Redeyed genetics locktite f2 testers in hydro by mrchocolate

Hello Everyone.

Several weeks ago I was blessed with the opportunity to test a pack of F2Locktite from Redeyed Genetics. I will be updating this thread once a week and I'll do my best to respond to any questions.

About myself: I'm a LICENSED facility. I have several years of experience, but I rather not get into details for security reasons.

Objective: To document my Locktite F2 seed growing experience while providing HONEST and informative information regarding my grow experience with these seeds. Even with my years of experience, I occasionally screw up, as you'll see early on. However, I feel it's important to document and share these mistakes so you may also avoid these pitfalls.

Smoke Report: The smoke report will not be done by myself, but rather by my patience. There are a handful of very brutally honest clients that I have who are jaded and expect the best from me. Simply, if they say it's good, then it's GOOD. These are the type of smokers that can break down the smell, taste and potency. I also believe it's important to have an independent review of your product, for obvious reasons.

Lab Testing
: If any lab testing is done I'll post any results on this thread.

What I expect from you: Let's keep this thread positive and on track.

Seeds: Locktite F2
Company: RedEyed Genetics
System: Recirculating Deep Water Culture.
Nutrients: Cutting Edge Nutrients along with compost tea.

Time: Week 1 of Seedling
Room Temp: Approx 75F
Nutrients: None used, only compost tea.

After 72 hours 9 of 10 seeds have sprouted. This is my first time after years having used foam cubes to germinate any seeds after having used Organic rooting cubes for many years ( root riots, etc.) The cubes were soaked in compost tea for approx 2 hours and the seeds were directly planted into the cubes approximately a 1/2 inch below the surface.

I Screwed UP:

After approx 4 days from planting I tore open the one foam cube in which the seed had not germinated. Right away I found out I had screwed up. What I found was that I while planting over 50+ seeds that night I had somehow not squeezed out excess water from this cube. I could see the seed had germinated but was quickly drowned. The germination rate was actually 10/10 however I quickly killed off this seedling due to grower error.

This picture was taken approx 3-5 days after seeds were planted.

Screw up #2

Shortly after I had planted these seeds there was a family emergency and I was forced to head out of town. During this time I left my 50+ seedlings with a friend to care for the babies while I was gone. I thought I had given him clear instructions on how to care for the babes.... but I soon found out otherwise.

During this time my poor babies were over watered (excess water was not removed) and over fed a high dosage of synthetic nutrients vs the (1/20 ratio + compost tea) dosing I usually give them. After being gone for a week my friend had nearly killed 1/3 of the seedlings.

If you have not done this before, an overdose of synthetic nutrients on seedlings screws around with the hormones and will cause not only death of the seedlings, those that survive will have abnormal leaf growth. Leafs will grow asymmetrically and begin to grow clockwise/counterclockwise wise and will be set back for several days.

Notes:
The end damage to the Locktite F2 was 2 more seedlings gone with only 7 left. However it should be noted that out of all the seedlings I had planted, the Locktite F2 managed the stress pretty well and sustained some of the least overall damage when compared to many of the other seed strains they were planted with.

After 48 hours of pure water and compost tea these seedlings quickly recovered.* I decided to transfer the Locktite f2 earlier than normal to my veg room to assist in the recovery.

Picture: These were the seedlings 48 hours after recovery and while transplanting to my veg room. You can see that they are still pretty beat up and will need more time to recover.

Things finally start to get good.

Time: Week 1 Veg day 1
Nutrients: Approx 600 ppm. Cutting Edge + Compost Tea
Foliage Spray: Compost Tea
Room Temp: 72-75 F
Co2: 1000-1200 ppm
Water Temp: 64-68F

After getting off to a terrible start things are back on track. 3 days after transferring the Locktite F2 seedlings over to the veg room they've recovered extremely well. This will be officially day 1 of vegging, however these were brought into the vegging buckets alot smaller and earlier than typical. The plants have been numbered and notes will be added as needed for future reference.

Now that things are rolling, like they usually are, I'm looking forward to seeing what these strains can offer. Cheers.

