According to Dale Gavlak, an Associated Press reporter w/ 20 years experience in the Middle East, the chemical weapons that killed almost 1500 civilians were triggered by the rebels themselves (you know...the guys we're supporting). Even further compelling is not only their admission to it, but the fact that the chemical weapons were supplied by the Saudis...you know...our allies.
Of course, everybody is completely ignoring this information because going to war is simply too much fun, right?

In the past few years, there have been offshore discoveries of gas and possibly oil that look set to open up new economic possibilities. In future, they could also redefine strategic relationships.
A
2010 US Geological Survey report estimated that there were 122 trillion cubic feet (TCF) (equivalent to 3455 billion cubic metres) of gas and 1.7bn barrels of oil off the coasts of Israel, the Gaza Strip, Cyprus, Syria and Lebanon.
