Hey whatsup everybody?? My boy FINALLY came through with the ISS clones, and I put them in the bins last night. Both cuttings were showing a little nute burn on their fan leaves (which were trimmed)...wondering if this will be an issue? Also, calyxs are on the clones which makes me think they were cloned in flower.

Each clone is in an 8 gallon rubbermaid, with about 5 gallons of water. I'm using tap water (which has an initial ppm of 190-200).

Nutes

Gh Series (Grow, Bloom, Hardwater Micro)
Floralicious
Diamond Nectar

Light
250w HPS XL Hood

Growing in about 25 sq ft space

Planning on running on a Scrog on these to maximize yield. I am NOT in an MMJ state, so these clones come at a premium and I hope this yellowing won't be an issue. My ppm is 350 right now (remember the initial is 200). PH is 5.7 in one res, 5.8 in the other.

Pics soon!!!!:icon_animal26::icon_animal26:

Sounds like you're doing everything pretty right.

You SHOULD probably save some coin for flowertime so you can give em more than the 250W. Like I mentioned in the other thread..I can show you an ebay seller with 400s that come with cooltube, reflector, yoyos, timer, hps AND mh bulbs and digital ballast for under $150.

Either way, take a look at some output charts of different wattage hps bulbs. Not sure about 250s but, for example (please don't take my #s to the bank..I'm pulling these out of my head but you'll get the picture). Actually..I just googled it. Didn't see the output of a 250 but:
400 watts for a 50,000 lumen hps (up to 55,000)
600 watts for an 90,000 lumen hps (up to 95,000)
1000 watts for a 130,000 lumen hps bulb (up to 150000)

So as you can see...a 600 has almost twice the output as a 400. I'd imagine that the 400 is a lot more than a 250.
So for example...a 1000W uses 2 and a half times the power but produces up to 3 times the lumens. That's money.

Oh...keep your eyes on kijiji. There are ALWAYS very cheap lights and ballasts for sale. AND...don't necessarily shy away from mag or coil ballasts. they're heavier and not quite as efficient as electronic or digital but they work PROPERLY with the bulbs that are available (digis do not) and will last forever and increase the life of the bulbs compared to the digitals.

You can probably get 400s on kijiji for under 50 bucks all day.

Keep a VERY close eye on your roots. At the first sign of discoloration you need to fix it. If you can afford it, get a first aid kit that includes some SM90 or DMZone, a jar of Great White or other beneficial bacterium and fungii, maybe some physan20 and some hydrogen peroxide for cleaning.

Btw...my nearest growstore is 2 hours away. Make a LIST!!! lol.

Hey thanks bro. The 250 is something like 18000 lumens

Clones are still showing burn from the original grower...kind of bothers me but hopefully they recover and start bumpin :harvest:

When should I do my first res change?

Any thoughts on the yellowing? My PPM is low (200). PH is 5.9 in each res

bro, change that water from tap to ro,,aka rainwater..i also wouldnt go past 300 ppms for a bit, other thanthat looks good to me,,your defently gonna need at least a 400 or 600 watt light to get the best results..just my 2 cents

Hey thanks for the input. I just installed a 250w HPS....hopefully that will crank things up a bit. I bought a 400 CFM inline fan, so I can upgrade to a 4/600 if I feel like it. My only constraint is fresh air...

Tap water can be bad the best water to use is reverse osmosis the reason i don't use tap water is cause it carries tons of things one being salt which CAN root lock your plant. I have a clone that i cloned myself and i put together and diy bucket and put her in there she is bout 3 weeks old and the first night put it in there at 500ppms 5.8 ph and the plant looks great if ur plant has roots then nute it. your plant looks like it can handle it.. how many weeks is she?

The clones are 1 week old...both have a few roots popping out of net pot

ph has been difficult today, not sure why...keeps climbing into the 6.1-6.3 range

Here they are @ 10 days since transplant...GH Series with Floralicious Plus, PPMs are 440 and 450. I've been dropping the pH to 5.5 and letting it float back up to 6...

It's hard to see with the HPS on, but some of the leaves are curling. I think it may be a low humidity issue? No real discoloration...1 or 2 leaves have green veins with slight outside yellowing, but that was an issue with them when I originally received the clones. New growth has sort of burned tips, but that also was an issue when I received the clones...

I bought an 18 gallon tote to put the 2 plants into. The smaller plant (which has better roots), has a 1 inch brown spot on its longest root. Could this be stain from the floralicious plus? The shit is potent, and I only put it 1 ml into 4.5 gallons. The other plant has all icy roots...

I'm wondering if this is 2 different cuts. One has long sativa leaves, the other is more indica...

i may have missed it but, how many plants do you have?

everything looks good. i'd defintely go ahead and get a 400w light. you can use both and really benefit from it or you can use the 400w for flowering and the 250w for veg and have a perpetual grow. since you said those clones were pricey wait til they get a bit bigger and take some clones from them and keep the cycle going.

if you arent in an mmj state make sure you take precautions to not get caught. i'd definitely get a carbon filter. i think that's the first thing people pick up on is the smell.

Hi. 2 plants. I totally understand the benefits of a 4 or 600w HPS...but this is more of an experiment than "i need x amount of crop". I want to utilize scrog and try to maximize yield off a 250. I'm gonna get an undercurrent run going pretty soon...then we can talk about big lights :character0029::character0029:
