whats up guys....

just decided i'd log this little run, as i am a little new to this (little over 2 years) and am always up for the tips and all from the big guys, small guys, hell, if you have an opinion i'll more than welcome it.

anyhoo, just got a pack of KO kush F3 from sannie the other day... decided to pop all 10.

used paper towel into rapid rooter plugs, now in 3" pots with FFOF soil.

nutrients im using are calmag, FF grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. i have gognats in case of any jerks wanting to try and cop my shit, and am in the process of decided if i want to go with anything more this time.

i also popped 3 "jenna" haze (my buddy got a shitty herm cut of super lemon haze, and it pollinated his pre 98 cut and his bullrider). he gave me seeds from both, i ran the bullrider last time, ended up being some of the best smoke ive actually had (hermed up real nice though, was a bitch to tackle)

and now these three are the bubba ones. they are all looking like some SLH phenos, but none the less if its half as dank as that other stuff i'll happily castrate some bitches.

i have a 2x4x5 grow tent in my closet with a home made carbon scrubber, 4" inline fan (i mean come on its 40 sq' hahaha)

im probably going to be using t5s for this run, with a ScroG or something. havent really decided, but i have a 2' 6 bulb and a 2' ptek lamp, and shit i mean thats like 22000 lumens of side lighting right there, a 4' 6bulb or something would sufficiently get the canopy of the tent, and its in a sealed walk in closet, with air conditioning in the bathroom its connected to.....

i'll post pictures once the server lets me, the host site is taking its sweet ass time, figure id get this approve first.

thanks man! yeah i mean for the price, the quality (as far as i've seen) and shipping service, damn, im stoked i went with these.

i did just send in the payment on the sour aliens and alien og i just won, so those're goin right in the fridge, and i guess i'll just flip a coin on what i'll run next haha.

i'll update this often, i work in front of thcfarmer if you know what i mean hahaha.

so a little time has passed, not too much.

these guys are going to be some bushes. they just want to bush out. and im down with that.

so i went ahead and got a 4' 6 bulb t5. im going to use this and my 2' ptek and 2' 6 bulb ers as side lighting. im just lookin to get about a qp, as that'll last me til the next one, so we'll see.

so i plan on just veggin these out and around july 9th is when i have to flip to flower, so i plan on FIMing and supercropping the hell out of these, then flowering all twelve in the closet, then when sex is shown i will have 8 spots under lights. so until then i might update once more on how these go.

does anyone know about these KO kushes? i heard long veg times and they dont stretch that much in flower...

so i have 3 diff phenos of the KO. a tall, and medium bush, and a short squat bush with pink hued growth. i think that one will be the one i clone, hopefully she is a she!

pictures.

the jenna haze's are mixed in there...

so my 4' t5 got here this morning.

along with that, i also got grow bulbs for my other t 5.

so now im just dialin this place in.

OH

killed the super super stretchy guy. realized it was going to be like the stretchy one i just harvested, as amazing as it is i dont have room, have to focus on the KO's.

so i have a 4' 6 bulber on top, a 2' 6bulber on the front side and a 2' ptek lamp on the back side. enough light for 8 of these guys??? i'll cull them to that when i switch for flowering, take cuts from all, then whatever is male will get replaced with cuts, get some makeshift perpetual goin until i establish some dank female cut.... if possible, but i do have about 6 GOOD GOOD looking bubba/kush dom phenos of this ko. so out of the females i'll choose 2 to mother probably, and keep the one thats best in terms of production, nugs...

so i have 11 left, watered today, one of the KO's flipped out with the veg nutes (2nd feeding ever, 1/2 strength) and went apeshit and all the leaves are doing like double circles and everything. but oh well wasnt even a good one in my opinion anyways haha. i'll see what she does give her a lil flush. all the others perked right up and loved it though so i dont know kinda weird.

but yeah, 11, and i topped 5. one of each pheno, and a jenna haze. i just wanted to test for the clones what does what with what phenos and stuff. i want to just save as much room as possible so i can get these alien ogs going and hopefully find a cut after this...

i'll update pics when new growth on the FIMs...

so i supercropped the main stem on these guys. im still fairly familiar to the technique, but i understand it.

those bitches are already perked right back up facin the sky. i really want to try the tie upside down technique but i dont really have enough time in veg, have about two more weeks before i have to flip for flowering. i guess i dont really have to, ive just had so much down time this year i really want to get one more run down before 2011

just 2 days growth look at that. the front two are the two problem children. the one 2nd to right in front is the nute spaz that flips if you give it anything, and the one on the left of that one seems to have some build up or something goin on, but nothing out of the ordinary so you bitches behave or i'll cull ya!

