I've noticed recently that when my grow tent has plants in it, it runs cooler. Moreover, the more plants I add the cooler it runs (within reason). It's pretty significant too. Like a difference of 10 degrees between an empty tent and the tent at full bloom. A half full tent brought the temps down about 4 degrees. It's not plants shading the sensor either. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a known phenomenon?

I haven't noticed that much of a temp difference, will start watching. What I do notice is the humidity, A full tent will cause the r/h to rise considerably. I run the fans 24/7 to keep this in check. You should be just about done outwest...harvested my tangerine haze on friday, will let the domina go another week.

Yessir. Have some stank curing up nicely as I type this. Gonna be a great indoor season!

I think its from the energy being absorbed rather than being reflected off the surfaces of the tent

That seems like the most logical answer to me, but when I thought about it I don't think plants absorb heat. Lamps release energy in the form of heat and light, but its only the light that gets absorbed by the leaves, correct?? IDK maybe I'm wrong, hopefully someone more knowledgeable in science can enlighten me

I can attest to this, with a room with all lights on and only half of it fiiled with plants I've seen temps go down when I plant the other half of the room prob from the lack of light bouncing off the floor and walls...

Would also think the type of lights, vented or not, and circulation would make a difference as well.

well, non air cooled, 24/7 airflow on same speed. Nothing was changed after planting the other half of the room and the room was half plant empty for over a week and the day after planting the other plants the temp went down by several degrees and stayed consistent.

my open air cmh 330 seems cooler with plants all over the veg tent

It seems like Baba and NaturalTherapy are thinking along the same lines and it kind of makes sense. The plants are using the light energy, the dead plastic reflective surfaces of the tent are not, at all. So maybe by 'consuming' the light some of the heat is absorbed and digested along with it? Is it like a mini reverse greenhouse effect in my tent?

Thanks to all who chimed in.

Yeah I think there probably right about the light being absorbed which also reduces some of the heat, its the only way it makes sense.

Is it sealed or vented if its vented ?

Thats exactly what i was thinking.

If his tent is like mine there is a vent in every corner. To many in fact. I use one for intake and one for exhaust and two are closed off. Love my tent (s).

Took the words right out of my mouth. Intake through the bottom, exhaust through the top. Liquor in the front, poker in the back. I've got cabling running through some of my vents. Guess I'll just have to keep the tent full at all times. I need another tent.
