Hehee, a little yes...

Honestly mate, its the dissolved oxygen in the water that does the trick, fast moving water collects more oxygen ;).... Nft is cool for fast water over the roots as they are static roots and suffer little if any mechanical damage from the speed of the water.
Dissolved oxygen will stay in the water for a period of time before it fizzes out, that's why I choose to seriously agitate the water in my res and keep a smooth but still quite fast flow through the tubes, my roots dont even dance in the flow...

Fearing sounding like a know it all..

Love it! Thx for sharing :)

Large diameter pipe is prohibitively expensive around here...trying to think of a way to build some channels...or maybe even tables. You mentioned tables...what was the scoop with those?

I'm sure you'll spot something useful!

The tables I used are just purpose made nft tables/trays, the ones I've just used are made by nutriculture.

The canopy is really full now.. Waiting for flowering to start developing. Just did a partial res change and began to alter feed ratios to flower.

I am a Jacks Pro User and for the most part mix all My own I like the way you have everything in pre mixes and
was wondering how long can you keep your mixed concentrates on the shelf or do ya use it up fairly fast.
If you have already said Sorry for missing it
One thing for sure The attention you have on your Ladies show in the Plants Bro

Thanks for following along flyinJ..

I dont run them nft, I run them flooded, what can be called dft/dwc/rdwc/uc/Aeroflo etc etc.. I call this form of water culture in tubes dft or deep flow technique, just because most research I can find on the subject is under that title.

I'm keen to talk to users of jacks hydro, as its the most similar in the US to what I'm using here in the EU.
What ratio of jacks:calnit do you use?

But in answer to you, I only mix a couple of litres of stock solution at a time. I do this in 1 litre bottles, and use around 1 a week or maybe two or three depending on time of growth. I alter the ratios for veg, then early flower, late flower and then ripening... So sometimes I could mix a bottle of A every week and B every 2 or 3, or vise versa, but never longer. Convoluted answer sorry, high! Lol

I actually have little to do with them other than maintaining their feed and environment.

Any more questions or comments welcome bro.

Thanks

Its all good and yea I follow
I have it down like that I mix a3 grams of Jacks pro 5-12-26 NPK and 2 grams of the 15-0-0 Calcium Nitrate with Mg at .5 grams giving me 875 ppm at 100% then I dilute to 25% for early veg up to, But No more then 75% in flower
I do cut way Back on the 15-0-0 in flower and Bump the Phosphorus and potassium w/ RAW pure Its a great product
Still yea ....EU eastern Europe ?
Brother your the Man I send big Props to you and yours for the job you do with your Grow Please . . . .stay with the great Pics and updates
it is appreciated.

UK.. European nutes..

At the minute I think we're about running the same ratio, I'm adding 3:2:0.5 - kristalon(3-11-38-4):cacininit(15-0-0):MgS to reach my desired ec.

But in early flower/veg I run at 3:5:1 and towards late flower work down to 1:0:0 so just kristalon which is close to your jacks hydro.

I'll keep putting up pics as long as there's a worthy muse.

Good to see you around @billy liar

Followed your tree grows but this is a new direction, excited to see where you go with these. Not judging but any reason you bailed on bigger plants? Can imagine this is a lot easier to manage than the size of plants you were working with before.

Didn't bail on the trees as such, but don't have a suitable space at the minute...
This has its own unseen work in keeping the mothers and getting cuts ready on time etc etc.

Hi all,
Just preparing for planting up the next lot of tubes.

Here are the cuts from the Pez mothers and a few V3's too. They're rooting into 1 inch rockwool cubes.
IMG 20150614 171201 noexif

Also I've cleaned out the aero cloner and washed all the cups and collars with bleach and rinsed. Once rooted through the rockwool the cuts will go in here to veg the roots.
IMG 20150614 171129 noexif

And here's the mothers I'm trying to reduce down to a hand full.

I'll be assembling some more of the tubes ready for when these cuttings are ready to transplant. So will get a few pics together of the build..

OK so big post time lol....

It's a key time and quite an organised one for me lol...

First here's how the ro source water looks, not very RO hehee.. I forgot to get the temp, but it sits around 22°c, with the UV steriliser I'm not too fussed about the temps though..

pH
IMG 20150618 095724 noexif

PPM @ 500 = 1.0ec
IMG 20150618 095716 noexif

Now on to the cuttings. Here I have cuttings from a s1 version of a cutting from the PNW known as Pez. Purportedly an early ancestor of the northern lights family of plants. There's ten pheno's here and cuts from three pheno's of heaths V3 (G13/WWxNL).

So today is transplant day to aero, this is to veg the roots. Here's a cutting going in.
IMG 20150618 101055 noexif

And here's the cuttings all transplanted.
IMG 20150618 103904 noexif

Aero cloner PPM @ 500ppm = 1.0ec.
IMG 20150618 103948 noexif

Aero cloner pH. Over the next few days I will increase ec and I expect the pH to drop to around 5.7 all going well.
IMG 20150618 104009 noexif

Aero cloner temps, this will rise when the lid goes on, there sodium hypochlorite at around 5ppm to keep on top of that...
IMG 20150618 104013 noexif

And the lid back on. My plan is:
Day 1, vents closed light high.
Day 2, vent open lights high. Increase ec to 0.9/450ppm.
Day 3, lid off light high. Increase ec to 1.0/500ppm
Day 4, lid off light about 3 inches from plant tops. Increase ec to 1.1/550ppm. This should harden them off nicely if all goes to plan.
Day 5, transplant to tubes with ec of 1.2/600ppm.
IMG 20150618 105252 noexif

And on another note here's one of the Pez mothers that are kept alive till the selection is done.
IMG 20150618 105640 noexif

Flower room Max/mins, and current (lights off). The top figure is measured from a probe at the canopy height. This probe is bunched together with the A/C probe (moved from inside the indoor unit), fan speed probe and external display probe. From these figure I've calculated mean temperature, mean RH and this gives me a mean VPD for the day. Today's mean VPD is 0.84kpa, I know its only a mean average, but I'm chuffed to bits when I calculate that!

A quick look at root development, and all seems to be going quite according to plan.
The lid is now off and light still high, around 20 inches, or 500mm above plants maybe more..

The thing that will decide upon transplnat to the flower room is the structure of these roots, I would like to see all have secondary roots and hopefully all roots to have established in the water, reducing or eliminating any shock.
