I have a friend like many of us do of this generation that has a crazy father that was in the war in Vietnam. One day we sit and smoke a joint of fine of today's finest og kush i grew my self. After taking a few drags he starts to tell a old war story like many I've here before of endless jungle and harsh terrain. Setting many of his squad blown to bits. He said one morning he awoke to his platoon gone. He said for days he walked alone thru the jungle. The rainy season had just past. The humidity in the air made it hard to breath and the stench of death was thick in the jungle. He coughed and said this is some good shit here but the shit I found there i never smoked any thing that strong since.,any way the smell gout closer and closer as I cut my way thru the jungle along a river . He says he sees more and more guys and the smell gets more intense. After walking for days he finally finds what carried the stench. A patch of wild cannabis growing in knee high water that were tall as trees he said atleast 14'tall. I say yea ive years many story of killer bud from the far east in the 70s but its all story's. He replys I still grow it in the corn field each year have to your it down . Each year it seeds it self and i save the seeds for next year. When I found the patch i cut down as much as i could and stuffed it in my pack. When I finally find my way back to Camp i hung and dried the huge bud. We smoked it and i swear i tripped it was so strong. After my next mission i Went back into the bush looking for that patch or another like it but didn't find it and a few days later the rain came back for days and that whole area was under water and he never found his platoon or the patch again . Recently my friend dad died and he was going threw his things and found a bag of seeds labled Nam Haze my friend not being a grower gifted then to me . I he out a batch of 50 many werent suitable to grow indoors being they would get tall lanky and just keep flowing but never mature. After a few generations and much research i started manipulating the light cycle to 11 13 i found a free phenos it triggerd to ripen in11 weeks . It gave three distinct pheno type that were a tall tree with black leaves and after ten weeks black buds. Another that was pink hued and smell of trop

Most if not all bud I smoked there was Thai from around Nam or Cambodia don't think there was haze around then maybe he just named it that for a reason. But it seemed all the great great sativa I puffed there was Thai related either home grown or Cambodian Thai's. No ceiling great great sat high. It usually all came from Mekong delta either brought in from next door or grown by the farmers around old French factorys and plantations like Dalat.

Maybe he put some of the haze bro's haze in it when he shipped back the timing would be right for the haze to be added. But didn't see anything in story about any breeding or crosses he worked on but makes sense since he called it haze, he prolly diid add some of the first hazes done in Cali.

I remember Di Wee crossed his Dalat to shorten the 21, 18 and 16 weekers he had. Some worked out after he worked on the Dalat and got it some way stable. Going to get some more Dalat crosses from a great bro can't wait to grow that outdoor again can be very special with the right pheno . Nam weed at its best that we puffed daily, awesome Sativa n8tive

No doubt brother. To bad more of the lineage of the great strains of today is unknown and wasnt recorded. I try keep track of my strains lineage and take notes but sometimes I get stoned and forget or hit a female with multiple males in different branches and it gets confusing.lol

I was wondering that i have a pheno at 12weeks and the buds just keep growing almost as if it is growing and flowering at the same time just dropped the light to 10.5 hours to see if she finishes been at 11 for a few weeks now. The phenos ive had have that high with no ceiling to the high or couch lock. Refreshing in these days of the OG ,kush craze . In your experience what would you need with to shorten flowing time and keep that high and sativa flavor? Ive tried a Afghan x skunk. And a NL male haven't grown these out yet for the results.

With great Sativas its hard to start them sometimes so I go to 11/13 to get them going good but would go back to 12/12 once they got going but hell a great Sativa is done when its done and early pickin uaually getsyou the more body high in it so when you decide to grow a Sativa its best to have that time available to grow its full length to get the best plant you can in the end. You can cross it to cut growing time but your affecting its great Sativa high so you have to decide what you want quick bud or great Sat. high bro.

No doubt I'll wait a few more weeks and see if she fills out she's yellowing up alot and losing her panels. I waited 14 weeks once and it was well worth the wait for the unique smoke.but that was some Columbian.

No Haze there as I remember Vietnam Black, Laotian, Cambodian, Thai and a lot of good stuff out of the Mekong...I can still remember how paranoid newbies were when introduced to the weed.

If you're looking for something to cross that sativa to, why not c99?
I've had some sativa phenos of c99 that finished pretty damn quick. Even had a nice sativa effects. Just my $.02

Yeah, you guys are getting equatorial. Just the way I like it. Bringing down the flowering time while retaining the aromatic and psychoactive qualities is the goal of most folks that choose to work with these types of plants. After 14,16 or 18+ weeks of flowering most growers have had enough.

I've just accepted things the way the are. Sure you can hit them with Indica and they flower in half the time and are half the size but too often they also have half the high. Therein lies the rub. No way around it. Of course you might be able to select for some of that magic but it is very elusive. If you must cross I'd select finding something quick, resinous and lacking in the odor and flavor department. You basically want a plant that won't overpower or overly influence the Equatorial strain you are crossing it with.

In my experience with haze (which is limited to Nevilles haze, super silver haze and a moonshine haze cross) it's Thai. I've been to Thailand a couple times and Cambodia once, each trip I brought home seed and grew it out. Once right next to a pack of Nevilles haze. The near identical aromas, highs, tastes and flowering times have me convinced that they are closely related. I'd take the haze moniker with a grain of salt. Probably just a catch all name fore jungle weed.
