Greetings Fellow Pharmers!!

I've made a few changes to my room:

First, I upgraded to Magnum XXXL 8" hoods :anim_19:
They are probably the best thing since sliced bread!! I love em, if you dont use em, you should... if you can handle the SIZE of this hood, and the weight too! because they are heavy.

Here is my new upgraded and insulated manifold for my Ice Boxes, switching from the poly tubing i WAS using to this (3/4" inlet, 1" outlet PVC) has already made a HUGE difference in temp control AND the frequency my chiller turns on:

Manifold.JPG

Manifold2.JPG

This is my "AC" as you can see above, the two hoods are connected, and attached is one icebox. The other IB is hung with a 440cfm fan and does a GREAT job in keeping temps steady:

This is the poly tubing that connects the manifold to the iceboxes, it is wrapped with pipe insulation (its like insulation glued to a foil tape type of thing, works GREAT but was really hard to install)

These are my dehumidifiers, they used to have issues some times (probably because they used to be on the floor and i had to move em around to walk around, and their draining would 'mess up' but thats been fixed ;) )

Dehumis.JPG

They sit on a elevated table inside of a plastic bin, up out of the way :)

Dehumis2.JPG

if you look closely, you can see that the bin they sit in also has a drain that drains to waste aswell:

Day 1 18/6

So these pics were taken last night Day 1 of 18/6. they are right out of the cloner for these pictures.

Day_1_veg2.JPG

If you look at the little one on the bottom left of this pic (below) it looks really small right? well, the reason i put that one in the room was because it actually has 7 (yes seven!) internodes already! but isn't taller than like 2.5 inches!! It's so dense, I wanted to see what would happen.:rasta:

Day_1_veg.JPG

this is a pic of one of the bigger plants roots, its how big some got in their cloner :)

Plant_roots.JPG

unfortunately I had some cloning issues, the rez got warm and killed alot of my plants :( I was going to do a SOG this time, but didn't have enough plants. I filled half the room with 16 plants, and will be filling the other half with SOG style posts when i have enough clones. idealy a month from their 12/12 flip. I wanna do a staggered perpetualish grow.

well thats all for now. I've made alot of changes both inside and outside the room.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Pharming!

greetings

sick setup. what strain you running?

thanx for stopping by! Im running Stardust 13 (its G13xHash PlantxNorthern Lights)

Nice can wait to see some plants in there new home...
Q: How big is your chiller....what is your ambient temp/humidity...and what temps does it run lights ON....

hey SkyHi! thanx for lookin' My chiller is a JBJ commercial 1HP chiller. It's awsome and very well made :) I can run any temps needed. Before i put the plants in the room, it was tested and i can keep the room at 78F if i wanted to (with extreme ease, my 'AC' only turned on for about 3 mins and off for like 15-30 mins so it isn't running all that often either I wouldn't be surprised if i could maintain 70F lol) but Im running CO2 so ill be keeping it warmer than that :) oh and the humidity i keep at ~50%-55% for veg and ~40% for bloom. the temps right now in veg are 81F during the day, ill raise it to 84 for 12/12.

Oh yea, i moved my CO2 gen to outside the room and i duct it into the room, ill try and get some pics of that soon too :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Even with the hiccups, you have shown your system's awesome potential!
Did you ever take pics of last run's root mass that was pulled out of the posts after harvest? Keep up the great work! I'm sure it will only get even better.

Very nice 2K setup (liquid cooling). Can't wait to see what kind of results you get! Your lights are on some kind of pulley system right? Looks like your on your way!

Excellent setup! I run a LR5, too. Always was wondering if it would be strong enough to hold up the XXXLs. I guess it is :D How heavy is the fan/icebox combo? The counter weight looks heavier than one of my lights...
Can't wait for them to take off.

GL!

PS: I would replace that white extension cord that's running on top. Don't know what's plugged into it but that thing doesn't look like it could handle a 23W cfl...

