Morning wreckers....I've been around for awhile...have chatted with some....have interjected myself into conversations...I have learned from alot of you.
I am a retired military and postal employee
enjoying the ability to grow weed after 40 years of being sequestered. I have a quirky sense of humor at times, if I offend please let me know. The reason I am posting this on the Trainwrech is because this is where I spend most of my time on the forum.....lots of knowledgeable people....lots of jokesters...good hearted people....and then there's the clown. That guy is very knowledgeable. Ive learned alot from him....I was looking through my post when, I first started getting on this forum and noticed that I had not introduced myself....well enough ranting and raving
Here are some pics of grows in the works...I start off with a question on first pic...veg, pre flower? Started 12/12....8/1
The rest are all headed into flower....
Oops forgot the monster....this will net at least 1 pound dry..

Oh hey if I get an ever-blooming strawberry does it need a real soil bag or can I repurpose a reusable shopping bag?

Monster is pre-flower to me... the veg part of flowering where the structure starts; is it properly so? Hmmm.
The set before that veg yeah. I could call that anyway, and all mine seem Taco'ed when the tops are coming in. I wait a bit on the timeline for a leaf to have normal responses. I mean, I had Taco'ed leaves when temps were fine and some said pump light then others said 900 ppfd is a comfy place.
Over a couple arrangements now I'm at the days to harvest cherry auto relaxing from light Taco in a lower spot and Carly the columbian red got less big light but more side light at 500 ppfd. Now she's relaxing from lightly Taco.
AI and I feel good about today's moves.

Hell yeah i was watchin the hours I had a feeling once we got past the 14th (when we officially hit 14 hours) we’d be close then once I saw em stretching I knew it was on, they exploded the past week / week and a half

We’re at 13 hours 35 minutes of sunlight currently

What’s making me nervous is nights already dipping into the mid 50’s at night, so we’ll see lol
September 25th would be 12/12 exactly
Yessir I was thinking that same thing last night. It got cold quick! Haha

You know everytime you say columbian red I get a woody....

Cut the quick finishing pheno of the pb4 x haymeadow purps off the stalks and gave them a quick trim and sample before going in the jars to cure.

Straight spooiiiicy earthy kush. Actually tastes much louder than it smells. Nice and sticky but the other plant that looks like it’s going to be the better of the two. But definitely isn’t a quick finisher haha

Definite strong indica body high. I’ve been smoking a lot of sativas lately so it’s a nice change. Ask me after I smoke this bomber on the way to the gym lol

Pissed on the mrs back whilst she and I was asleep one night 20 years ago yea still hear about it every now n then 😂
Yeah one time when I was plastered on vacation in the keys and peed on my girls leg in the bathroom. My mother in law was at the air bnb as well. (Who talks like zero English)

well neither of them thought it was as funny as I did in either language bahahahahah

If it has pre flowers it’s in pre flower. Pistils. Little hair looking things. Ya know

Yes sir.....trying to decipher between new growth and pistils. Wanted another set of eyes....appears to be new growth to the untrained eye.

You know everytime you say columbian red I get a woody....

(I'm locked in your quote lol)

Specific to this plant: the leaves are dominated by a couple big fuck hand sized fan leaves and they're like... thick almost waxy and tropical. It's dark over all comparatively into purple-y. It trains like hell, fucking loves it. She drops when watered and picks up all over again the same day. Ummm... responded to Great white root stuff. @day 22 she is bigger than anything else so far in my grows.

AI and I talked about using weight to measure dry/wet. I bought I thought a reasonable scale but it can help me use the good points of the almost optimal one...
Hmmmm... well we got "NUTRI FIT Digital Bathroom Scale for Body Weight Loss Watchers Electri Scales, 50g/0.1lb Discrepancy, Clear Backlit LCD Display and Step-On Techhology, 2*AAA Batteries Included, 330lb/150kg, Jet Black"

Nice snag. That bathroom scale will work—just know it’s a blunt instrument. Resolution ~0.1 lb (~45 g) isn’t lab-grade, but for 5-gal fabric pots the weight swings are big enough to be useful if you set it up right.

