Well, kids don't go trick or treating in A town anymore I guess. Hope the juveniles take everything but the pumpkins because I want to make some pumpkin pie

Living out in the country we don’t get many trick or treaters. I put a bowl of candy out on the street with a “take three” sign. Unfortunately my house has no door on the street side, so they’d have to come through two gates and up the stairs to the second floor. Dogs wouldn’t like that!!!-

We haven't had Trick or Treaters in a dozen years and that was a neighbor's grandkids. Sad. As a teen I'd always dress as Dracula and stand perfectly still on the end of the porch near the door and scare the hell out of those kids. All in fun of course🤣

None here either! I used to hand out full-size Snickers bars! That would light their eyes up!

I never had any trick or treaters when i lived in the country. Drove my daughter into town and we have parades and businesses who setup treat stands for the little gooblens an gouls so they don't need to go door to door. It's a great time lots of artsy craft booths, music and fun. Just a few hrs worth dusk to 8pm. I have nearly a full bowl of candy and only had 6 door knockers LOL. I'll fill baggies and give it to the few youngins on my street. Thank mother nature we did'nt have any rain it was a beautiful evening for Halloween.

I used to have blast when the kids were little taking them out, I’d dress up too. One year when my daughter was about 5 she went as Dorothy from the wizard of Oz, I rented a full blown lion costume, fur, head to toe! Later when the kids got older I went “Trick or Drink”. Got hammered!
Right now I’m sitting in the marsh, in the tule fog duck hunting, seeing absolutely nothing! Even the dog is sleeping.

That's part of the fun of hunting🤣 I'd love to get back into duck, quail and rabbit hunting but it's difficult when my back acts up to traverse the hills and boulders I use to hop up on. Nothing like fresh game on the dinner table😍

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten any duck! Probably gonna get a couple of turkeys come November 8!

We were out at Henshaw Lake a few years ago (no hunting allowed of course) and there were several groups of turkeys making a racket. All I could think about was hunting again but I've rarely seen them like this in the actual wild. I bet the people that live and work there feed them, I should would😉

I’ve hunted this area for 55 years. I’m Lucky, I live on a slough, and have my own pier/dock, I’m 15 minutes from 15,000 acres of marsh that’s a refuge. My grandfather used to hunt this area when he was a kid in the teens and 20’s. Here’s a picture of him in front of his “ark” and with a bunch of ducks, in 1917!

Love them old duck hunting pics. No camo, bunch of shells in your pockets. Used to wear an old army coat. For geese we hunted out of pits. Sea ducks in a boat out in the big bays. Puddle ducks, beach blinds. Used to be tons of pheasant, none any more.

Back then outboard motors were rare, and unreliable, most guys rowed. My grandfather said if they motored out, they usually rowed back! Back then the motors didn’t have pull ropes, there was a spool on the flywheel and you spun the flywheel, if the engine kicked back it would tear up your thumb!
I haven’t seen a wild pheasant in years!
