Oh, chopped the following:

710 Hash 13- Great genetics that I wish I'd been able to grow better. The extract was wonderful, like an electromagnet powered couch lock with a good bit of euphoria. Got another seed, gonna replant and be more strategic.

Kalashnikov Seeds Katyusha- Similar to above, but extraction in progress. Not expecting much in terms of extract yield, but very excited to try it nonetheless.

Sensi's Hindu Kush- The only indoor plant that got bud rot, but I had to reallocate a fan to make a space heater more effective so the blame isn't on the genetics. Extraction in progress.

G13 Double Black. Very hardy, planted one this summer, and a second one which is the largest lady vegging at the moment. Extraction in progress.

Humboldt's Black DOG- Great genetics that I will grow much differently next time around. Still looking forward to the extraction, which is in progress.

Kalashnikov Seeds Lavanda Cream- The first plant that I'm somewhat proud of. Finished her in 48 hours of darkness, then cut at the base and hung for 72 hours. Just finished trimming her, and these buds are beautiful. I would get up to take a picture, but I made some scissor hash and... yeah no. I'm gonna lie here and enjoy it. Legit lavender aromas, especially after cutting and drying. Highly recommend.

Next up for the chop are Kalashnikov's AK Kush and Kubanskiy Ubiyza, and WOS's Ketama x Chefchaouen. They're the three, well, that look the most done in this picture, haha.

Here's a bigger picture of the flower room. The super stretchy one in the center is Kalashnikov's Siberian Haze. She was below the canopy in here when I flipped her and then this happened in about two weeks. Counterclockwise from her are Dinafem's Dinamed CBD plus, G13's C99, Ketama, Barney's Farm G13 Haze, AK Kush, Dinafem's Purple Afghan Kush, another CBD Plus, and Kalashnikov's Moscow Blueberry next to that, with the most visible perlite.

And a nicer picture of the Ketama!

Just got a few new plants started, too. NAW seeds' Green Manalishi Honey Hashplant F2 (G13 pheno hunting), and USC seeds' Nepalma (Nepal x Panama Red). The former two are my first time popping reg beans, actually.

Screenshot from 2019 11 12 18 00 34

Made some temporary adjustments to the veg space so watering will be easier on the floors. I've noticed that the vegging plants have responded very well to mixing some 2700k light in with the 4k board and the 5k led bulb. In the back are two Frisian Duck plants and the revegged Ketama. Also popped HSO's Gorilla Breath a while back, they've been killing it. I'll do a more thorough rundown of what is in there later. On the left are a 5g bucket of EWC tea (and the stick blender I used to aerate it before watering), and gallon jugs of collected rainwater.

And here's an admittedly terrible picture of the evap process.

Let us know what you think about the black dog I've been growing it for a while it's one of my favorite smokes. Interested in what you're going to do differently growing it next time? I've noticed she's slow to cloud up trikes particularly in the colder weather

I don't think I was able to get temps low enough for it to really start getting dark, I think it'll do better in a space where I can get temps down to like 55 at night for the last 3-4 weeks. Seems like a prime candidate for outdoors or greenhouse to me. I'd also let it get a lot bigger before flipping, would 't top it next time, and would flower at 11/13 the whole way through in the hopes that it would bring out the fun pheno traits. 100% she took a while to cloud up for me as well.

It should be ready to go by the end of today, so I'm excited to try it! If there's no update later today, it's good! 😄

Ketama x Chefchaouen chopped today! Was really happy with how frosty these buds got, so much so that I revegged one of the ladies planted in here and I'm going to use her as a mother.

Yep, that'll extract.

I'm a huge fan of the Black DOG iso budder. Love the balanced high, enough couchlockiness to do the job, but a fun euphoric mental state to go with it. Tasty, too! Sandalwood/pine/earth/caramel.

So I had a good feeling about Lavanda Cream even through veg, but that doesn't compare to how much I'm enjoying the smoke(/dab at precisely 585 degrees. Whatever).

It does smell like lavender. But not just lavender- there's lilac and elderflower in there too. And not in a subtle way, more in a "getting whiffs of flowers within 2 ft of the freezer during winterizing" way. It's like if fake air freshener didn't smell fake, with an awe-inspiring yet comforting high. Just ridiculous.

Also, Katyusha! Also from Kalashnikov, the strain is named after the rockets that turned the tide against the Nazis in WW2. Genetics are Hindu Kush x Kubanskiy Ubiyza (their house sativa, per se). I didn't do the best job growing it (should have finished it inside and planted in a better spot), but she's still real purty. The smoke is instant euphora and a body rush, and it's tasty but I'm too high to remember what it was like other than that. Just replanted another bean and I'll give her better love and attention this time around.

3/5 GMF2 popped and are just coming through the seedling stage. Ideally I'll be able to get a male and a couple females of both that and Nepalma to start chucking pollen, or at least saving it.

I've been thinking of chopping this AK Kush for a while, but her buds just keep getting fatter and the trichomes are clear/cloudy so it seems like waiting is best.

