Today is the 15th anniversary of the premiere of the Coen brother's film "The Big Lebowski" in 1998. Light one up for "The Dude" you all. According to a Zen Professor, The Big Lebowski was/is full of koans, or Zen stories that only make sense if one accepts that life and reality are different from one's own opinion of them. Lebowski-isms like "The Dude abides," "The Dude is not in," "Donny, you're out of your element," and "It really tied the room together" can all function as Zen koans according to a California Professor of Zen named Glassman. Glassman wrote a book about it, and then got Jeff Bridges to write a forward for the book after reading it.
So, light one up for the Dude and Dude-ism.
