Starting blue dream & grandaddy purp. Dropped seeds 3/8/25.

Just put seeds in rockwool cubes in propagation chamber.
Watered, ph'd to 6.7
Please let me know what your experience with these strains was If you've grown them.
Out of my last 2 grows, These are the strains that I struggled with.
So I am going to challenge myself and grow them both at the same time.

Seedlings sprouted on 3/13. Moved from propagation chamber into red solo cups with FoxFarm happy frog soil on 3/14. Watered 60ml at 7.3ph, just to get the soil wet (20ml of runoff) and moved into tent. 200w vivosun aerolight 30" above at 40% intensity. 2 oscillating fans (one at top and one at bottom) running at 50% speed 24h/day. Intake duct fan (at bottom) set to run for 5min every 10min. Outlet duct fan (at top) set to control max temp at 78°F and max humidity at 80%. The ExHale 365 is almost at its peak, so I'm curious how the timing of this will effect the plants.

Yes! Thanks for asking :) Just sprouted a few days ago. Transplanted into some solo cups and moved into the tent. Slight bend on grandaddy's stem and a little white but after day 2 it seems like she's already fixing herself.

Week 1 seedling. So far i have only given them distilled water ph'd to 7.5. Going to start nutrient regimen this week.

I'm a big fan of Grandaddy Purple and for years have been running my own inbred beans of my line all the way up to an F9 generation now. Quite a bit less experience with Blue Dream, but I have run out females four or five times. They're both very good strains, but I'm definitely partial to the GDP.

The only thing I would caution you about while you get growing is the differences in structures to these two plants. The GDP tends to put out shorter, squat girls with some girth to them depending on the phenotypes. The Blue Dream is more "Sativa" leaning, so the plants you have in that line might stretch out quite a bit more into flower than the GDP. You can control that, of course, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on.

The GDP is easy to finish solid in my opinion, but the Blue Dream takes a little more work. With the Blue Dream your grow, dry, and cure have to be pretty much spot on to get the most out of it -- you know, flavor profile, effects, etc. But people really seem to like it even after mediocre grows and finishes, so I don't know.

Anyway, I'd say just beware of your stretches during flower. You won't want your Blue Dream to crowd or shade out your GDP. They'll likely also have different nutritional and elemental needs, so it's prob a good idea to be aware of that, too.

Switched to veg today. Blue dream has 2 - 5 point leaves. GDP grew a second set of 3 point leaves but is working on the 5s. Switched to 5 gallon pots 4 days ago with a mixture of fox farm happy frog and ocean forest, added some extra perlite to the bottom. Soaked pots water ph'd to 7 to settle the soil. Started nutrient regimen while the seedling were still in solo cups about a week ago (only gave 100ml) giving them:
30ml of grow big
5ml of boomerang
2.5ml of kangaroots
2.5ml of wholly mackerel
in 1gal mixture
Gave them there second dose of nutes today, giving them both 500ml.
Raised light intensity to 60%
2 circulation fans running at 5 out of 10 speed 24hrs a day
Humidity being kept around 60%
Temp between 74F-80F

End of the first week of veg. Just gave them thier second dose of nutes. Gave them each:
30ml of grow big
5ml of boomerang
2.5ml of kangaroots
2.5ml of wholly mackerel
in 1gal mixture of distilled water ph'd to 7.7
Fed .5gal Each.
Got about 130ml of runoff from each.
Runoff water tested at 6.1ph for blue dream and 5.9ph for GDP.
Blue dream is at 5" and GDP is at 4"

