I'm using a 33 gallon garbage bag with a bungie strap. I have like 3 or 4 more of the original covers but I cant find them.

Never weighed my last run or the one before. I should keep track. Back this time with 2 Super Silver Haze and an Original Glue. I like old school flavors. Both strains I got from Nirvana. Quick shipping for over seas. A little bummed that they dont offer regular seeds anymore. They say there is no interest in them. I beg to differ.

Popped them in rockwool cubes on a heat mat. The second a root popped out they went into solo cups for a week under my Atrium Hydra at 26 watts.

I've had a fresh Earthbox made with HP Promix, Need seed meal, crab meal, Kelp meal ,Seabird guano, langbeinite, my own castings with worms, and BuildaSoil mineral mix. I used Kashi on the top and let it sit for a month or so. The kashi caused the saprophytic fungus to devour the meals and bloom out nicely.

Some of the kashi that didnt get eaten by the water tube there will become worm food. I didnt use mustard seed this box even though I used my own vermi compost.

Right behind ya with one of them Old School flavors, we dropped them yesterday. Where do you get your kashi from? Tempted to try that again.

Miosture levels are good in all 3 Earthboxes and three seedlings are tucked in and happy. I have an Original Glue in a box with my Girl crush cutting. I only have room for 3 Earthboxes but I have 4 plants. The Glue is a light feeder and so is the Girl Crush. I'm not too concerned about them starving but I am concerned about root room. More than likely I'm culling the Girl Crush after my newest (4th Generation) cuttings root.

The other two Earthboxes each have a Super Silver Haze in them. They are aggressive feeders and more than likely will need 2 top dresses each. They also take 84 days to flower.

Starting week 2 of veg. The Glue is a full set of leaves ahead of both SSH.

Temps have remained steady in the low to mid 70's and the VPD has hovered around 1.1. I gave them all some recharge at 1/2 strength because I didnt want to overpower the fungal networks just yet.

I am curious also! I just fired up my Earthboxes this week - they haven't been bottom watered yet but probably next week. I was originally just gonna use a funnel but I see a mess brewing. On an organic note, I just grabbed my red wigglers 'kinda' locally - on the western side of the continental divide - from Utah Worm Co - @Week4Bytch because I know we are desert guys in similar proximity if you are looking for more. Really good personal service. (no affiliation)

You can get a bag of castings with worm cocoons, They hatch when conditions are right (temp, moisture, presence of organic material/microbes). As a bonus, they often contain nemotoads.

How do prevent tearing apart the worms when you have to scratch the top layer of soil?

Mix the top dressing with some soil (and maybe compost/EWC) before dropping it, just lay it on top, water it a little to pat it down just from the water weight. The roots will grow right through it quick.

For example, maybe two or three party cups of soil in an empty bucket, mix in the top dressing and stir that around good with half cup of compost or earthworm castings, then after mixing it good, lay it top soil.

There you go showing your blonde roots again or maybe me? I am talking about the top layer that gets crusty in soil grows. Captain 🤡 recommends soil growers scratch the top layer of the soil. In my experience it definitely helps the soil and prevents the top crust that creates uneven soil moisture. Me dragging a fork across the soil kills my worms.

Mulch layer will keep the top soil moist so it doesn't crust up. The earthboxes with the plastic cover keeps the top soil moist, like a mulch layer would. But if your not into mulch layers, scraping a few worms won't kill them (that I've noticed). They don't really come to the surface that much with no cover anyways. Maybe only after a watering because they can't breathe that good. With that mulch layer in place you'll get more surface traffic from the worms who will naturally scrape the surface for you.

My tarded soil for my tarded plant stays too wet. I added too much peat on that. I am in pots, I was just asking how to avoid mashed worms scratching the soil. 😁

Yeah I don't dig even a little in the soil. We spend so long trying to build a fungal layer that we dont want to disturb it. Lightly covering it with castings/meal mix wont bother it in the least. I have been starting to add a thin layer of Timothy hay on top of mine after amending. Extra carbon only helps.
