My controller was 1500 and worth it. It pays for itself every time I use it.

I would probably do the same thing if I had the need, but being a small time basement grower without CO2 added, I'm thinking I'll probably just go with the bluelab connect solution. for $400, I can monitor the solution parameters remotely and have it send emails if the solution parameters go outside my limits.

I was going for micro commercial setup. Been dialing in for almost a year with this setup. I turned off the alarms as I constantly monitor my rooms and will know instantly. I can tell by what's going on with heat and rh by looking at it now.

Take a look at sensorpush. It is a very sensitive temp/humidity data logger. What it does: Sends temp/hum data to your phone in the form of a graph. Set hi/low text alerts for temp and humidity. Each sensor is $50 and bluetooth enabled. Setup is easy. A base-station is available for $150. That allows you to stay connected where ever you are. It has helped me be a better grower. Best praise I can give a tool. http://www.sensorpush.com/apps

Ive been working with new chips that are built a different way to monitor and control the plant , not the environment. When you grow a human baby do you adjust the babies nutrient uptake based on ambients?
No.
We monitor the organisms with tools. Not so much with plants yet.
With plants its very rare to see a grower monitor plant functions and Vital Signs, he monitors the plants ambient and the grower is a plant Observationist and adjust the plants nutes and ambient temps - water based on surroundings and not based on the monitored plants functions and Vital Signs.
So what are a plants Vital Signs?. Well with humans we got a pulse, body temps, and 1000's of other things we can scientifically Measure. Same for plants. Most of the tools for plants have not been accessible for plant elect chips until now. New chips are coming out and YES I can get them to work with 3.3 & 5 v. So arduino-ras-panda-lattelino boards are compatible with this chips that monitor animal and plant Vital Signs. These chips are amazing and can be used to measure chemicals/drug effects on Organs/organisms.
The chips are plant matter or blood based/animal. The chips are living organisms.
So how would we use a porometer and other useful plant tools that measure plants vital signs?

Rite now we monitor the ambient and not the plant itself. run off, temps, observation; I got all the kits if you're building electronic arduino-Ras plant learning kits. Yes we teach this to grade skool kids so its not that hard, now we have software programs that eliminate code writing.

But this is soon to be out dated. I'm just sharing the latest greatest stuff.

We can put plant plasma in the chips now. As always its easier to understand with human biology so this might help you understand organic chips,,, No not sun dried potatoes chips lol..

This is how we'll monitor petri dishes, test tubs, animals , plants and pathogens in the very near future. The chips will be mounted on the plant itself and or plant matter will be put in to the chip pretty cool huh, no more guessing;

new plant super Lungs to give your plant super growth , guaranteed for 3 yrs or 10 plant cycles.lol..
But for now labs will be able to see/monitor what plants and animals need exactly with out guess work. I'll put a WiFi chip on it...

AvidLearner had a thread where he was developing more of commercial grade auto grow system. I was instructing kids on grow room set ups this year in colo.. you'd be amazed at how many parents had there grade skool kids setting up the grow room automations, 3/4 of each classroom was filled with little youngsters setting up grow rooms, lmao... Summer Camps for kids lol

That's cool, did you code all that?
Yes, C+ and I built a icrap and android app to run them.

You dont need to know any code languages. My 8 yo students build a 110- 220 v automated grow rooms in 6 wks. When there done with the course they dont write any code in any text editors (see link and movie)... In the next course they write HTML5 javascript and C+ to build apps to run the Robots i taught them to build.

Then they can go into dads grow room and fix his plant problems after they take my hort class. By 10 yo they'll get better quality and more g/watt than their parent's rooms.

adults can start here;
Dont be a know it all like me. you'll save lots of time taking a course to finish your grow room projects.

btw
Arduino-Ras and boards can call google voice, siri, cortana,
google voice was open sourced this summer, how cool is that?

Linolatte, lattePanda boards and some others have Win10 so there are multiple ways to voice commands to control your robots,

That's pretty badass. I think the trully autonomous controller isn't there yet. Being able to read a plant can't be replicated unless taking molecular test real time to judge lack or over abundance of certain elements
