Sounds good. Except.....tin foil is bad. It traps heat. It has uneven reflective properties that cause hot spots and can cause burning. It reacts badly to certain chemicals.
Best of luck.
Welcome to the farm.

I actually use a combo of the panda plastic and mylar. The panda is a great reflector! The only reason why I still use the mylar is I have it up for 2 years and the shit still looks real good!

Ok, ""master" DsKush...had to hit you on that considering u be a noob an all.....lol
I can throw some at you, but mind you at $50-150 your gonna get prolly Chinese made fo sure.
And I have not used either, but at that price, would be where I would start.
Unless your buying top dollar, the low end uses inferior diodes. say a 3watt diode is prolly going to be close to like 1.7 watts.
So a 300 watt led panel....this one for example...from Ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/300W-LED-Gr...1424419?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item1e8fca6323

at $89 and free shipping...buy now...no bidding

300 watt...3watt leds so at 1.7 watts x 100 is 170. (100 diodes) if you look at specs for this light it say input draw wattage at 170-180 watts.
but it varies from model to model.
if your happy with 170 watt led for supplemental lighting, this would work. its got mixed red and blu and white leds...but would work both veg and flower.

here's another:

some u will have to bid on....just make sure about shipping cost.

try Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=led+grow+light

Even Walmart:
http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=led grow light

Good luck on ur led search

No problem...I have a basic 14watt led panel. 12"x12" 255 leds blue and red
now at 14 watts and 255 diodes you can do the math, and see these are way low power...
But I had it over one plant, and I trained it...that's bending branches and specific pruning. no heat no stress...the seedling grew great.
then I added an 80 watt cfl for couple weeks then outside it went...real strong and healthy.
I don't believe its all in the lumens or power the light puts out...more on the light spectrum...red, blue... (less is more).

this is from the led and 80 watt cfl

DONT MIX IN VERMICULITE! Seriously

Also don't buy cheap LED's! Seriously

You'll use them till you realize they suck, then they'll just sit in a closet somewhere.

Good luck

Also why is that plant in full flower wet?

Not everybody can afford expensive leds, and at $50-150 your not going to get the best of lights, so yes be wary of buying cheap leds.

The wet plant was brought in from outside, for picture taking. and I set it back out. very mold resistant so I had no worries

Don't waste your time or money on cheap LEDs. There are plenty of people on here using quality LEDs with great results.

What i am trying to get at is, there are no good LEDs in that price range. Quality parts simply do not cost that little, even coming straight out of china. You will also find most, if not all LED companies will tell you not to switch lights as it will stress the plants. If you start growing under LED, you should finish under LED.

Just trying to save you some cash and headache man, you are going to be pissed you wasted 50-100bux and that LED is going to be in the closet or trash. You are better off picking up some CFL's or tube lights.

Sorry if its not the answer you were hoping for...

Jinxjj has a point, I haven't tried the higher wattage cheapos. you will want to be sure that the angle of the led light is close to 60 degrees instead of the 90/120 degree angle. the 60 degree angle will put more light to your canopy instead of spread out.
Also a secondary lens is recommended, it increases your output. make sure you get a good spread of spectrum.

So you are taking a risk on the light you get, some people will like a certain light others may not. a cheapo will prolly be ok for veg, not sure about flowering..............

I agree with ya that it will DEF not be of any use for flowering, he MIGHT be able to get away with using it in VEG but like i said better bang for your buck with other lights.

Also, regarding the lens, here is a quick blurb from the site i got my LEDs from about lenses. Take it for what you will.

  1. What are "optical" lenses and what do they do to the light emitted from the diodes?
Some companies market "optical" lenses on their LED grow lights. G8LED does not use these lenses as they result in a loss of light intensity emitted from the diodes. The optical lenses are a plastic cover that goes over the diode which concentrates the light to a smaller grow area in an attempt to penetrate further. G8LED uses 3 Watt diodes which penetrate up to 60 inches and thus does not need to concentrate the light with plastic covers which cause the diode to lose 15% intensity due to reflection of the light.

Ya I seen info on the secondary lens, pretty much depends on type of lens and diode, but this one company state that even with the slight loss of output the special lens that's made for their lights, takes the angle from 90/120 to 60 degrees and it increases the output as far as par an such. and they aint cheap!

But I do agree on you get what you pay for... and with leds, the good ones cost $$$$$$$
