Oh me, buddy me and you were gonna be friends because you’re onto the right track there 100% I wouldn’t really deviate from the way you’re thinking, because I always tell everybody all right, no matter what it’s always better to have your lights higher than any manufacturer specs that come with the package only thing that manufacturer spec is good for is a PPFD map but outside of that, you know that’s relative to what height you keep your light at less always more until you have your rig dialed it to hang everything higher. Turn your output down because you can always give a hungry plant more light and more nutrients if it wants it it’s a lot harder to repair a damage plant from a toxicity and light burns while still trying to get it to yield and repair it. I always say boost plants and leave your lights high the entire run
I have yet to be able to crank 80% output on a flowering room without damaging my plants in someway shape or form yeild chasing once upon a time I would redline my rigs and try to get as much as I possibly could per square inch out of my rooms, but my herb wasn’t as good I always figured you know if you’re gonna be the type of person to do what we do why would you rob yourself with quality just gotta smoke more weed if it’s not as good so at the end of the day having a little bit less really isn’t the end of the fucking world unless you’re just like a douche bag that’s all me first gimme gimme shit What’s the rush man? Also, you know there’s no rule that says you have to flip your plants from veg to flower at day 30 sometimes all my plants veg for four months because I plant 1 million of them and then my flowering room gets filled up and whatever I’ll just spin wheels and let the plants eat a bunch of nitrogen for as long as they can stand it and I can stand it Anyway sounds to me like you got the right head about it. These lights are extremely powerful and on top of that, the penetration through these leaves is absolutely mind blowing, even if you haven’t defoliated the plant in anyway.
And you know I can do runs where I have colas that are 6 inches away from my LED bars. You know what I mean and not do anything wrong to my plants or whatever you can always offset a lot of this crap with you know high circulation higher ventilation, a dehumidifier and air conditioner. There’s all types of things that you can use to curtail to your style while not sacrificing your plants strongest attributes in the late stretch of flower. Then after you’ve had a bunch of successful runs with the rig and equipment that you have you don’t even think about trying to dial it in because it’s just dialed in you. We are all critters of habit and once you learn how to get the best quality out of the stuff that you have. It becomes easy as fuck.
What are the biggest pains in the ass that I deal with around here and the people that feel like every single metric as far as data driven analysis relative to cannabis growing has to apply all the time every run no matter what when when I started you didn’t need any of that crap PPFD maps I don’t even know what that is you know DLIKPV hiv aids , flying sandwiches all that weird shit you know I don’t. I don’t fucking need any of that crap I know that some people do so they don’t lose their fucking minds or whatever but to this all go and I’m not knocking this stuff for the people who use this shit but a lot of the methods and variations in that stuff that has happened since like I don’t know 2005 you know the more that we got better technology this stuff started coming out. It’s just extra money that you spent on crap you’re still gonna grow the plant without that shit I promise you if you just listen, get your head out of your ass and look at some pictures. Talk to the right people and pay attention shit is arbitrary to me once you get the fundamentals down. It just is what it is at that point. Nothing‘s gonna change. It’s not like the plant’s gonna grow into a mutant to try to kill you if you do something wrong or you have a power outage I’ve always found it less is more and almost every area of cultivation

I can relate alot to this. the lights i purchased are 1000hp cars and all ive driven so far has been a farm truck.

It’s a super handy tool. It really is and the only reason that I rely on it so much is because man I’ve gotten nerve damage in my hands from climbing towers.
So it’s a nice tool to use in that regard when my fucking hand start to fucking wrap around the phone and I can’t open them Otherwise you know I’d be speed typing and shit like that but it’s just one of those things that I rely on nowadays, but I do have plausible built-in character flaw that I’m most likely a drunk psycho that can fucking write a mean run-on sentence with zero punctuation anywhere in a thesis worth of bullshit that I bloviate

