Hey 916 growers in the county, Just got this and havent heard anything on it, BUT if it's being "pushed" under the rug Folks need to step up and have your word heard. Ill be making a few calls in the morning for sure, along with follow up emails.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors will have a public hearing on Tuesday, April 22, to consider a motion to ban indoor cultivation of medical cannabis in the unincorporated areas of the county. The unincorporated areas are those inside the county, but outside the borders of any city. ASA is calling on members and allies to speak up in advance of this hearing and to speak in opposition to the ban on Tuesday morning.

Can you call or email the Supervisors listed below and tell them to vote no on agenda item 64, a ban on indoor medical cannabis cultivation? Use this sample script to frame your comments:

“Hello. I am a medical cannabis patient/supporter in Sacramento County. I am calling to oppose the proposed ban on indoor cultivation of medical cannabis by legal patients and their caregivers. If patients cannot grow their own medical cannabis, they will be forced to do without their doctor-recommended medicine or rely on the dangerous and unregulated illicit market. Research and experience show that sensible regulations for medical cannabis reduce crime and complaints. Please reject the ban and work with patients to find a solution that respects the will of the voters and protects patients and the community.”

Be sure to let the Supervisors or their staff know how the ban will affect you personally.

Find you Sacramento County Supervisor here: http://www.supervisorlookup.saccounty.net/ or call/email all five.

Phil Serna – (916) 874-5485 or [email protected]
Jimmie R. Yee - (916) 874-5481 or [email protected]
Susan Peters - (916) 874-5471 or [email protected]
Roberta MacGlashan - (916) 874-5491 or [email protected]
Don Nottoli - (916) 874-5465 or [email protected]

Join other medical cannabis advocates to testify in opposition to the ban next Tuesday, April 22. Arrive early to sign up to speak in opposition to agenda item number 64. The hearing starts at 9:45 AM at 770 H Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. Please invite other supporters!

Thank you for helping,

Don Duncan

Hopefully our voices will be heard positively,

Well if they are anything like the Butte County Supervisors you may have a fight on your hands, but if you have the people behind you then you can win against the County Supervisors in your area. That`s how it`s going down in Butte County anyway. Good Luck !

Banning INDOOR cultivation?
Facepalm

They're going to have a time of it enforcing and indoor ban because it will take a search warrant to get inside someone`s house. What are the proposed penalties ? The counties cannot impose jail time for an infraction of land use laws and they would never get a Judge to sign off on a home warrant for an infraction anyway. I guess they could still pass an indoor land use law but it wouldn`t have any teeth unless they had a valid reason to enter because of other reasons. I`d follow all state laws 215,420, not steal power and go ahead and grow. Keep it stealth more out of fear of break ins and rippers though.

Honestly, Im getting to the point where I think certain counties put up a new bill like every other month just in hopes SOMEONE will be like fuck it, im done growing or maybe to keep people from moving to Sac or butte just to grow. I considered moving to sac at one point because of the cheap housing and commercial properties but didnt because of crap like this. Worked keeping me away!

made my calls and sent a few emails ;)

There are many benefits to medical cannabis and as a disabled tax paying adult in this great county, this ban would not only affect myself, but thousands of others who have found better results using medical cannabis over the myriad of dangerous pharmaceuticals that are prescribed daily, not counting all of the negative side effects. I appreciate your time and the hard work you do for our states people. Please vote NO on amendment 64 and let’s work together to come up with a better alternative that benefits both the patient and caregivers and still respects our other citizens.

Sincerely,

banning indoor gardening makes perfect sense from big pharma's standpoint .. think about who is possibly lobbying this .. not the little guy ...
it's funny just a few years ago everyone cried for legalization not thinking of the consequence now that it's happening everyone is crying what about us ... what did everyone think would happen , you scream look how many tax dollars , look how much cannabis makes ... are you really surprised at what's coming ..

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post.

Yea, it will be ran by big time corporations who will hire world renown botanists who would of never touched this plant years ago. All the while banning homegrows like canada is doing right now. I find it funny how easy it was for them, get a renown dr to make a documentary about how mmj is effective for the ill, throw some children its saving in there to jerk their hearts, and play it on cnn twice a month and the masses soon follow. I saw this coming years ago and thats why I started steering away from donating to clubs and more towards building my own solid base of patients and clientel, they know my meds do not contain harmful chemicals (which commercial weed will be harmful as sin), my meds are organic, they know my prices are less than half what theyd pay after taxes at a brick and mortar disp. They know Im consistent and will work with them when they are struggling financially. My livlihood isnt going anywhere. Ill continue growing even if they ban it. Didnt stop anyone in my family before 1996, def wont stop us now.

a response from Joe Serna.........

Mr. ******************,

Thank you for sharing your experience as a patient. I've heard other similar accounts, and having lost three parents, an aunt, and a grandmother to cancer, I have a better understanding of that particular disease than most (unfortunately). With that said, I respectfully remind you that I was the lone "no" vote last time the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors debated the merits of a de facto ban on medical marijuana dispensaries and cultivation. Also, please realize that Supervisor MacGlashan is the one who has proposed this latest effort to ban cannabis cultivation in unincorporated Sacramento County.

Again, thank you for taking time to let me know your feelings about this proposal. The Board will consider it tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22, no earlier than 9:45 AM. You and others are welcome to come provide comment regarding the proposal at that time.

- Phil

WOW, didnt see the results from the indoor ban, BUT I guess OUTDOOR was voted to be banned

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Sacramento County supervisors have unanimously voted to ban outdoor marijuana crops after hearing from law enforcement officials who said the region has seen an explosion of grow sites.

The Sacramento Bee reports Sheriff Scott Jones told supervisors Tuesday that marijuana plants have increased throughout the county because of a lack of clarity in federal and state laws and inconsistent prosecution.

County aides and law enforcement showed numerous aerial photos of reported grow sites, including open space near a school and sports complex.

The new restrictions would apply to unincorporated Sacramento County and likely take effect in mid-June. The city of Sacramento already bans outdoor cultivation in residential areas, while Elk Grove prohibits all outdoor marijuana growth.

Some advocates for medical marijuana said law enforcement overstated the risks associated with growing pot.

That`s A bunch of shit! Should take it to the people like they did in Butte Co.

and maybe a stupid question but if I was to attach a green house to a structure, is that indoor or outdoor? Hmmmmm

I think that would depend on the building permit and how it was applied?

That depends on how the supervisors want to view it. Our county supes debated the question and finally decided it qualifies as indoor.

Sons of bitches! So they're basically going for a total ban a la Fresno County.