Here are Kubanskiy and Ketama, about to go into the freezer for extracts.

In its place in the flower room came Critical Super Silver Haze. Hoping that'll stretch decently so it can help support the other tall ladies around her.

Next to get the chop: HSO Blue Dream!

Today was cleaning day!

In the flowering room, I scrubbed the pots, floor, and baseboards with Simple Green D Pro +, rehung the light, rearranged the plants for better ventilation, went through every fan leaf and wiped off the spots of PM with isopropyl, and amended every pot with Isaria fumosorosea-inoculated soil. The fungus gnats were receding, but I saw a few plants that had thrips so I decided it was time to use the big guns. Early returns are positive.

Screenshot from 2019 11 28 18 22 45

Everything on this shelf are regs! I'm hoping to get a few males and start pollen chucking from these:

NAW Seeds Green Manalishi Honey Hashplant F2, USC seeds Nepalma, and USC seeds Uzbekistan. The Nepalma is a cross between a highland Nepalese sativa and Panama red hair, the Uzi is a straight up landrace indica, and the GMHH is a sativa hashplant. They've definitely proven more challenging than, say Kalashnikov's or Humboldt's seeds in that they don't just rocket up out of the shell at the light yelling "OKAY GET OUT OF MY WAY I'M READY TO BE ALIVE," but I'd rather have high maintenance plants than a high maintenance girlfriend so it's all good.

Screenshot from 2019 11 28 18 23 04

Obviously it's my first time breeding (or even growing regs), so any advice on what to look for in both males and females would be appreciated!! From my research, all of those plants have essentially one phenotype so I'm keeping detailed records on how these plants grow so I'll know what kind of breeding stock I've got.

Here's that AK Kush, defoliated and still growing buds!

Screenshot from 2019 11 28 18 23 32

As far as smoke reports go:

Ketama- Dusty, earthy old school indica in both aroma and flavor. No head buzz at all, but pure body relaxation and pain relief. Happy I revegged one because I think it might cross well with the regs.

Lavanda Cream- Holy shit. It's actually literally lavender cream flavored. Delicious but also potent, delivering full body relaxation with a sense of wellbeing. One of my favorite strains ever.

Kubanskiy Ubiyza- This is a get shit done sativa! All kinds of energy, creativity, enhanced concentration, but not overly anxious. No wonder it was a favorite of Kalashnikov himself. Will definitely grow again.

Katyusha- Also didn't get the best yield from the extraction (totally my fault), but what I got from her was a nice hybrid generally reminiscent of OG Kush with more pine. Growing again to do better on the next one.

Sensi Afghan #1- Didn't get the yield that I'd hoped from the extraction, but it's a tasty one. Incense and spice flavors dominate the nose and palate, and it's got a nice full body thunk. I'd grow it again, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to get seeds of it again.

Finally decided to cut AK Kush today. She's been through a lot- defoliation and topping mistakes, light shock, heat and wind burn, a touch of PM nearing the end, and living with fungus gnats around most of her life- but somehow I still got these beautiful chunks from her. Very excited to see what she can do in a SOG setup!

Oh man that AK Kush is good stuff. It's a really interesting high, both invigorating and relaxing. It smells like a combination of licorice root, pine cones, and black garlic.

It's been a significant driver in how much I got done today. Did another full floor clean, made a new batch of anti-pm foliar spray(@1diesel1 's formula) and put it to use on the last plant that I've seen with it, defoliated and rearranged the flowering ladies, and rearranged the plants in veg. Clockwise from bottom left: Frisian Duck, AK Kush, Lavanda Cream, Bubba's Gift, Ketama in the big containers. The smaller ones are Nepalma, Green Manalishi, Gorilla Breath, Gelat.OG, Kalashnikov's Katyusha (front and center), and Uzbekistan.

The flower room now, after flipping:

HSO 707 Truthband
World of Seeds' Wild Thailand
Europa Cheeselicious
Barney's Farm Phantom OG
Dutch Passion Frisian Duck

To join:
Kalashnikov Siberian Haze (looking rough in the back left corner, recovering from PM but the buds are still growing)
Barney's Farm G13 Haze
Pyramid Super Hash
G13 Labs Double Black, C99, and Sweet Amnesia
710 Seeds Lemon Pineapple
Delicious Seeds Critical Super Silver Haze

Also finished extracting HSO's Blue Dream (which I haven't tried yet) and Kalashnikov's Moscow Blueberry, which is a great, potent smoke (that I didn't grow nearly well enough so I'm already germing another one). More notes to come, thanks for reading!

Okay, so that blue dream is pretty incredible. It has all of the piney/hazey/lemon/acrid notes, obliterates anxiety, and just sorta makes life a lot funnier. I've never understood people talking shit on this strain. Seems a lot like Riesling in that it's got a widely perceived negative connotation that it's mass produced low quality sweet juice despite decades to centuries of evidence to the contrary from Alsace, Austria, Germany, and now Australia.