It took me 16 months and a really good women to keep me from acting on my impulses.....ive stayed in decent shape my entire life and usually only use that strength to pull myself up trees with sliding boline knots(yeah not all arborists have fancy cranes lol) but ive realized my fascia and tendon strength from 27 yrs of working with wood is quite impressive. My time in jail being "solid" helped me read folks really good. Ya know what though.......the worst part was the staff and the food and not being able to watch plants be happy.......Kinda wish i could put my flowering plants somehwere away from my obsessed wife......dudes she has turned into a raging pothead supervisor

I’ve started a post using it. I must say like my dog start fighting in the backyard so I put the phone down and put the TVs on. I come back and every single thing that was spoken through the TV has been transcribed into the phone and the message that I didn’t post and guess what somehow it’s verbatim. Maybe I need to start my talk to text set it down on the table and then go in the other room and speak and it’ll transcribe my words correctly then.

Plus, you can use that shit to pick up a fucking truck if you need to the best knots are the ones that get tighter as you apply pressure to them
It’s like the only knot that has zero points of failure in my opinion and you can even add a safetyto it where most people generally stop and make the boline. There’s an extra step after that that you can apply when you loop it back through itself it becomes even stronger You got me geeking out on fucking knots bro. To early

In a tent, the only time I would ever use it or generally even apply outside of one as well as if you’re using a 1000 W or 5 x 5 light array general purpose for it is to make your plants be able to take in more light and more heat that translates in the more bigger and nutritional intake You use it below that a lot of the time I’ve found over the years that it’s really not worth it even if I could and had that equipment I wouldn’t even use it in veg, but there’s parameters out there that show that you can, but it doesn’t really matter. It’s all about plumping a plant When it needs to be pumped up
I use a 7000 or a 700watt equivelant
My largest light, for example, even at the with that thing cranked a 100% I would never even think about putting the CO2 under that with my plants because it just doesn’t have the output in order to be able to justify changing the atmosphere because certain strains can most certainly be grown under that light at full blast
So in order for me to kind of try to save people some loot who want to be the best parents to their plants that they can. I always tell folks man wait until you start getting into 1000 W lights once you get there it’s totally applicable in and flower you just gotta make sure that you keep your grow room tight and that your ventilation is always working the way that it needs to Because you know it’s not really great for us. If it starts leaking out into your lung room that’s designed like mine, which happens to be where I sleep every night

Oh and how can you tell if it’s needed if you’re getting to the closing weeks of flower and you’ve been feeding it right not causing any toxicity or deficiencies and you’re in the last four weeks of flower but you’re not seeing much advancement in your plant first thing you look at is gonna be your light Because if you yield suffering, you’re gonna wanna go ahead and ratchet that up a bit but it’s generally a yield numbers thing if you get to the end of your run and you cut it down and you go to weigh your dry flower, and you know that that strain is way more vigorous than that historically Then you might wanna start looking at things like that in order to get your plans to be able to pump up a little bit more with CO2 intervention I have a hard on for trying to do more with less all the time so CO2 it really is kind of one of the last things that I ever suggested somebody unless they’re just starting out and they’ve got bad ass equipment right out of the jump then I’ll let them know what the deal is with that

Yeah man, the shorter the run of your flex tube the better. if you’re in a tent, I always try to say find the highest CFM 4 inch in-line that you can because more is more power is definitely better than less power when it comes to in-line fans, but generally the shorter the run of tubing for your ventilation system the better. two reasons I say that is is the longer the run the harder your fan has to work in order to evacuate that hot air and unless it’s insulated flex tubing walk up to that tubing the next time you’re pumping out some of that good hot air when your rig is cranking, you’d be shocked how hot they are. They radiate heat through that foil pretty damn easily so if you don’t wanna go and buy insulated flex tubing for your system, I found that the foam that comes with lights that you buy, strategically wrapped around that tubing and duct tape. You can make some pretty easy down and dirty insulated flex tubing to rectify the issue Oh and if you know your in-line fans, don’t have the feature just get a high CFM fan and down and dirty fan speed controller. If it’s a rowdy ass fan that moves it a ton of air if it’s just left on full blast.
