Hello fellow farmers
I began growing in 2012 after learning of Prop 215 in my pain management doctor's office. I lived in Reseda/Tarzana in the SFV foreight years. Our annual sativa tree was picked at, microwaved and smoked. I remember seeing fat indica leaves for the first time in 1980, about the time I quit Cannabis. Having found it after 31 years as a stockbroker, I realized that I was watching the next great industy emerge. I wish alchohol was illegal and cannabis the standard relaxant. My life is so much better without drink. I love to drink. My lifetime quota ran dry. I enjoy writing, learning, music, playing guitar, skiing, intelligent conversation, and thinkers. . .

Thank you Sea Maiden. Question: If a clone produce's S-1 and S-2 generations, can previously unseen pheno's show up in the third grow? Or Can the entire genetic pool open up and produce phenotype's from a clone? I think this happened with Chemdog clones. 3-5 S-1 seeds, 3 S-2 seeds. The third generation produced an Indica Dom Chem 4, or Chem D which I am cloning. A picture:

The. Chem D root locked slightly in a 2 1/2 gal container. I put in a 5 gal two days ago. She will need another transplant to keep her as a mother. The strain clones excellent and quickly. Did this S-3 need pollen source? or can a selfing clone produce pheno's. Thanks in advance.

S1 and S2 designations imply that clone was sexually reversed to make seeds, and in that instance, yes, I would expect to see many phenotypes show up in the progeny. The entire genetic pool? I'm not so sure about that.

Chem D lines are known for hermaphroditic tendencies. If it's producing its own pollen without your intervention and you're using that pollen, you may likely be strengthening those hermaphroditic tendencies.

Sea,

The eight clones I bot were tall,, smelled like white paint, took 80 or more days to finish, and produced a few seeds. I find it interesting that a clone with fixed genetic traits produced seeds with another phenotype. I do not understand horticultural genetics well yet, but thought a clone could only grow as a replica of mother. The selfing seems a genetic trait of the tall clones. When I found this Chem-D is smoked like gas had been poured on bud. I have mothered quite a few and have some growing. I still do not get why selfing a clone could produce another very different phenotype What am I missing? Thanks.

Epigenetics and environment. All play a role in phenotypical, or physical expressions of genetic makeup.
