So, after doing a bunch of reading and getting really excited to try Coco I went to my Hydro store and they sold me Cana Terra pro plus.
I thought I was getting a blank slate to start with but this apparently has a touch of nutes to get by the first week or two. Composed of white peat , coco , composted bark. Bag says it has an ec of 1.1- 1.3. Also some lime and the whole she bang is ph buffered to hang around 5.8. -6.3.
This ends up sounding more soil like than true 100% coco.
Maybe not what I want for my first coco run? I am thinking of returning it..
Any experiences or input is appreciated as always!

it's not coco that's a peat based soilless mix. you want canna coco which is called just that. your hydro shop may not have it or the person just gave you the wrong bag. Google canna coco to see the bag you're looking for. that's a great soilless mix you have there though. I've used both that and their coco and i use their coco 100% pure mostly but i would use the terra again and maybe will outdoors in the future.

Ha!
Yeah , that's what I went in to get. That's what I get for trusting the info from my hydro store guy. This product actually sounds pretty sweet, just not what I want for this run.

Try Coco loco. Has guano earthworm casings perlite and is buffered I'm having great results. But I have heard tendency to get unwanted bugs from these bags..

he said he wanted the clean slate thing i think. canna coco is just buffered coco with trchoderma. in my experience, I've never met a hydro store owner who knew anything other than commercial bs and they would always get my orders wrong and try to make me buy what they failed to order properly. your guy sounds similar lol.

Compressed coco blocks. Don't pay for water. Canna coco 22-24$ a bag for 50l. Coco brick. 12$. Makes 60l. It is compressed and dried and have found less chance for bugs with these things. Up to you but after my butt got sore at 24 a bag I made the switch. Good luck mate

Also imo no perilite needed. The water air ratio in coco is already very good. Some people swear by the perilite in coco but why add more air and less room for the roots and less water holding capacity. I get that some want to water more. But coco holds only so much water anyway so water away. I did a side by side of plants with the only variable being 100% coco and the other 30% perilite. 100% coco slightly beat out perilite all the way through veg and flower. Don't get me wrong. You can add perilite and it will grow and produce tasty buds. But imo 100% coco all the way.

Alright, thanks for the replies everyone!
It will be returned. Maybe I'll try it out down the road but for now I am going to start with 100% coco.
The bricks do sound way more cost effective, but I am only starting out with eight one gallons ( ftmfw) so one bag will get me going easily.
Now about that drip system... I'll find you guys on another thread I suppose..
Cheers!
