Ok, I have 10 gallon pots with dirt from my local nursery. Its Sunshine brand potting mix, (Ingredients canadian sphagnum peat moss, coarse perlite, starter nutrient charge, dolomitic limestone and long-lasting wetting agent) has a mix of slow release and starter fertilizer in it. Trust me I will never use it again but for now its too late, its what I have. I have 14 plants in these 10 gallon pot. I thought it was my imagination but the ones receiving more water (I keep a good log of watering schedules) are doing the worst. I am convinced these plants are burned. The problem is the more I flush, it seems the more fertilizer is released and the problem gets worse. Again the plants doing perfect are the ones I watered every 7 or 8 days, they are really dry before I water them. Then they get 1 gallon of RO water PH 7. This plant in the picture is the worst one. As an experiment I added 1 ml of DynaBloom to the last gallon of water and it for sure got worse. So, I put the container in the tub and flushed with 20 gallons of RO water. These pics are right after the flush. It seems the more I flush the more fertilizer is released and the problem gets worse not better. This is the second time I flushed this plant. The first time though was only 5 gallon of water. I am hoping this latest flush with 20 gallons sheds some light on the real problem and it shows signs of improvement. Any ideas or comments are more than welcome.

Let me add more info about why I flushed it in the first place about 2 weeks ago with 5 gallons. The plant was showing signs as above but not as severe. I had just water with 1.5 gallons and there was a pretty good bit of runoff. So I thought this is a great time to check the runoff. The ph was and astounding 4.4 (meter was calibrated and accurate) and a whopping 3500 ppm. That's right, 3500 ppm. How the plant even survived is a mystery to me. That is what prompted the original 5 gallon flush. After the flush there was not a dramatic change but it for sure did not get any worse. I watered again a few days later and the run off was ph 5.5 and about 700 ppm. I continued to water every other day or so which I am now thinking is way too often with 10 gallons of dirt. Even though the top may be dry the bottom is still very wet. Anyway the symptoms as shown in the pics appeared again in force which prompted the decision to flush again except this time using 20 gallons.

It doesnt look like you are too far from harvest. Why not just water at a regular rate and let your time release ferts do their thing? Some yellowing seems to be the norm with alot of flowering plants, later in cycle. The plant really looks quite healthy. As long as there is no necrosis of the bud structure, is there really even a problem?

It looks like a friend of mines plants a few years back..he ran out of money and bought the MG with slow release. Definitely locks them out..maybe it throws the PH out of whack. Have you tried testing a run off slurry yet?

missed the part where you tested run off..3500 ppm..holy shit..lol.

might help if you pull the plant out and toss some fresh soil under the rootball...not much else to do but ride it out I guess..and toy with higher ph.

This counts as soil-less right?

Even at 5.5 everything should be pretty sweet.

(EDIT) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE would I ever transplant a plant in full bloom. But thats just, like, my opinion dude.

i wouldnt flush any more than you have. Sunshine brand withholds alot of water, i know becuase ive been using for years. I actually dont flush unless needed because of how much water retention it has. you might be drowning your roots... your in an enriched soil with time release ferts therefore it should be low maintenance only needing a couple boosters during its flowering cycle if needed. Im not a big fan of strict pH levels, but i would get your measurement closer to 6.5-6.3 instead of 7.

Fans leaves do tend to die off during mid-late flower, i see it as the change in energy the plant makes to produce buds. but the big ones up top shouldnt be like yours and i also see some little ones in there that have yellowing tips. In my opinion i would use compost teas once a week. easiest and one of the cheapest tricks to keep a plant looking healthy throughout its life cycle. If you dont want to go that route, Sea Green and Rootamentary (same company - Beneficial Biologics) have been working for me when i see some deformities. i use them in my teas and get outstanding results but u can simply mix with water. this will also make ur foliage a bit darker green, which ur plant as a whole looks a little light green. whatever you choose, best of luck. hope my 2 cents was worth a nickel of ur time. Z

They are 3 weeks and 2 days into bloom, still have at least 5 weeks left. Some of the other plants not shown are thick lush green like straight from the rain forest. This plant and 2 or 3 others have this look. And yea the runoff was initially 3500 and the PH was 4.4, talk about hot. That is why I initially flushed with 5 gallons 2 weeks ago. We will wait and see what this last flush of 20 gallons, PH 7 does.

which sunshine mix is it exactly? I know sunshine has a nursery brand called sun gro..does it have NPK numbers?

So then the question becomes: "Are these the exception, or the example?" If this is the minority of your plants then its not a deal, if its the majority then IMO its still not a deal. 11 leaves effected is what I count on your worst plant. I never even consider anything a problem unless it effects 10 percent of the total plant matter. Decimation or I ignore it. In flower I'm even less concerned with total plant matter, more so focused on the buds themselves.

I think watching closely is your best mode of action.

Sunshine Mix LA4 and yes its Sun Gro. I never really looked that close at all the names and numbers on the bag before. After checking some websites my local nursery sells this stuff cheap. The 2.8Ft bag for $18 out the door. If I could just learn to use this stuff reliably then I would be happy and good to go. Thanks Natural.