Sorry. Got into wine nerd mode. It's interesting shit, lots of parallels with weed. Same with tea.

Anyway, wanted to share the refinements to the isopropyl technique I've been using, since this blue dream is stuff I'd actually pay for. Like, barely any residue on the banger level stuff that only requires an immersion circulator (Anova ones work well) and some silicon baking containers. If anyone sees a way this technique can be refined, feel free to suggest it.

The most important thing to not extracting chlorophyll is to keep the plant material, containers, alcohol, etc. freezing cold throughout and be super gentle. Some people prefer to decarb before extracting, but I prefer to keep the terps over having it orally active.

Gently fill a quart mason jar about halfway to the top with the material, then put that in the freezer. This method scales to whatever container is being used, these are just examples.

-When it's cold throughout, pour the alcohol over the buds, just enough to cover them, and let it sit inside the freezer for 1:30. Thinking of using dry ice or liquid N or CO2 here to get the alcohol colder.
-In the meantime, set up a strainer lined with two coffee filters over another cold glass container (for winterizing) and a French press pot, like for coffee.
-Wrap the jar in towels so the heat from your hands doesn't warm up the mixture and shake it gently for 30 seconds, then pour it through the coffee filters into the winterizing container, keeping the plant material separate.
-Put the plant material into the already cold French press, cover with more iso, and then press the top down with just enough pressure to compact the plant material into a tight puck, then quickly pull up on the plunger to create negative pressure on the plant material.
-Press 2-3 times, keeping everything very cold throughout, and then pour that through the double coffee filters into the winterizing container. Put that on ice for 48 hours -Strain through double coffee filters (to get the precipitated oils out) into the silicon baking container and float the container on a water bath set at 88 degrees f.
-Set up a fan in front of it (not blowing across the container) to aid evaporation and let it reduce. Ventilation is important here, don't do it in a closed room to prevent explosions. The idea is to slowly let the isopropyl evaporate, then to have it be picked up and pulled through the fan so that it gets dispersed quickly.
-When it looks like all of the alcohol has evaporated, turn the temp on the water to 95 degrees f. Notice the tiny bubbles that are coming up through? That's the last of the alcohol evaporating. Once those bubbles stop, you're good to dab it! 595 has been my preferred temp recently, but I think it may depend on strain.

Raising the canopy a foot and a half in the flower room has presented quite a few unforeseen challenges. I didn't anticipate the added humidity from adding more plant mass would be as significant as it was, especially at night, and that led to PM on a few of them. Took out every infected plant and quarantined/treated them with:

1g epsom salts
2 g baking soda
1000g water

Applied as a foliar 3-4 times per day and that shit was gone with a quickness. Plus, bonus, the plants that I had with purpling stems are showing new green growth in the stems!

Here's the flower room. For perspective, everything in the back is in the same 5 gallon buckets as the front left.

Planning on removing the baking soda from that foliar once all traces of PM are gone, and adding 1g calcium chloride as a foliar calcium supplement, then testing adding 1g sifted wood ash as a foliar K supplement.

I wonder if a foliar-only grow would be possible...

Reduced the in-freezer infusion time to 45 seconds, followed by 45 seconds of gently shaking/swirling the iso around the plant material. Next time the straining procedure will go: Frozen glass milk jug for infusing and shaking -> pour the liquid out into a coffee filter set up over a ball jar where a cat can't jump up and fuck things up -> put the buds into a frozen french press and press the alcohol out of them -> combine alcohols, filter, winterize, filter, evap.

Still got a couple g's from my Dinamed fuck up, but this would have probably been 10-15% yield if I had planned better. Whatever, focusing on the improvements...

So, thinking about bacteria and how they do, I've decided to just start a watering "mother." It's strained FPJ, molasses, PFR-97, lactobacillus culture, live kombucha, and rain water in a 5g bucket. All of the living trim will get fpj'ed and added to that, as will more molasses and white sugar if needed to keep the bacteria alive. That'll get diluted by half with water before watering.

Also decided to clone and reveg Delicious' Critical Super Silver Haze, Pyramid's Super Hash, Dinafem's Purple Afghan Kush, and G13's Double Black, which I've really enjoyed running. No idea yet how close to the "original" SSH it is, but I think one of my projects for this coming year is to get a hold of some '95 Silver Haze from The Nature Farm and start running that, maybe chucking some pollen at those Green Manalishi F2, Nepalma, or Uzbekistan plants. Not gonna lie, I've fallen in love with Sativas after starting out as an Indica only dude.

Also decided to reveg and grow out Pink Kush CBD again, since it's a beautiful plant that makes spectacular concentrate.

Question for those of you that are breeding: Do the offspring of re-vegged plants carry the genes to grow bushier than their parents? Would growing hazes and revegging them, then mating the re-vegged plants create different offspring than two non-revegged plants?

Beautiful work.

What kind of microbes are you running?

lactobacillii is what grows in milk right?

always like hearing about what others are doing microbe wise.
