Actually it looks like the new pumice is white I think but perlite is just still an expanded mineral, it just crushes and end up floating out, that why they use pumice to stay in place and the rice hulls will break down and provide silica over time

It’s different It’s solid and sinks and it doesn’t crush.

Rice hulls provide awesome aeration as well, until they are broken down of course.

Yep! I’m planning to split the aeration 50/50 pumice and rice hulls, will probably do 3 cu Ft of each then 6 cu ft peat, the the last 6 ft will be split between composts, will probably be doing 2 cu ft mushroom compost 2 cu ft earthworm castings and 2 cu ft composted manure or other type of compost I can find

I’ve never tried rice hulls but it’s either @cannafarmer420 , or @Rama777 , on here that uses them. I like the added benefit of silica to the soil.

And the full tang hand made damascus skinning blade with a tortise shell ladder grip
My son got me for the bday.
Ive taught him well.
Its the perfect size.
Its def my new daily.
Zero inclusions or defects in the blade.
Its honed, but looks caveman in the finish.
My style 100%

As a mulch layer and as aeration they are great. But there is a 0% chance they will break down into silica during a run, that would be if you reuse soil run after run. Even with a full ecosystem in living soil they don't seem to get broken down. I love them though I use a ton for aeration and much

I’ve never used them in pots. In the ground they definitely breakdown fairly quickly. Maybe worms go to work on them?
