So if I understand this correctly, my DLI is 20 and Photone is reading it at 18.7 on the meter. I should raise my lighting output to 20 DLI then?

If your plants can handle it yes, to a plant 20 DLI at 14 hours is the same as 20 DLI at 18 hours, most run the lower and slower method, one because the increase power puts our more heat, not just in the tent but on the leaf surface temp which can drastically throw off VPD, and transpiration, etc, but yes DLI is DLI

I don’t personally max out my DLI to what they “should get” because I don’t keep my humidity regulated it’s always low this time of year like 30%-40% at most, so cranking to max if toast em they wouldn’t be able to transpire

But if you can keep it dialed then hell yeah

The ScrOg tent is finally coming back around. Only took a couple weeks to bring em back from a major soil mix fuck up lol.

Was one of the worst acidic lockouts I think I've ever had. New growth looks great and the old growth is rapidly improving though. Another week of recovery and I'll probably make the flower flip.


I got high hopes for this Psychedelic Banjo x Giant Columbian pheno

A second banjo x Columbian pheno

And a Mango nectar x Haymeadow purps pheno

They all looked like they were about to die a week ago lmao

First I've heard of those herming.

I won't have nearly as much of that as last year. Turned some of that into canna oil and should probably hash the rest and focus on using that crop in general. Supposedly it loses 16% potency a year depending on storage. Which really isn't a lot, 16% of 25% or whatever it may be. Just doesn't feel kosher stockpiling jars of weed.

First you've heard of shaded off bottom growth herming? When cannabis hermies in the week 3-4 range that's pretty much the only place it happens, it's the only place I've ever seen it happen. Late flower herms are usually bananas up high. But practically all early flower her ies happen in shaded off lower growth. Lol that's been a thing that happens since cannabis was grown indoors. All cannabis does that. Even reg seed land races will do that lol.

Would be Mostly growth that you've lolipopped off those lower stems that's in your pick. The clean stems down low


Lmao it's a reliable enough way to force a stress Hermie I sometimes I leave a super shaded off wispy undergrowth to gather female pollen on purpose.

I actually Got a couple packets in the fridge I collected that very way


This tagged branch is polenated from fem pollen I gathered after collecting from force hermied shaded off stressed out lower growth. Gathered last summer. Used a couple weeks ago. That and post stretch branch breaks are my go to before busting out colloidal silver.

I was using voice text and when I read it back it felt a lot more Dicky than it did coming out of my mouth


The stuff I'm talking about is this kinda shit. That's where what I call larf comes from. And I always leave a few bits of this behind to try and get some easy female pollen. Doesn't always work. Sometimes I gotta mollest em and pinch em a bit by hand and stuff to get em to herm. And a lot of feminized stabilized plants will hermie on their own in this stuff if you leave it, stress or not no matter what you do.

It's going to be pretty shaded off to hermie, essentially completely cut off from light. For it to happen on its own regardless down there both parents have to have the recessive trait for genetic hermaphrodism and that's the reason why happening on its own is more common in feminized seeds. Recessive traits have to be present in both parents to express in the offspring.


Light leaks don't actually cause hermie in any of my experience over nearly 20 years, I've never had a tent that wasn't filled with scratch holes from my cats. There's full moons, couple of them, through every outdoor plants flower cycle. I open them at night for a minute or two here and there all the time. I take flash photos practically every single night.

Bouncing my photo period Around has caused stress hermie to pop, as does any stress factor that isn't usually present in nature. That doesn't cause the fully formed make flowers down low though. That either triggers bananas up top in late flower or stamen clusters within genuine female calyxes down low in early flower.

I've never had it happen from small light leaks or anything naturally present in nature. In the early 2000s though a lot of shoddy cannabis breeders were telling people that light leaks were causing their genetic hermaphrodites. They were using light leaks as a gray area to fudge over their non-mindful breeding practices. And to this day this intentional disinformation sticks in the echo chambers of social media.

If your plants grow full formed male flowers down low because of small or inconsistent light leaks, then your plans will grow fully formed male flowers down low if you give them a stink eye shit they'll do it if ya smile at em.

That's actually a completely different kind of hermy than the bananas within female calyxes I force down low this way though. And that's a whole other rant for another time lol

a lot of plants will straight up go to sleep at night. Drop their leaves down on the stems, and straight up retreat to the root system to sleep.