Hey TrichromeFan! Thanks for the kind words :) actually I didn't! after I read your post i remembered I said i would :( but i totally flaked on that. I can comment tho that they were nice size roots on most of them. they all grew together into one mass and slid right out of the post very easily. then I attached a sponge to a pvc pipe and scrubbed inside the tubes with bleach water and the tubes became like brand new :)

Thanks LEBDOG! actually the lights are on a light mover (the metal bar in the pics) and they are hung by those metal adjustable hanger things that i got at my local hydro store. I think ONE of those is rated for 33LBS so together they'll definetly work. but it is VERY hard to adjust the height of the hoods because of the weight (its more of a two person job, but i can do myself if i need to)

haha I love the name :) thanks for the complements! about the mover (which is awesome btw very strong)
I'd say its strong enough definitely but because of my set up (a about 16LB inline fan, plus the icebox and water inside) made things a bit tricky. one bar is actually shorter than the other so that I wouldn't need to add even more weight to counter balance it, if that makes sense lol. which works, it is well balanced. BUT these hoods are so big they are like sails and catch the breeze from my fans (which point more upwards, my plants just barely wiggle no crazy winds directly on them) and it wiggles more than my other hoods on the mover, i could see the motor shift, that makes me a bit uncomfortable.. right now the mover is stationary. I'm thinking I might keep it that way for the whole grow this time. I don't want to risk all that weight falling, breaking, then killing everything! ahh! no one wants that. and I'm a bit of a worrier so I don't need to be thinking all day that it might all come crashing down.

so for me, right now. I think the light mover will be stationary. but ill have full control over where they are. i can raise the lights high, and turn the mover on for a sec and move em that way too, if i needed too. The light footprint this hood puts out is WAYY better than my old hoods. the mover isn't really needed anyway. hell i could grow veggies on the other side of the room probably ;)

That real cheap extension is for the oscillating fan in the corner, its just up on the roof so i dont need to step carfully around cords. my last room was a little more messy with my electricity cables, not so this time ;) must more organized this go around :)

Do you find that pulling the air through the IB is better than pushing it? I will be running a very similar setup only not on a rail. My research on them turned out that they were great for Veg but not so great for Flower. Things look great in there and I look forward to seeing things progress for you. I should be up and running with my next grow in a few weeks and will start a journal.

Are you going to use a trellis or a screen this round?

I thought about using a trellis, but I found a bunch of bamboo stakes among my random pack rat collection ;) so I think Ill be gorilla taping the bamboo to the posts (probably 2-3 per plant so i can tie them however i feel they need)

However Im up for suggestions if someone has expierence with this kind of grow, Im a SOG man myself this style (and my last grow) isn't the style im most comfortable with.

Most definetly, I would definetly plan to pull the air through rather than push. im not entirely sure what you mean by they are better in veg?

thanks for the kind words, and i look forward to peepin your journal, I love my Iceboxes very much, like i said, i have no other means of cooling my 2k,my co2, or my ~900watts of dehumidification. all create heat, that my two iceboxes get rid of ;)

SHADY!! whats up. yea bro my bad I became hella busy with the upgrades and regular work and stuff :/ but i don't think ill be flaking at the end of my journal like last time. i do apologies. im always sad to see a unfinished journal when i'm browsing :(

glad to have ya aboard :)

Mystre,
have you tried the trellis netting? I have seen some people on here use it, and it seems like it might work for your application. I see it at the hydro stores, and Amazon has it for $16 for a 5' x 30' with 6" square openings.

that shit looks like the ticket ;) what would i need to attach it to? would I try and make it tight? so the plants cant wiggle or lean to much? is it stretchy or i mean like does it hold its strength with a plant leaning on it for support? ill look into that stuff for sure the next time im out shopping :) Thanks for the tip

I've always wanted to try a scrog, maybe I should attempt a scrog ;) that'd be fun. this is most likely the last time I grow plants with this kind of spacing. I'm going to be doing SOG in this room and staggered for perpetual either once a month or 2 time a month harvesting half a lights worth every harvest (4 posts filled with 8-10 plants each). im not sure yet, we'll see how my next batch of clones come out (which i haven't started yet)

just thinking aloud, thanks for listening ;)
