Well it seems to come down to "opportunity cost" which is the only thing I really remember from economics in high school. Paying for someone else to put the parts together. I wasn't trying to say the system sucks, obviously it is pretty damn nice (nod to amber's buds there). I've been looking at different gear lately, window shopping mostly. Hell, 3 years ago I would have been right with most of you guys. . . I was spending so much damn money on my grow it was crazy. Things seem different when you're broke, no job, no grow. Trying to start up again after having to sell every bit of your accumulated 10,000 watts of lighting, fans, dehumidifiers, co2 gear, etc. . . for pennies on the dollar and then you have no funds to start up again. I'll be lucky to throw together a bare bones flood tray in a tent anytime soon.

She's taken, bro- and worse, her boyfriend grows better dank than you do, too. Lol, j/k!
Yeah that just about sums it up.

Yeah that just about sums it up also . For us it was we lost some games and then decided to look at it like a clean pallet. So actually we have some things we don't use around. Maybe would help a farmer down get up again, hit me up. That another thing about my boyfriend he does continue to grow better dank naturally always continuing onward and upward can't keep my hippie down.

You guys are too cool, but I think I have it covered. Piecing things together, it's not impossible. I just reaaaaally need to get a job but i'm kind of screwed on that one. Seems that my desire to get a college degree has hurt my ability to find work. Last job I got fired because the supervisor didn't like that I had a 4 year degree. Had two interviews last week where the hiring manager told me I wouldn't like it because I am a college grad. Fuck me right? I'm going to leave that off my applications, pretend to be an average dumbass like the locals.

Right on papa...It's so tough finding work and then for them to hold it against me that I pursued higher education? Whateva. I like my avatar too. It's andy warhol and edie sedgwick. What a babe.

It always trips me out that Sedgwick is actually Beck's mom...I watch all the Factory stuff every couple of months..my dad is an artist type from that era so it really seems relevant to me when I watch it...those were some crazy ass artist

Beck's mom according to the internet was Bibbe Hansen, also a Warhol factory superstar. Thank goodness, I really like Beck and would feel bad if i was having impure thoughts about his mother!

@fractal

Have you looked at gettogrow's threads? He seems to have found away to get results with his DYI. I think his abilities as a grower and builder exceed those of the average poster on the forum. But man he gets shit done.

There's actually really good deals to be had on gear if you spend some time looking around, and not necessarily all on ebay. For example it took an hour but I found cases of 48 grodan hugo blocks for $115 shipped, instead of $200 and one of those new gavita pro 600's for an obscenely low price. Just gotta be resourceful it's not like how I used to just stroll into the hydro shop and buy whatever I needed without checking prices. I'll check out ghetto's threads though I'm always open to being inspired.

@fractal I've built the majority of my equipment, especially my RDWC systems. I've got some pics of it scattered around the forum, or I can pm you with them. 27 gallon tubs with four 1" bulkhead fittings connected by flexible 1" hose- and my latest trick is a special water manifold that connects to the water pump outlet that does a waterfall in each tub, where it circulates, agitates and aerates the water in each tub site, NO AIRPUMP OR STONES REQUIRED. That's cutting the cost of goin' large!

My best advice would be if your on a tight budget toss the UC idea and crush a cheaper more forgiving medium. Like all of us, your gonna run into unexpected issues mid grow that will require a lot more $$ to handle using a RDWC. I've been in your situation many times before and the UC isn't my go to system/medium to get lifted out of a financial rut. Good luck bro

That sir, is the price of convenience. There's no money selling a system as the same price that you can buy the parts for. They have to profit somewhere.

Amber might be on to something with those outrageously good results too...
