So i have 5 plants been havin some problems with nute burn on one but i got a new light this week a 1000w hps and it seems one plant has badly burned top leaves. im not thinking it is not the nute burn problem because i have two plants in the container and the other one looks great but its aldo about 8 inches shorter. you can see the severely twisting leaves near the top of thus pic its hard.to see the yellow with hps on. any ideas? what am i doing wrong ive been waitung til soil is bone dry to water is that too long?

Hey Reef,
Sorry to hear about your plant(s), I think a little more info on your set-up will help some of the experienced famers here to better diagnose and potentially fix your problem (i.e., light distances from canopy, room/tent temps/humidity, ventilation, fans, etc..). In my experience when the damage is only towards the top of your plant, its probably heat stress (especially considering the fact that you just introduced a 1000watt heater to your grow area). Plants that have water/moisture readily available can sometimes counter the effects of the added heat by simply expelling more moisture onto their leaves which assists in cooling of the plant. It would be my guess that your issue is a combination of light too close(heat) and not enough moisture(cool) to help the plant deal with the changes you made as well as some ventilation/fan issues.
Things to try: -Put a little more distance between your light and canopy
-Water a little more to counter the new heat you've added to your grow..Also, "completely" drying out your soil
IMO is not good to do, soil should have some kind of moisture to it at all times...
- Good ventilation, especially fans blowing in-between your canopy and light source(s).
Hope this helps a little..DB

I would bet my current grow that its heat stress as well as some nute issues. Unless you have a significant AC unit to keep that vertical light in check, you're going to continue to run into these problems... Do you have any type of temperature gun so that you could tell us what your canopy temps are? DB

def not overwatering its only the top of thst one plant that was closest to.the light i have a thermometer i have directly wgere the top of my canooy is measures 76-78 degrees during lights on with. but the plant im hsvibg ptoblems with is higher than thermometer by 4 to 6 inches and i out my hand wgere that plant was positioned it git warmpretty quickly

Heat stress for me begins with leaf edges curling up and inwards.....I'm leaning towards overfeeding and or pH issues.
But I'm only guessing. Theres not much info to go on.

Best of luck.

If you have the vertical space, raise that umbrella up! That light bulb you have is giving off killer rays, even from 3 feet, so IMO you will not have any negative effects by backing the light off a little only positive effects.. It looks like you're in a tent so if going up isn't an option, you could get a light mover and this would keep those hot spots down.

Absolutely shroom, I have also seen/observed heat stress cause the curling down thing when there wasn't enough moisture up in there, up in there!!

Interesting.
Maybe some light stress as well ?

@reeferman420 How many plants per container and how big is the container?

When checking pots for watering, make sure to, if in soil anyway to poke forefinger in up to 1st or second knuckle. If dry then it's time to water. @DOGBUDS is telling you some legit info on the changes in your groom. Tell us a bit more of your stats and enviro.

IMO you should start with raising your light, you will not only get better light spread for all, you will reduce the potential heat stress on the one victim.. Also as Jump said, 1", max 2" of dry soil you'll probably want to think about watering, doesn't mean you have to drench them, just a nice balance that you will need to find. DB