So how long of veg we talkin here??

I'm at like 4 weeks with my previous plan, but I'm more than willing to go longer if the payout is that good.

And they are going to be a little everywhere I mean I'm not doing a scrog just using pipe cleaners to tie down that's my steez

Appreciate it fellas. Ch... Where would I be without you all??

howdy, farmer beachbummed.

i hope my attempt at a reply finds you in good health and spirit?

i can get a lil long winded in my old age so, please, bear with me. and ask away if i can help further.....:::::::::::

KO Kush, basically, is a pole plant. there really isnt much side branching. i'm not really sure where you're trying to go with the tie downs.
this strain likes to grow a strong and sturdy center meristem (or main stem.) unless this thing is topped (more on that later) theres no point in tying them down....for stretch is very minimal.
instead, a lil trick could be to tip the pots sideways.

for illustrative purposes:

extend your hands out in front of you....extending your fingers out wide. now, turn your hands inward, and interlock your fingers. now, picture this as your canopy of plants as you look down on them; with each finger representing a main cola of KO Kush.....
i cant tell you how many times ive used this cheat with grand results. i like it because its so simple.

about topping:
i cant speak from experience with topping the KO, because, straight up, ive never saw a need to do so. imo, one would buy the KO when expecting a pole plant, so, to me, topping it wouldn't be my first course of action.
(that being said, theres no reason the method cant be successful. i dont recall sannie saying, either way, if topping helps or hinders the KO.) Farmer Bon, or some of the other sannie fans out there might be able to share experience with topping the KO, but, i cannot.

as far as veg times:
ive vegged em 30 days from seed and flipped em.
3 gal pots..and 5 gal pots on 1st run.
long story short i felt i could do better.
and with a 45 day veg (at least, prolly 47) i was proven right.
i would say the added 15 day veg added as much as 30% more dry yield; with same regime (lights/nutes/etc)
[i start in solo cups under natural sunlight, or 600W MH...until a good, solid, healthy root mass is present. then i transplant into their ending pots if they are under 8 gal. i find when a seedling has a good, solid root mass to work into its new home with, the better it performs. and the less shock and impedance it has to deal with using too many transplants. just ta give ya an idea on what i do.]

a lil bit of a prolonged vegetative period is the key to success with sannies KO Kush. Trust me, your patience will be rewarded.

hope that helped.?
if not hit me back.

When you say not to top it do you mean the seedlings? As in it's not a good plant to take cuts/clones from? I was planning on keeping cuttings of the best female(s) when I grow my pack out.

No just like as in the training technique,

I really appreciate it hubcap. I totally understand.

So I'm pushing the total time from seed into flower to 7 weeks, Being 4 on the 28th.

So half of them are topped, fortunately (serious sigh of relief) I didn't top my two favorite ones, the two very bush short colored ones. The topped ones I'm sure will still be nice.

I checked them out today and they have very nice root growth. I'm transplanting them into the 3 gal pots this weekend and I'm turning on the 4' over them They have bloom bulbs, And when I switch to flower I'll add on the side lighting.

I'll take some pics of transplanting soon. Once again. Mad respect for the help y'all.

i grew KO kush a couple runs ago. it was great smoke but not much of a yeild so yeah veg as lang as you can if you want a good yeild. i topped all of mine and they turned out still good, but i def know what hubcap is saying that it is a main stem plant as she is shorter and thick when you top her. she gets real hearty. i topped right before i flipped to flower. other than that i took her at 8 weeks, although she looked ready at 7. good luck and thanks for sharing yo

For sure. I want to say it was your thread that I saw they were topped...

Would you recommend it? I mean haha what's done is done, and I don't plan on topping the other two... Maybe I'll just take two side by side and see...

Thanks y'all. Stoked I have opinions from farmers I look up to

Happy Saturday y'all.

yeah man, whats done is done....
and its not like its a crying shame to hafta smoke a bunch of good pot in the learning process, right?
im, actaully, interested in how these perform with a toppin,' so, by all means, post pics of the progress. maybe open a thread in sannies forum. youll get a bit more specialized help in there, i bet. ;)

im, also, glad to see some of the KO growers that have topped this one have stopped in to offer their exp as well. very cool.

yeah, farmer Redskywalker...i was referring to training techniques, not taking clones. i would never recommend against taking cuts.
;)

feel free, if theres anything else on your mind.

For sure. I'll do a little update here tomorrow or Monday when I transplant. I think I'll start in sannies once I get them under the other light, and in their permanent homes.

For sure. Good to know I have some people there for a hand. Good looking out mang!
