This plant is 2 weeks old or so and been looking great. About 2 inches tall.
Grow light is 12 inches away and a 600W MH and dimmed about half.I have been using a spray bottle to keep it moist, but not over watered.

Is this too much heat or fertilizer?

Oh, and this is Tomato plant- getting my feet wet inexpensively with growing process and my grow room.

Thanks! Alex

The problem I see is too much tomato in your lineup.
Is the white on the cotyledon leaves.
If so, I wouldn't worry as cotyledons are intended to get the plant started and give-up early.
Think how much better your pics would be with better seed.

I kind of agree with Dunge, but I like that you're practicing on a sacrificial tomato first. The cotelydons do shrivel up and fall off, though, so yeah, it's normal.

Looks like hot soil, its not only the baby starter leaf but also newer growth.
Alex what is hot soil? is my answer

hey brian,
Yeah, its a miracle grow soil (pictured below)... should I any additional weekly fertilizer for a while?

Please don't try to grow cannabis in that. I mean, you can grow in that, but it does tend to result in a harsh product. I personally don't care for that brand soil because I get splinters from it. There shouldn't be whole pieces of wood in a good soil mix, IMO.

Don't add ferts to the sacrificial tomato yet, either.

What could I use then? You are right about them wood chunks... spot on. :) Are farm has awesome black dirt.. any chance I can just dig up some buckets of that and use?

I'd be willing to try it, but not as is, I think it would need some amending, adjusting and lightening up.

I don't know where you are, but I would look for Gardener & Bloom, because that's what I like and is available locally. I'm not sure what you could find that would be just as good as something like that in a big box store, but if nothing else, Kellogg's or even Sta-Green's organic potting soil are better than Miraclegro's.

time to hit the local store and see what I can find, thanks for the info!

well SeaMaiden, the bad news is they didn't have any of the brands you recommended so I just picked what I thought might be good (see below), however the good news is Twinkies were on closeout for $2 a case. lol.
Do you think this is better than the miracle grow crap?

Yes, and damn it, I'm jealous! I can't find that locally.