End of week 2. They're growing super fast. Starting to have problems with drainage. Letting them dry out more. So now I'm only able to do one feeding per week which should be okay with the feeding schedule I'm giving them. Yesterday (Day 14 Veg) I gave them:
30ml of big bloom
5ml of grow big
5ml of cal-mag
5ml of boomerang
5ml of kangaroots
5ml of microbe brew
2.5ml of wholly mackerel
in 1gal mixture
Fed .5gal (Ph'd to 8.3, last watering runoff ph was only 5.8)
Then I topped it of with another 500ml of water ph'd to 8.3 just to get some runoff. Only got about 50ml from each plant. Realizing now that I should probably be giving them a gal each.
Also discovered the other day FUNGUS GNATS I put in sticky traps and that got rid of most of the adults, once the soil dries out I'll be sprinkling some food grade diatomaceous earth all over the top soil. Then in a few days my nematodes should be arriving in the mail. Never used them before but I'm excited.
Blue dream is growing much faster than GDP, I don't know if its just the strain but it seems stunted the way that all the branches are staying close together, and it might just be the contrast to how fast blue dream is growing but it does not seem to make much progress day to day. I topped blue dream but am waiting for GDP to grow a little more before topping.
Both plants seem to be pretty healthy, huge leaves that may have been because my humidity was a little high.

End of week 3 Veg. Almost ready for flip, doing alot of bending and tucking on blue dream to keep the canopy low in preparation for stretch. GDP is finally topped and starting to spread out. Fungus gnats pretty much gone, I think one more run through of the trio attack and I should be good. Yesterday I gave each plant:
30ml of big bloom
10ml of grow big
5ml of cal-mag
5ml of boomerang
5ml of microbe brew
2.5ml of wholly mackerel
5ml of kelp me kelp you
in 1gal of distilled water ph'd to 8.1 (trying to bring ph up)
Ended up with 600ml or runnoff from GDP which ph'd at 6.1 and the EC/TDS meter read 1400pm
From Blue dream i got 1000ml of runoff which ph'd at 6.5 and the EC/TDS meter read 1900ppm.
Overall, they're looking pretty healthy, growing strong, will probably be doing a defoiliation tomorrow or the next day.

End of week 4 Veg. I think I'm going to do one more week before flip. Have been doing alot of training (mostly on blue dream) to create an even canopy. I think I've finally got it to where I can leave them alone for awhile. I did the end of veg defoiliation (maybe a little early considering I'm going to do another week) but it should fine, even if I have to trim a little bit more. Watered 2 days ago with distilled water ph'd to 7.8. Gave 1 gallon each. Got 300ml of runnoff from GDP ph'd at 6.1, ec/tds meter read 1200ppm. Got 600ml of runnoff from Blue Dream ph'd at 6.2, ec/tds meter read 1300ppm. Canopy is about 13" from the soil and about 24" from the light. Light intensity is set to 70% and I'm gradually bringing it up.

in 1gal of distilled water ph'd to 8.3
Yesterday was day 1 of flower. Watered with distilled water ph'd to 8. Gave 1 gallon each. Got 300ml of runnoff from GDP ph'd at 6.2, ec/tds meter read 1350ppm. Got 450ml of runnoff from Blue Dream ph'd at 6.3, ec/tds meter read 1050ppm. Canopy is about 14"-16" from the soil and about 18"-20" (going to move the light up a bit more in the next few days) from the light. Light intensity is set to 80%, I don't think I'll go any higher, I'm already having a hard time keeping it below 80°F during the day cycle. Humidity was getting up to 70% so I put a dehumidifier in the tent. Canopy still looks pretty solid, blue dream is as expected stretching more, just trying to move things around without too much stress to get even light distribution

End of week 1 Flower. Gave first round of flowering nutes about 4 days ago giving them each:
15ml of big bloom
10ml of grow big
5ml of tiger bloom
5ml of cal-mag
5ml of boomerang
5ml of Microbe brew
5ml of kelp me kelp you
1/4 tsp of open sesame
in 1 gal of distilled water ph'd to 7
Let them go for a few days, then did a light defoiliation. Then yesterday I did some light training on a few lagging branches of GDP before watering.
Gave them each:
1 gal of distilled water ph'd to 7.8
They both had about 200ml of runnoff, blue dream ph'd at 6.3 and GDP ph'd at 6.6. TDS/EC meter read 1200ppm for both of them.
Light is about 20" from canopy with the intensity at 80%
Humidity: 55%-65% Temp: 72°F-82°F

Looking at your progress, I would have never guessed you had issue with these two in the past…looks dialed in bro, super healthy, nice canopy.

Both classic strains…I need to get blue dream back in my arsenal. It’s been a while, but l love that strain and she was always a pretty easy grow.
