Damn that blows bro! So besides the screws being tinkered with, there isn't any dimmer or it doesnt work? Not sure if I understood correctly. Anyway it really sucks.

My very first grow light was also fucked. I lived in a small town back then and the only head shop had this 600w hps hanging in his store. There was a dent on one side of the frame, but the light seemed to work fine and I got it a bit cheaper. Anyhow, about 2/3 into my third run the mofo just tapped out. I even bought some new bulbs for it early on... Not long afterwards that light, plus another 400w I borrowed of my friend was taken by the cops. I never got my money back for the 600. The shit cherry on top was that my friend asked me to give him the $ for his 400w. I offered him to pay him for his loss but first he was like "nah homie, we're cool, sorry for the shit you going through" but later on the wanted the money anyway. About 500 bucks blown in the wind - plus the 400 something for the broken 600w...

That blows, well since I’m gonna order parts I’m gonna keep it hung up, but I’m gonna put my old lights back up underneath it and just hang them off of it and then when the new components get here a wire in solder everything up and give it a whirl if at that point it won’t modulate I don’t know what the fuck is wrong

Well, the thing is about that is that I don’t know maybe a year and a half ago I traded a dude on here a bunch of seeds for this light now it was supposedly a light that was one off of a contest here on the farm. well it sat in the box And once I finally decided to break it out now I get to inspecting over it and I notice how many of these screws have been removed over top of the power pack housing whatever I’ll go ahead and I’ll fix that and I’ll straighten them up because whoever put them back in there put them in there all fucking crooked and shit but anyway I hang the light get it going turn it on. I have no ability to modulate it and change the Power. It’s putting out 500 PPFD
Damn shame too man because I gave Homie a bad ass fucking deal and it’s really kind of funny because he stopped hanging out on The Farm as soon as he went ahead and got my seeds ran a grow of my gear and then dipped because he knew I wasn’t using it right away.
I hate getting take advantage of man
Pretty sure he already had one, then won a new one went ahead and replaced it. That’s why it didn’t have a power cord when he sent it to me. @Asmodeus if you ever get back on hit me up bro. not as advertised homie.
Now I assume a good portion of the blame here because I didn’t go ahead and troubleshoot it as soon as it came in I just took dude‘s word for it and that’s my fault but it’s kind of lame

Yeah, it’s the taken apart thing that kinda has me stressed out about it dude because if it’s refurbished, you would think that the guy at the factory would’ve taken the time to put the screws back in correctly. These were all haphazard like not even lined up in a couple of them like I could’ve just grabbed two of them and pulled them out with my hands. Aside from that, I mean, there’s plausible deniability.

Yeah that sucks. I think I’ve learned my lesson on buying stuff and not inspecting. I bought what was supposed to be a discontinued set of moldings I needed for a car. Ensured the part number. They sent me different part number. Three years later I discover it.

I had something similar to this with the aci and a connection from the controller to the driver pulled out. Heck that was so frustrating.

It’s a dimmable light, it’s just not dimming or getting brighter.
Is like a check switch isn’t triggering on.
See there is a on off switch independent of the dimmer switch. The dimmer switch clicks into modulation at 10%-100%
It’s not the power cable either I went nuts looking for the correct one. Because you can’t find components “phlizon” brand replacements. Phlizon and any of its “series” be it fd6500 ect, is just a brand name the actual product name is a gavita 1700e,
Finding replacement cables for these lights can be a hassle sometimes and you gotta know exactly what the hell it is before you just go Willie nilly purchasing a cable because these LEDs for horticulture require a control cable that has the ability to trickle voltage to the capacitor that allows you to change the output There’s wall washer LEDs, for example, that are used to highlight exterior architecture of buildings and homes, but they look exactly the same on the face. They just don’t have the control wire in the cable itself and they won’t modulate so I know for a fact that it’s not that.

Yes I most certainly can do both, and i for sure will, gonna take me a few J’s and some mental planning and a few weeks to get this going, but I’m thinking the same thing, mainly because of seasons and how light varies during each one, and how light varies depending on what part of the earth you’re on. I agree, I think some will dig it and some won’t, but I’m also curious to see if there is something else there with light time and bud density… who knows if it’s as simple as, less heat and less light mean less precipitation meaning more water in soil meaning more water uptake while under coooler climate because it’s “night time” hmmmm

I was being like the kid with a magnifying glass who fries ants just to see what would happen and bounced a few different plants between veg and bloom to try and get a good benchmark as to how fast they'll throw it in reverse, and honestly between the different strains they're all over the fucking map. Grape Pie, once it flipped, it didn't want to go back and I'm still fighting it back into veg. Banana OG, it seems ready to go whatever direction you want to send it in a couple days. Could be a good candidate for easy reveg after a harvest. All seem to go one direction better than the other, found that worth noting for future runs playing with those strains.

You gotta be swift and merciless early man. I generally top most of my plants at the fourth node. That’s including the Coty leaves.
A lot of the times my plants will be pinned out for eight way main lines almost by the time they make it to a normal veg cycle
I do a lot of this stuff this way in order to maximize my plant ability to sustain and hold up its own canopy and there’s a lot of people that say you have excellent amount of tops but they’re gonna be smaller in certain size pot sizes and I’m here to say that’s not the case it’s all about how much you feed and when
If you build a frame, that’s thick enough to sustain you can have as many damn colas on a plant as you want regardless of pot size but early and without mercy get the lopping heads off

Silica was a game changer for me when I started using it. I will never grow hydro without it again. I was growing in a basement with some powdery mildew issues and it disappeared. I've never gotten it again since.

I had spider mites, leaf hoppers and aphids all get in the tent this grow. None of them

Less energy cant produce more material. But less heat will preserve more terps.if your gonna do longer darkness at the end then do longer light at the start to balance it out

I had grok calculate my cost of my grow taking in mind the electricity cost where I live for the fan light and dehumidifier the nutrient cost and cost of coco and a small amount for seeds Comes out between $15 and $30 an ounce depending on yield and I once again ask

How is anyone not doing this?

I usually run 20 on and four off and I do that for a reason
Longer darkness is never gonna transfer to larger plants. It just allows the plant to transpire, which is basically just sweating out the days activities of growing into a light that it’s really enjoying and eating like a fat ass, etc. that being said in my experience more hours of light does transfer to a larger yield, but you still gotta know what you’re doing because with some people longer light equals a more burnt plant and then they wonder why their yield isn’t getting larger at the same time
So there’s a multitude of variables that come into play that dictate the outcome but if you have an idea of what you’re up to then in my opinion, the squeeze is worth the juice cause I’m not the type of person to run all of my gear at 100% output just because it can do that. I generally run all of my lights all the way through to harvest to about 70% output Which translates to a larger yield in correlation to a longer amount of light per plant

Cell a standard veg time of 30 days @16/8
Is 480 hours of light
A 20/4 is 600 hours @ 30 days
That’s a lot of a difference and you’re allowing that plant to get so many more essential vitamins from that light so logic would dictate……
