With a triffid-like Afghan, planted from regular seed, I was concerned that this fine specimen was a male and that I'd tempted fate by naming 'her' after the current Afghan Princess; Noal, Princess of Sa'id.

Separating 'her' from the 20/4 lighting used for the autos, I made a wee cupboard and set up the lighting to 12/12 and put a scrog net over the top to limit the upward growth. Looking through this and other forums, sexing was straight forward, they have balls or wisps. Easy. With anticipation, I waited and checked every day for a sign.

This morning, I was disappointed to see balls. With my mobile phone, I took a few photos and it confirmed that it looked like Noal, was in-fact a Prince, not a Princess. In the photo below, to me, they look like balls. Comparing the image to all those of males I could find, confirmed these were balls.

Reluctant to dramatically reduce 'his' size, with a sharp knife, I was ready to wait another week or so before condemning 'him' to cannabutter or some similar fate.

Balls2

BUT......

This evening using a macro lens on an elderly Nikon, these are some of the close-up photos of the 'balls' with whisps of feminine mystique.
I'm delighted to say, that Noal, looks like she's a real Princess. (Please tell me I'm right....) 😱😱😱

Man it’s so deceptive... one pic looks male and other looks female, if u have the time and can allow it go another week it should be definitive as to sex.
From all looks and experience on afghani strains they tend to drop sex into week 2 of flower period. Let’s say give her/him another week. If it’s a boy, that genetic is fire, I’d suggest you harvest the pollen. Space permitting.

The pictures didn't show male or female parts, at least not that I could see. The little wiggly thing doesn't appear to be a pistil. You will see 2 white fuzzy "hairs" in the shape of a "V". Single pistils aren't common and male pollen sacks usually appear in a small cluster, and the plants usually grow taller fairly quickly. The cruel thing is that the fastest growing plants after the 12/12 flip, are usually males. So if you have a couple plants that are suddenly growing taller, be vigilant for the male pollen balls.

weird i've never seen new pistils that were discolored like that and usually when u see a set you will see a few sets of pistils not just one. but they sure as hell look like pistils to me. idk btw u can sex under 18/6 with metal halide or full spectrum led's we didn't used to have led's when 18/6 was the way to veg and sex too. took about a month for most to show. HPS didn't work as well which seems weird since they are better suited to flower. never thought about that all these years. damum

The few football games I've seen, American not British, when a touchdown is scored there is a little dance by the player. I'm doing that dance! 🥳🤩🤪🥳
Thanks @Jimster

I'm so pleased I've taken a few cuttings and hope they root. (clones to you young bucks)👨‍🌾👩‍🌾

Congrats!! Cuttings are much easier during veg growing, so you are doing well. Regarding the "dance"... Football US starts tomorrow, so there will hopefully be some dancing at my household... providing my team wins, which will be a very tough game against the Super Bowl champs.

Now as a virgin grower, this whole bisexual thing is new to me. (oh come on, there had to be some innuendo 😱 😱 😱 )

Seriously now.

I had a beautiful specimen of a girl that I dropped the light on and broke her off at about 4". By the time I was able to get my act together and make colloidal silver, she had started flowering - being an autoflower.

With nothing to lose, I sprayed her with CS - relentlessly.

Having searched for photos I may have succeeded in my quest to get her to turn into a male but there are still lots of silver curvey female pistils.
Below is the latest photo. My view is I need to isolate him/her fairly soon and collect pollen.

When do you think the pollen will appear? (how long is a piece of string?) a rough guess is good, I'm away for a couple of weeks and have an understudy looking after the plants.
I'm a newbie, an understudy must be a .....

Thanks
Hermie

Is this a hermie-ed female about to flower and spread pollen around my grow room or are these self pollinated seeds?

Looks like you are going to have plenty of pollen soon! I don't know if it is hermed, but it has a bunch of male flower balls and will spread pollen as soon as they open up.
