lazy grower tips
Hi guys, I really hope you'll find it interesting

I am trying to figure out what is the best way for the lazy amateur to grow weed.
I ask because I find it hard to find posts for growers who would like to grow only one pot at a time, with as little effort as possible.

I will show you how I grow, after years of growing (with some success but lots of failures), with explanations. I have found lots of easy tricks for making my life easier, and I think amateur growers will be happy to read it.
I'll begin with some tips, and if you have any question or advise, I will be happy to show my process with all its details.

here is my growing method, and I'll be happy to hear professional opinion about it

growing method
1 - fast learning curve - in order to learn, you have to grow as many pots as possible at once, but on the other hand, you don't want to draw attention. this is why I grow in coco. I have 1 pot that I grow weed and 9 pots where I grow basil and tomatoes in my garden. using the 9 extra pots, I can make lots of "trial and error" without risking the real pot and without drawing any unwanted attention (because all hydro system do draw attention).

2 - so why not in soil? - because coco reacts much quicker to changes. if you give soil the wrong PH or ppm, it will take days before you see the changes. soil is easier for growing, but harder for learning.

3 - passive irrigation - you don't want to have the need for electricity, so irrigation has to be passive. you could build a system using gravity, but it makes the growing room bigger and uncomfortable. so I use small ropes that go from my coco to the water underneath it. the water "climbs" the rope upward and keeps the coco moist (or even wet) always.
I use coco/perlite(50/50) to worry less about over-watering.

I attach photos of my latest pot, who grow like this in my garden. I filled the water tank only once a week. it didn't have lots of light and the temperatures where too high 2 month ago and too cold for the last week. even though, I think for zero effort the results are not bad, no?

if you find it interesting, I will be happy to write more about it.

any expert advice about my ideas?

Continue please, i find your method interesting.

Thank you

can you help me with some expert advice ?

1 - can the nutes "climb" the rope? the ppm in the tank keep raising, so I thought maybe only free-nutes water are climbing the rope.
2 - should the roots grow out of my aired pot this way? I always see just the tips of my root, but they don't grow any further. do you know why? I am not sure that it is a problem, but I ask anyway. you could see what I mean in the first photo

Ah dunno 'bout expert.
But I'll take a swing at this.

1.
Yes, dissolved salts can climb.
While they do so, water evaporates from the tank, ropes, and container surface.
Capillary effect drags up salts, but salts do not evaporate.
That concentrates the solution.

2. The coco is too wet. Your roots are not seeking water because they already have plenty.
I 86'd the ropes right away,
Instead, I put a bubbler in the tank and let the splashing wet the bottom of the coco. If you get the height just right, root growth is assured.
Woots

Those are tomato roots. Same with cannabis though.

I no longer need as much meds so I had to stop using coco and DWC.
Now I just throw a seed at some FFOF and stand back.
Gets half the yield of our "solid state hydro", but that's still more than I need.

Good thread!
Aloha,
Weeze

Are they revegging or you have a very unique pheno?
Roots don’t seem very healthy, brown tips and all that.
Not a hydro guy but wouldn’t keeping the water a bit lower (and stop using the ropes) and encouraging the roots to grow into the water a better way?

Very hard to screw up with a balanced super soil..

Lol, I’m by far no expert. Nutes are in the water if the water climbes the rope then the nutes would to.

For me the easiest way to grow and only way I know how is organics. I read some npk gardening stuff and my head was spinning. No flush, no feeding, just watering and top dressing with amending between cycles. I dont know enough about either side to give major details I just feel that I wouldn't of continued growing if I had a nute program

By the way I should've called it living soil not organics as that can be misleading to some :).
