I am an ex-(tie wearing)professional engineer and grower, currently, (tie-dye wearing, allowing and source aligned) businessman and soon to be grower once more. I used to grow (2010-2013) in order to make the oil for pro bono treatment of cancer and diabetes patients and one epileptic dog, as well as for own consumption. Recently left the sunny South Africa, or Mzanzi as we call it back home, total newbie in the wild West, but having an absolute ball!!! Tonight I have placed my first seeds in the water in a glass in the hotel. Following this, I then stumbled upon this forum whilst researching the latest tech. Used to grow in converted apex roof (5m x 12m), Vegetative Room: (3m x 4m) 4 x 400Watt Metal Halide (Magnetic Ballast!! ;-), 180W Compact Fluorescent for clones and seedlings (on heating pad). Flowering Room: (9m x 4m) 8 x 400Watt HPS extraction into the back of the masonry chimney from downstairs fireplace. Inlet and access through my bedroom ceiling. All of this on a farm high up in the mountains of Mpumalanga, South Africa. My reason for joining this forum is to learn and safely rejoice with other growers around the world, especially the lucky ones where legalisation or decriminalisation has set them free. Following a breach in security in October 2012, I had to evacuate the farm in 12 hours and hit the road with +- 30 x 1 month old plants, 150 Seedlings and clones and leave all the ladies who were flowering in the bush to nature's many beautiful creatures around at the time (Even the Black Mamba, not too far from the yard) It was amazing.
