So what you're saying is we should probably wear eye protection while doing these types of things? It’s like a flash burn from welding! It’s uncomfortable for a few days!

Most of your hermie plant seeds should be mostly female. Then you run the risk of a bad trait, that the seeds will herm. Just a thought.I didn't know seeds from a non-pollinated female are more likely to be female. Have to keep that in mind when I start collecting them.
I know it can be a headache, but if I use bags or pots, I bury them with about a 2” lip left. I over dig, add aeration holes, use double permeable fabrics(so they still get H2O, and it keeps bottom pests out. I haven’t done it in years though bc of the extra work! Best of luck!I had that problem last year. Super tall and wide in 25 gal pots. Very top heavyand easily blown over. This pic was about this same time last year. Couldn't reach the top of some even with a ladder. Wasn't wanting super tall plants.View attachment 2491357

Damn those deer!Jim, have they stretched yet? I had the Mobey reach about 7-8’, but lost it due to my local deer. It was in a beautiful blackberry patch, but obviously they preferred a buzz over fruit. All said and done, I had 7-8 ft of stems!![]()
Ok. I knew about the hermie trait but didn't know the female part. Interesting. Most of your hermie plant seeds should be mostly female. Then you run the risk of a bad trait, that the seeds will herm. Just a thought.

Yep....stress seams to be the trigger. Most of your hermie plant seeds should be mostly female. Then you run the risk of a bad trait, that the seeds will herm. Just a thought.
Those are ruthless ass deer! I got em now though. I became a fall bow hunter!Damn those deer!
I see them stretching more now each day, and it was maybe a week ago that the Moby surpassed the Mazzy when they were just under 4 feet. We'll see. Most of August lies ahead, so more stretching is in store, but so is flowering. Maybe it won't get to 10 feet, but 6?
Hoss,Yep....stress seams to be the trigger.
It got cold a week after I put it outside, on mother's day.
Typically it's safe by then. But it's Ohio. Weather can change every 15 minutes, here.
Yup, today most cloudiness is gone. Doc says will be fine. Thnks.Damn!!! Are you going to be ok? Nothing permanent hopefully.
Good luck from one gray grower to another. I've got 2 autos doing a late summer run also about a week or so older than yours. So far so good. I was bringing them in an out after about a week old and set them in full time sun 3days ago. So mine are approx 15days old now.Day 7 of late summer auto. Top Critical, others Amnesia Haze.View attachment 2491553
Oof... Yep, happens here in Florida ALot. Tanning beds can do the same thing. Learned my lesson when I had a saltwater fishtank. UV Sterilizer, doc said can make cataracts come on quicker later in life . Feeling it now , I'm 46 now burnt mine in my 20s . Just make a habit of buying eye drops for nighttime use for the next 6 months . To help repair the damage . My daughter and myself has had eye issues all our lives, my daughter has had pretty intense eye surgery. so seen lots of eye doctors over the years . Mother in law has macular degeneration. My mom has non operable cataracts . Any time you scar your eye, the tissue hardens some ...so keeping them well hydrated for extended periods can really help heal reverse permanent damage . Adding good eye drops and eye supplements to your routine after anything traumatic like that can improve it . Feel betterSo, NEVER look at uvb lights. I was hooking mine up, checking bulbs. Bla,bla. And the next day woke up in middle of night with sunburned eyes.went to hospital. Said i got eye burns. Everything is cloudy and painful. Will take a few days to heal. Like a regular sun burn. NEVER LOOK AT UVB LIGHTS UP CLOSE. this experience is so frightening when it happens. Still feels scary, as vision is still cloudy, and have to trust doctor it will return. This has been a public service announcement
Thanks, I’m actually using your updates as my guides and @durbin92810 updates too. So I’m keeping it simple.Good luck from one gray grower to another. Speaking, strictly for myself, I’ve never seen an outdoor plant herm! Mine or anyone else’s!Yep....stress seams to be the trigger.