Things go into EASY mode....

Time: Week 2 day 8 of Veg
Nutrients: Approx 600 ppm. Cutting Edge + Compost Tea
Foliage Spray: Compost Tea
Room Temp: 72-75 F
Co2: 1000-1200 ppm
Water Temp: 64-68F

Journal: Today is the start of week 2 day 8 of vegging and the plants have fully recovered from near death. I forgot to add root photos, but upon inspection a couple of roots have begun to protrude approximately 6 inches from the bot of the netted pots with each plant. The roots are pure white and are showing no signs of stress. Newly developed leafs show no sign of sickness and/or stress. I began to conservatively "FIM" the top of the plants. I applied the first of two weekly foliage sprays. The foliage spray I use consists of a blend of sea kelp, fish protein, rock dust, black strap molasses, earthworm castings, ancient forest and beneficial fungi mix.

Personal: Happy at how these genetics have bounced back and now that they are in my veg buckets it's pretty much easy mode from this point on. On the IC forums where I'm also posting this journal someone made the following comments;

" I love me some Locktite. I bought some last winter and popped 5 beans in the spring. All 5 turned out to be females. I added them one at a time to my perpetual grow and have chopped down 3 so far and have 2 more in bloom. Large, frosty, sticky, gooey colas that taste sweet and smooth. Heavy yield and a Top Shelf buzz that is just as strong as my Platinum GSC. Vigorous plant in all stages, don't see how you can be disappointed with some f2s. Goodluck!"

Wow, I expected these to be good, but now I have even higher expectations, especially with the platinum GSC being one of the best smokes I've ever had.

Note: Foliage spray had been applied an hour earlier, which leaves brown dirty water like residue on the plant leafs. The purple and pink lights were a row of nearby LED lights that had not turned off for the night. (about a 5-10 min difference in the timers to prevent overloading the circuits.)

Wow, nice save. We've found these to be pretty resilient ourselves. It also looks like they will be fairly quick finishers for us. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these journals, we really appreciate it, we know how much time it takes to do them! We will definitely be pulling up a chair!

Hi everyone. Sorry for not making the Monday update. These ladies (hopefully no males) are still in veg. I'll be making a proper update on this post tomorrow. Had to leave the farm for a couple of days and haven't been back since to make a proper update. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Time: Week 2 day 12 of Veg
Nutrients: Approx 600 ppm. Cutting Edge + Compost Tea
Foliage Spray: Compost Tea
Room Temp: 72-75 F
Co2: 1000-1200 ppm
Water Temp: 64-68F

NOTE: This journal is only 4 1/2 days after the previous journal and pictures were taken early due to not being able to make it back to the farm for my weekly Monday update.

Journal: Today is the start of week 2 day 10 of veg. The plants that were least damaged have really began to take off in growth (plants 1,4,5). I checked the root growth and, as expected, the larger plants had the largest root developments. All the roots were "Santa's Beard" white. However, the two plants that had been hit hardest from the stress, plants #2, #3, and #7 had some brownish and sickly growth in the older section of the roots from about a week ago that were about 2-3 inches long from roots that were about 12+ inches long. I'm not too concerned about this because the newer growth from these plants were all healthy and pure white roots. I'll continue to observe the roots.

I also noticed that they haven't responded very well to "FIM." They seem to grow in a single stalk regardless of the FIM, so I'll TOP the plants when I get back.

Personal: Very happy about how well these plants have bounced back. They've been very hardy plants so far but I'm concerned of the snowball, in which the plants that started off slightly healthier will also grow A LOT faster and will make it harder to pick out the best keeper if the smaller plants have a higher quality medicine.

Plant #2
One of the two plants with what appears to be a little bit of root rot from about a week ago that is about 2-3 inches long. All new roots are bright white.

Plant #3
The second of two plants that appears to have a little bit of old root rot. However all new growth is bright white.

Room Temp: 72-75 F
Co2: 1000-1200 ppm

NOTE: This journal this journal was taken 6 days after the previous journal and slightly threw off my typical Monday journal entry, so expect another entry this Monday 4 days from this journal.

