I have a 6 week old plant and two 2 week old seedlings from a friend, growing happily inside. Big girl is in a 15 gal fabric pot and im considering moving it outside once it get a bit warmer. I haven't been able to sex the little guys yet, but i have about 26 seeds of various strains that i would like to get going soon aswell.

What im mainly wondering about is how to go about germinating, will seeds germinated soon be able to keep up with plants that are 2-3 weeks ahead of them? should i just move the big gal outside to avoid the hassle?

I live in northern Vermont and the last frost is usually around early May, and the first frost of fall is around october 1st.

This is a short constrained growing season of only 140 days, any advice on planning when to germinate, and how to plan around different aged plants

I'm in Nova Scotia and we don't get enough dark time to flower & finish plants like you before it gets too cold and damp (mold) Oct 1-15 ish I've given up on out door growing for that reason. If you want a successful harvest I suggest doing it indoors. imho You'd need a heated green house to finish them properly where you're located.

yeah i figured. You dont think that the month old plant, which would likely be 2.5 months when it went outside would have enough time to flower? maybe a hoop house would work. could i put dark trash bags over the plant with holes in it to induce flower or is that just a bad idea. The indoor setup will be in full swing, i think i will try to put the big one outside around early may and see how long she goes for. Im not hoping for perfection just want to free up space in the tent for some sativas that would contrast nicely with what i got going now.

I'm not saying you can't do it but 12/12 doesn't come close until September and most plants take 2 months min to mature meaning late October at best to finish and I've done that. Killing my entire crop with bud rot in an unheated green house because it was a great fall but dampness in the mornings & some fog did them in. Never again for me to invest so much time and hopes and dreams for it all to come crashing down like that.

ive heard from people that if the plant is old enough 14 hours of light can be close enough to trigger flower. Dont know much about it though

As far as different ages go you need 3 spaces, Seedlings/cuttings -Veg & flower rooms In my flower room I have 2 plants a with 1 week left top go and some with 6-7 weeks. In Veg room I have 2 to go in flower room when I take 2 out of it that are done. I have a 6-7 following that I'll keep in veg until I have room to cycle them through. then move the plants out of the seedling/cuttings box into veg room and the cycle continues with more cuttings or seeds.

If not seen that at 14hrs but my experience is limited to what I've done and I haven't had any success here in this cold climate.

This guy grew monsters in Edmonton but he had to go to extreme measures to grow his monsters out doors.

Must be a lot drier than here. Nice plants you have there. When do you see the first sign of them starting to bud up? I'd love to be able to do that here but It just doesn't work for me. Being in Northern Ontario your dark days will start coming sooner than us as well. That may help yours to finish earlier than mine down here.

usually by 3 rd week of July there is preflowers when the plants are getting just above 14 hrs of light. Last year most of my plants were preflower by the end of 2nd week of July. We have horrible humidity here all spring summer and fall 80-90% heavy dews every morning by mid sept. I defoliate heavily enough that I’m satisfied that air flow will not be an issue and a bunch of leaves all smothered together dripping with moisture rotting the bud doesn’t happen. My fries have gotten substantially bigger by the year and I’m alone so it’s a ton of work but I see minimal losses and I use green cure a couple times at the beginning of sept and middle find I’ve had less issue using it as a preventative with defoliation try that. I have plants that see heavy frost they can handle some little more than most give them credit for

Ill put my big girl outside this summer, she will be 4 months in July. You have any tips for colder weather climates?

Water in the evenings lightly don't over water, keep ur plants healthy throughout and if u plant in containers they tend to finish a little faster imo but don't handle poor weather quite as good as plants with roots in the ground find what works for u modify yearly for better results its a learning process never stop learning

It is my experience to only grow 1 strain at a time indoors, you are setting yourself up for grief as the bigger strains tower over the smaller ones there gonna suffer, i know ur exited but life is so so much easyer doing this, only advice but you will see what i mean.

One strain at a time? Right now I have 7 with 2 of each strain. I leave my light where it is and use milk and pop crates to give me different heights for each plant trying to keep them at the same level or close enough. I used to raise and lower my light but I find this way works better for me.

If you are going to put it outside build a small green house around it, you can throw a tarp over top when it does get cold at night to retain some heat. I think ForeSaken used a insulated tarp and a wood stove to keep it warm at night.

Biggest thing is to look for fast finnishing strains. Black sugar rose c99 x blueberry. Northern lights big bud fast. Check out Seedsman they have a lot of fast strains that can finish in mid to late September

Critical blue this year was done 2nd week of sept. Averaged 3 pounds for each of the 4 plants. They are not mold resistant but are cut before the fall rains
