Gfs 6hr snow acc conus2 29

not much here banana belt, warms up nice during day.....

We need the snow, but we also need it to stick around through summer. It's no longer sticking through winter.

2014 summer rainfall was impressive and I'd been predicting it would translate to a heavy winter. February snowfall broke 70+ year old records in CO and I'm hoping the trend continues all through March and April. The last year has been exactly what we needed in this state and still many ranchers suffered last summer.

CA on the other hand, looks like its in for another hellish drought season instead of a summer.

"It's no longer sticking through winter."....That can't be good for the ski resorts...Northstar, Heavenly, Kirkwood and Squaw Valley...spent lots of time on those slopes when I lived in Silicon Valley.

The more I've been reading, especially from the climatology people, the more it's looking like the entire Western US is going to enter into some sort of drought scenario. The real question seems to be for how long.

No, it's not very good at all. They also can't always make snow because it's too warm, plus, they've gotta draw water from the reservoirs.

Always wanted to go back to Silicon Valley, but I was in the 89 quake. 1/90 I was out of there with what I was left with....@Seamaiden

Southern California checking in!

Anyone got some snowmonster from last year?

My MOM! She's always going on about how much better it is to live in the desert (north of Yucca Valley) because of temps and snow. So far, since they moved there full time they've had more cold AND rain AND snow than we have in the central Sierra. My mom.

I think you guys are confused... It's 86 degrees and I'm at the beach in my board shorts ;)

Back to mountains and snow tomorrow though ;(

Water is low for sure in Ca, can't we harvest some of this snow across North America? It's not like there isn't enough water around the world, just can't get the water to drought stricken areas. I would be much more interested in a water pipeline than an oil pipeline. If stuff hits the fan, I would rather have water than oil.
