I had some seeds from 1983, saved in a tic-tac mint container. Nope! How old is too old for weed seeds?
Reason I ask...I have a seed problem...I had some seeds from 1983, saved in a tic-tac mint container. Nope!. But, In my case, I started seriously saving seeds around 2019. Stored in test tubes, inside mason jars, stored inside a 50 caliber ammo can (with the heavy rubber seal). In a room that is basically 60 degrees and 60% humidity almost year round. And so far those seeds are still viable.
However I have obtained older seeds of unknown varieties, not stored properly , but kept dry? all over 10 years old or more, and none of them popped.

I have heard that the refrigerator storage is good too, but I never did.Reason I ask...I have a seed problem...
I keep buying them...gotta have this strain...Oops gotta have this one..etc. The latest ones I bought was...TITS....that one is self explanatory for the reason why. I have mine sealed in zip lock type bags in my refrigerator. I can only plant so many. My most unusual one is Kroeng Krawia....it's a Thai variant.
With desiccant!I have heard that the refrigerator storage is good too, but I never did.

I’ve been debating “no till” gardening for my middle garden tier. Any thoughts?Living soil is so effective
It makes it way easier in my opinion, what i Denis use wood chips, bark, mulch for thr paths and plant along them then use manure or straw around the plant areas. I barely ever water when they get established because with a good fungal network under the chips and whatnot will supply whatever they need watering wise as long as its nearby. There is leaf mold and all sorts of stuff to look into. But at the base just put wood chips on the walkways and manure around the plants in their area along it and you are good. You can always build it further but that there will give you healthy plants with high initial effort but long term its super low maintenanceI’ve been debating “no till” gardening for my middle garden tier. I tried on this northern lights I started from seed. Was the second victim of the ants? I pulled it and checked the roots. They didn’t look terrible, and I always give the stem a scrape just below the surface (supposed to promote roots). So it might have been ok, but probably wouldn’t have amounted to much.Give em all a chance![]()
It wanted to live so much now watch this mf take offI never thought this “abomination” would make it into my garden. I typically don’t care for my volunteer plants, but it looks so cute!

On the other hand, this one is still in the driveway. Looks ragged, and hasn’t grown any, but alive. I also dug up one of the other volunteers and passed it along to a friend for a deck grow. I heard it was doing good.I never thought this “abomination” would make it into my garden. I typically don’t care for my volunteer plants, but it looks so cute!

Looks like it made a feeble attempt at rooting up near the soil line! Pulling for you, driveway, dream! Kick some ass!I tried on this northern lights I started from seed.