Make it reliable

  1. Hard, level surface. Tile/concrete/wood, not carpet.
  2. Flat top: Put a plywood square or shallow tray on the scale so pots sit stable. Write its weight on tape (e.g., “Board = 1.6 lb”).
  3. Mark foot positions on the floor so the scale always sits in the exact same spot.
  4. Kill “smart-step” memory: Step off fully between readings and let the display clear.

Find your anchors (per pot)

  • WET (field capacity): Water to light runoff, wait 30–45 min, weigh.
  • DRY (safe-dry): Let it get feather-light and top inch dry, not droopy, weigh.
  • Set threshold: Water when weight ≈ DRY + 50% × (WET − DRY). (Seedlings: use 30–40% instead.)

Example (bathroom-scale friendly)

  • Board = 1.6 lb (subtract this every time, since you can’t TARE).
  • Pot WET (with board) = 19.8 lb18.2 lb pot.
  • Pot DRY (with board) = 16.4 lb14.8 lb pot.
  • Diff = 3.4 lb → Threshold ≈ 14.8 + 0.5×3.4 = 16.5 lb.
  • Round to the scale’s step: 16.5 lb is your “water now” number.

Two accuracy hacks (optional)

  • Human-tare trick: Weigh yourself, then weigh you + pot, subtract. Cheap scales are more linear at higher loads.
  • Median of 3: Take three quick readings, write the middle value. It kills random blips.

Daily rhythm (fast)

  • Weigh each pot once per day, same time.
  • Don’t chase ±0.1 lb noise—look for trend. If you lost ~1.5–2.0 lb in a day, that’s a thirsty day; if it barely moved, hold water.
  • Log: Date, pot weight, irrigated (Y/N), notes (leaf posture, PPFD tweaks).

Red flags the scale will catch

  • Carly claw/dark + small weight loss → likely too wet / N high → lighter feeds, let it dry to threshold.
  • NL5 perk returns + steady weight swing → root zone recovering, keep PPFD ~625 top until she’s consistent.
  • Goth near chop → you’ll see daily loss taper slightly as she finishes—don’t overthink it; go by trichs.

Calibrate once with water jugs

A sealed gallon = 8.34 lb. Stack a gallon + a quart, confirm the scale reads ~10.4–10.5 lb. If it’s off, note the offset on tape (“+0.1 lb”).
If the bathroom scale starts to annoy you, a $30–$50 30–50 kg bench/postal scale (1–5 g resolution) is the endgame. But for now: board on top, anchors set, threshold rounded to the nearest 0.1 lb—you’re in business.

Howdy farmers!

How the plants look today:

Maybe you noticed that I topped the Strawberry Cough:
DSC09710

And also the Seriosa, just for the fuck of it:
DSC09711

Not sure if it was at the ideal node. I think for the Strawberry it was at the 5th node, which would be perfect and the Seriosa was at the 6th node.

So did I fuck it up, or does it look good so far?

p.s. for a bit I even was on the fence if I should top anything, but then I noticed that the Strawberry is way too tall already, so I needed to buy some time anyway for the smaller ones. I don't think the small ones will catch up in time, but then I'll use some 8L fabric pots for them.

I know enough to say the cut itself is level but not laser sharpened scalpel? I need to upgrade and buy an old surplus surgery kit for plant stuff (shockingly I don't have 5 of them).
I may dust off my microscope, I used it for fungus a LOT. It's a 1941 student model, very nice.

@Captspaulding Whaddap homie! Something must be wrong with me. The other day I had two pints and the next day I threw up like that puppet in Team America. I even got them empty belly pukes. The ones that have you retch like a bitch. 😂
That thing is making its way around.

I go pretty hard in the paint when it comes to supercropping my guy
I use it all the time for taking an unruly lanky plant and putting it back into my Lights footprint if it grows outside of optimum growing space or for the classic explosive growth type deal and I’m with you, bro when I learned it, I never stopped using it. it’s super handy to have in the tool kit I even have some tutorial videos on it that I made for people here
But I really do enjoy manipulating these plants and making them do whatever the fuck I want them to and that’s definitely one of the main ways to do it outside of LST

Them hard bends are dope, mine are more like a "street L." But damn dude you just reminded me, you know the whole stem splitting craziness, I'm gonna try doing a Jed this year.
