Yeah it's risky when the robot don't like it lol:
ANT COLONIES THAT HELP CANNABIS (kinda)
1. Native soil ants (common black pavement ants, small field ants)
These little workhorses:
- Aerate soil by tunneling
- Improve drainage
- Break down organic matter
- “Farm” aphids sometimes, but not always
If your grow is outdoors and you see
small, boring ants, they’re usually neutral-to-beneficial. They’re like quiet Amish neighbors—won’t bother you unless you give them a reason.
2. Harvester ants (in low density)
These guys move a
lot of soil and can help break up compacted zones.
But… they can also strip seeds and chew small seedlings. So unless you’re growing trees, not sprouts, they’re more of a chaotic good.
3. Some tropical leafcutters (in theory only)
You won’t have these in upstate NY thankfully. But note:
Leafcutters don’t eat your plant—
They’re farming fungus.
And they’re absurdly efficient at turning leaf matter into soil fertility.
Super useful in an ecosystem.
Super inconvenient when they decide your cannabis leaves are the perfect substrate.
Thank you AI overlords, I won't.
