well, the plants WANT intense light in flower, what they DONT want is high duration intense light. Just because they can flower at 18/6 at 500ppfd doesnt mean they wont flower better switched to 12/12 and 800-1000 ppfd halfway through buddingI've did it both ways let em get established in flower n flip em to 12/12 the bugs get bigger and denser on 12/12 and it's way less stress on the autos autos do t like as much light as people think when they flower em on 18-20 hours they get big fluffy as nugs that have no weight
They are recieving the same amount of light energy either way actually. What changes is intensity and dureation both, but in a balanced way.
Thats why i have people growing autos bump the light up at least 30% more intense when they make the transition. If you dont do that, your results will be WORSE on 12/12 then 18/6... For every 2 hours you pull off that dial, you can increase ppfd intensity by about 10%. With resinous sativas even more. Banjo can take 1800 ppfd in flower if temps are managed.
And thats the key detail people miss here
Auto growers, seriously, take note of this discussion. This is genuinely "take your grow game to the next level" shit for an auto grower.
@capone304 you and i should make a dedicated thread about this soon.
