Went in and pulled the plant that I took out of soil at was still struggling after 3 weeks and I did not want to take a chance on compromising the other 7 plants. So took it out and noticed the water was about 1 1/2 over the net pots so lowered it to just under and set the float so it should wind up at 2 inches below the pot is that about right?
I had my water level in veg set about 1" above the bottom of the net pot and 1 to 2" below the bottom of the net pot in bloom... I'm using the 5" net pots and 8 gal buckets. It seems to be working well and I'll prob lower the water level another inch in the last trimester of bloom... :thinking

Well looks like I might have an issue so I posted a new thread but here are the ladies before I flip to Flower. I noticed one looked a little sick so looked at the roots and this is what I saw, should I be worried? The empty hole is where the the soil plant was and it was not doing well so pulled it. I will flip to flower in a day or so of untill I get an answer. Wondering if I should hit them with H2O2? or would that harm the CannaZyme or Reisotonic? More pics in the next post

Thanks guys

Eh... I just read your other thread and I'm sticking with my post above on the water line levels between veg and bloom. I'd also run no more than 60 PPM of CalMag at this stage of veg... Good luck bud! :cool

Grab onto a small amount of the brown roots and ever so gently, give them a slight tug.
Rotten roots will just fall off. Good roots will make a little snap. Is there any slime on them? It seems in cali, there is a bacterial bloom going on, bad for both plants and people.

Sounds good Shady, I'm glad that the brown is not root root, I was shitting my pants as we can't get Phylsan 20 here or any thing like that. But as UCMENOW pointed out the browning of the root was just because I dropped the water, learn something new all the time. Thanks for the help

Right on bro! I hope that those girls make a quick comeback for you... Roots Excelurator and AquaShield FTW! :rock

i'v done aero before, and tho it's not dwc tho plants looks like they have root rot for sure man (and by the tell tale signs of how the plants look, that's you're roots dying man...) i would re fill you're res with just water and h202 (i had 29% @ 3ml per gal) run for 24 hours then empty, refill nutes ect. (zone seems to be the best for chemical type protection) you will lose all you're plants to root rot, all the buckets are connected. it's a breading ground in there (altho the low temps slow breeding down, but theres so much root mass it's not hard for them to live)

Well not sure what to do so I hit them with H2o2 and raised the water level a bit, upped the food to 400 as I am flipping tomorrow. I turned 2 lights out and put another humidifier in there running full out. Roots smell nice and are not slimy and don't brake easy. I got my microscope here now so will have a look. Will post pics shortly. Hummmmmmm

Micro Photos

Well I had a look at the roots and this is what I saw with one of my microscopes. Comments?

I think this is the first time I ever seen macro type shots of roots, thats crazy...

and those second macros:sign0005:

what do the plants look like today, still droopy?

The plants are responding to something I did and are coming back, I am not sure if the sick plant will make it or not. So looks like my punishment for screwing up I lose another plant. Darn noob mistakes, never had a plant do that to me in my whole life. Anyway I am taking pics every hour or so to track the progress, yes it is that noticeable in one hour. So I will post them at some point.

What I did was took some advice from the guys and mulled it over and did this.

Drained 1/2 the juice and mixed in some nutrients to boost it up to 490ppm in prep for flower and added 425 ml H2O2 than filled it back up to the net pot. I shut 2 lights off and put another humidifier in the room and set the fan heat control to 83 degrees. There back....

Lower your light intensity.. do NOT run Physan 20 your roots look fine they are just locked out.. just fresh ph's water and lower lights intensity for a couple days to see if they come back, do not fuck with them too much or your going to shock the shit out of them rinsing and all that h2o2 doesnt do anything because your roots look good man. Make sure they are getting plenty of o2 from the airstones and leave them alone for a bit with your humidity up.. check back in two days.. If no bounce back then yank em.. its just the way shit goes.. honestly something is either going to rock in the uc or it wont.. just give it time and most of all DONT keep adding and subtracting and doing all kinds of shit to them or they are gonna get pist.. I been through EXACTLY what you have.. FRESH PH WATER .. 2 days! Less light.

I took the pics with my USB microscope at a mag of about 80x, it goes up to 400x and I can take pics or video. I also have a stereo lab microscope.

Jimmyhoffa59 thanks for the advice and moral support.

I am going to post the pics for the recovery it's amazing how fast they are coming back.

stay with the h202 man (if you can get zone you don't have to re-add it back as often, but both work), glad they are coming back for you.

Woodsman, GREAT microscopy photos! Pink trichome heads should be lots of fun for you, and I'm very glad your girls are coming back and your problem was so quickly and easily resolved.

Woodsman,
check the air stone in that tub. Make sure that it has the same output as the others. I have seen a tub that had less air start going south.

I like the microscope photos. I bought one of those USB microscopes as well. I think that it is a Celestron. Under $50, and it is great for throwing up a problem or a victory on the big screen. I thought it was worth it's weight in gold, when I was looking at a few samples of a local dispensary's nugs, to find out that they are running everything they sell through keif boxes before they sell it. Naughty, naughty. I tell friends to beware of those guys.

Anyhow, good luck with the plant recovery, and nice grow otherwise.

Well the drama is over and I am wiser. Total cost of my fubar 1 plant. Thank's for all the people that tried to help out.

Lesson learned

1) brown color on the roots does not mean root rot, it was because I lowered the water in the buckets.

2) when the tops of your plants are falling over and very limp check humility and heat from lights.

3) Pay attention to the little stuff.

So,
were the roots on the plant in question not in the solution deep enough after lowering the level?
Did you have a hot spot on that plant? Did you use a temp gun?
I agree about the little stuff. The best way for me is to spend as much time with the plants as possible, so you are familiar with all of the subtleties that change in them.
