I was thinking of some waterproof electric blankets for warmer roots on cold nights. It's not THAT cold in So Cal, but cold enough to affect their growth.

Mate, I mainly grow over winter outside for that exact reason. So many bugs here in summer. Our winter isn't exactly cold (9-20c) but summer is still way worse with pests.

Luckily here the ground doesn't get too cold overnight though. I'm generally blessed to be in a location where year round growing is easy.
