I have been interested in the results others have had with Pheno expressions altering the dark/light periods. Perhaps there is an ideal cycle for certain cultivars or essential oil production? just curious what others have found.

Of course, I've done 12/12, but based on caveman's thread (I think it was his) on the gas lantern or reduced photoperiod technique, I've also played around with that going as far as a 10hr day. I've done one 11/13 run, too, and I felt that was easiest to deal with in terms of setting timers and such. I ran different strains for all of these, so I can't really well make comparisons.

Ya I am in the same boat, just hoping to hear about others experiences, I should find cavemans thread and read it.

I've always ran 11/13 basically . It would make u.w. not tighten my neck so much causing head pain . Ive went down to 10 too . Always seams to make good size buds. Im not a pro though. I havnt tried going down from 24 in 15 minute increments every other week i think it is though yet. Been awhile i forget how it goes now.

I hear all this talk of lowering the day light hours, but what about lengthening the hours? In my area when flowering is triggered outdoors the sun rises at 6:17am and sets at 8:19pm. Knowing that it's still light 10-30 min before sun up and after sun down, you can come to the conclusion that 14-15 hours of sunlight (or 9-10hours of dark) will induce cannabis to flower. Different strains take at different times, so maybe it would be safe to say 13 or 14 hours on will still flower plants, and give them extra energy in the form of extra photosynthesis?

has anybody tried this? Just a waste of extra electricity?

I seldom ever run a pure 12/12 light cycle

For Indica's and hybrids I tend to use 12.5 on and 11.5 off to encourage more stack....
This technique is not for the energy saver types ......

I prefer 11 on and 13 off for Sativas..........

Extra half hour isn't to bad, I'm sure that wouldn't break the bank. I like the idea of long indoor hours to help find what will flower early outside and hopefully finish sooner outside aswell....

Smart idea, I alos like the Idea of longer hours for indicas to encourage stack, it would be neat to have time lapse cameras showing how two exact clones grow with the cycles, it might be easier to see that way.

just finished up an 11/13 run, really did like the results. finish time was a bit longer but i did have a light leak week one so there is that variable. all in all i cant complain.
this increase of lights thing is compelling. coming along for the ride here.
happy farmin;)

to be honest i have not ran this strain in quite a while. from what i remember her node spacing was much more stretched in the past. ive lost all my prior logs in moves. so it sucks cause i have nothing to compare to but my memory, which lets face it is not the greatest. also my waterings were much less random. if that makes sense.? seemed from what i remember was that midway threw flower i would have to hand water some girls more than others. im pretty sure that was due to bad root building in the past but still. on point this every 3_4 days all at once.

other than that flavor and smell let in alot of this girls "blue" side show. she got fruitier than what i remember. then there is this lady i have going that is expressing some things ive never seen before, and i cant figure out what ive done differently im very baffled by it. scratch my head every time i go in there.

broader, leaves darker green. temps are a bit cooler but never has it had this big of an impact on resin production.
in the hydroton she put off some nice purples, but havent seen it since moving back to soil. very long trichome stalks.
happy farmin;)
