Mate, I mainly grow over winter outside for that exact reason. So many bugs here in summer. Our winter isn't exactly cold (9-20c) but summer is still way worse with pests.Random thought about outdoor winter growing. There is a major downside with the cold roots affecting growth rate and density, but there are definitely some plus sides too. Less bugs, lower temps not burning off your terps, and better side lighting hitting your lowers with the sun in the Southern sky. I was thinking of some waterproof electric blankets for warmer roots on cold nights. It's not THAT cold in So Cal, but cold enough to affect their growth.
Luckily here the ground doesn't get too cold overnight though. I'm generally blessed to be in a location where year round growing is easy.
