet ones? You pay for water and it expires every year...

@amneziaHaze, yea, i'm sure you are right. i've been out of the game too long. i need to just sit down, shut up and pay attention; you know talk less and listen more. i not only have to try and remember my old ways, i need to catch up on all the new ways. apologies to the farm if i've overstepped. [puts foot in mouth and heads to time out]
now where the hell's my fish? 😝

Noo any nute is good bit if he allready has a bag of dry nute its gonna last him a long long time i am at the end of my 600g bag after 5 years....

my reply above was a lame attempt at humor. i can only speak to what i know. my reply wasn't only to him, but to anybody else interested in gh nutes.
i have no quarrel w/ you. i see you're very knowledgeable and try to help anybody you can. i took a quick look at lotus and it looks interesting. i'll study up on it some more as until yesterday i'd never heard of it. thanks for all you do here -peace-

You didn't do anything wrong, you made a recommendation based on your experience. That's what helping people and being on forums is all about.

I always recommend the nutes I use (Flora Series as well) because I know they work and can give the advice to use them.

It's the OP choice to switch nutes and as a new grower, would I rather feed a nutrient that a lot of other people use and can give me advice on or a nute that no one knows anything about?

If I was a new grower and after a couple days of no one coming forward saying they use Lotus nutrients, I would personally make the switch to something that I could get advice on.

I use Lotus nutrients and run 4 5 galllon dwc buckets I mix 4 gallons of water with nutrients and I weigh nutrients in grams I love Lotus nutrients so do my plants if u r running autos cut the nutrients down when you start to flower I mix 4 gallon of water but add nutrients for 3 gallon