Journal: Today is the start of week 2 day 18 of veg. The plants haven't really taken to the "FIM" very well and all the plants now have slightly cutup fan leafs and still a single growing stalk. Tomorrow I'll be Topping the plants. It's a good learning experience and my goal is to keep the plant as short and bushy as possible instead of the 8+ feet monsters that some plants have turned into in the past. Root growth on the plants are still going strong, including the plants that had sickly roots in the older section of the root growth, so I'm not really too concerned about this as much. Most likely some root rot had set in early due to the weak state I had put the plants into, but they've bounced back very well as you can see and no new root rot is visable.

Personal: Still happy with these plants and looking forward to the smoke. A few people I've chatted with on Instagram have said they prefer Locktite over the original version of Gorilla Glue #4. There have also been a few pics showing these ladies as being frostier than their mother. I can also see that the roots have finally taken hold on 3 of the plants so I'm expecting to see the plants grow a lot faster than they are growing now. Excited for the future of these girls.

Better Late Than Never with a little bit of bad news.

Time
: Week 4 day 24 of Veg
Nutrients: Approx 600 ppm. Cutting Edge + Compost Tea
Foliage Spray: Compost Tea
Room Temp: 72-75 F
Co2: 400 ppm (Co2 Shut down to reduce plant growth)
Water Temp: 64-68F

NOTE: Hi everyone. Had to skip last week's journal due to some issues that came up at the farm that were pretty serious which also caused me to miss this weeks Monday deadline....again. Basically I had to spend a whole week digging a massive trench during the hottest week of the year. Fun.

Journal: Today is Week 4 day 24 of Veg and as expected these plants still look beautiful. Big beautiful fat bear paw leafs and an overall stout and bushy plant. I mentioned in week 2 they were being stubborn and resisting my attempt to use low stress training and FIM and that still continued into week 3. At the beginning of week 4 I went straight to topping these ladies and they've responded very well. I'm going to continue to TOP these plants and will no longer FIM or use Low Stress training on these plants.

I also have to give RedEyed Genetics a thumbs up for doing a great job a stabilizing these plants. Out of the 7 that I'm growing out 6 of them look identical in structure, characteristic, being stubborn to low stress training and the leaf pattern. They've done a great job at stabilizing these plants in the F2 batch. Only plant 6 is growing differently from the group with a little more stretch and distance between internodes. For my first run of RedEyed Genetics I've had a very positive experience so far.

So, the kinda BAD NEWS:

So, here is the issue I'm having now. With the nightmare that led me to having to spend over a week digging trenches I'm behind schedule because I also have to make some major upgrades to the room these were going to go into, which included a new AC unit, gas lines, water chiller, and a deep water system for these girls. I don't want to over VEG these plants like I did my last upgraded room and have to deal with 10+ feet plants for an indoor grow, and that was 10+ feet at the 2nd week of flowering. These plants will need to be in Veg for another 3-4 weeks, so I'm going to have to push down on the brakes and slow down the development of these plants. It's unfortunate too, because these plants have finally established a LARGE root system and at this point they usually begin to explode with growth. So this is what I'm going to have to do....

I'm going to have to cutback on the nutrients to a very low amount, CUT the lighting in half, no more foliage feeding and shut down the Co2 machine. Sorry guys, I wish this grow could have gone smoother, but even with my experience and over planning BAD stuff happens and you just have to work through it. If you're a first time grower, BAD stuff happens and I know people like to sugar coat their journals so keep your head up and keep at it.

Nice grow so far! We're done with our test run (seed to smoke) and are VERY happy with the results of every pheno we got. The yield was outstanding as well. Of course, some phenos did better than others, but they were all gacked out, we had to clean the scissors constantly!

Hi @the.dude I'm not sure what happened with the test grow, just hope everything is OK with him and he's OK?? But thought I would throw in some shots of our in house test grow of the Locktite F2 run that we did. I'll throw up some nug shots later, it's very late and can't believe I'm not sleeping!!
