I transplanted some clones from rockwool into cups of perlite four days ago and they are looking a little droopy. They are still growing upward and at times of the day they seem a little perkier than others, but I wanted to get some opinions on what I might be doing wrong. This a hydro grow and right now the babies are being "flooded" by being dipped into a 5 gallon bucket of nutrients 4x per day (every 4.5 hours during the daytime). I am planning to transplant them into hydroton on 4x4 flood tables when they get a little bigger and their new home has been built.

2 week old clones of white widow; 4-5” in height
Rooted in rockwool and put in beer cups full of perlite
Feeding them 550 ppm of Super Veg A/B, made from RO water with cal/mag added
Under 1000W MH conversion bulb that is 36” from canopy
18/6 light cycle
RH 70% with a fogger
Room temp 78deg F with A/C

Thanx in advance, farmers...

Thanks for the advice. I've switched to watering 2x per day and I'll update you guys.

You are using 2 different mediums which are fighting what you need. I would stop dipping them and water them around the edges 4x a day. You are soaking the rockwool and allowing the perlite to stay too dry. You need to soak the perlite and just let the rockwool wick in moisture. You need to keep the perlite moist to coax them roots out. JK
Change all the you need to I would.

JK, as usual your analysis is spot on. I started watering only the sides with a pitcher. No longer letting the rockwool soak for long periods. I'm flooding them once a day, very quickly, and hand watering the sides the other 3x per day. They are already perking up. You were right that the perlite was bone dry while the rockwool was still sopping wet, and that doesn't give the roots incentive to go anywhere.

Overwatering was my problem. I will snap some pics this weekend and hopefully show them off in their permanent hydroton home soon.

Hi smokesome, the white widow is the same cut that is available from Oaksterdam Nurseries. LACPG in hollywood carries them and Blue Angel in oakland also carries them.

Here is a picture after 4 days of modified watering. I'm flooding them once a day and watering only the outsides of the cup at other times. They have perked up nicely.
